TVD Staying at UM Mega-Thread (F off Nick and the local Miami media dreck)

Since this is out of the bag...
I was never as high on TVD as many on here as far as a college player. That said, I think finding a better QB for next year would be a near insurmountable task. I dont think TVD is a top 5 QB next year but he is definitely top 10. Also the big part about TVD is that his NFL projection is pretty **** high. Scouts will like this kid, **** if Will Levis is a top 10 pick, TVD is at least a first rounder. Just so everyone doesnt get this confused I think TVD is a very good QB but he is a top tier NFL prospect. Like I said, think AR15 or Levis here when I say that.

So then that brings us to what do we do if he does bolt? If he bolts, that will just make the Mario and QB narrative that much louder. I think there would only be one solution and that is Maalik Murphy. The kid would help with recruiting even more than TVD, although our 2023 season would probably suffer. If played correctly though, Mario would have another built in excuse for this season. I dont think any other kid out there moves the needle like Murphy, he loomed great in the spring game while the Georgia kid was meh.

Lastly, Footballville or whatever he is called, needs to be tarred and feathered and run out of town for this BS. This ***** our team so **** bad. Its almost become a lose lose situation becuase of him leaking this. Mario is going to have to thread the needle here rather TVD stays or goes.

It's crazy to see people bashing him or questioning his character here. Or claiming he's only about the money and **** him. While also asking Ruiz or one of the NIL programs to step up.

We haven't done **** in 20 years. Mario has definitely upgraded the roster but we are still 2 years out (minimum) from being considered a legitimate threat to any team week in, week out.

That’s all well and good IF TVD is better than any other QB Bama currently has on their roster. Seems to be huge risk by TVD to transfer to Bama when he’s already behind being that the spring game has come and gone and he’ll have to learn a 4th offense in 3-1/2 years.
 
Idc who the OC was, when I saw him throw 3 picks in a row vs MTSU I lost all faith in TVD. Nobody made him throw those footballs. Charleston Rambo turned this guy into something bigger & better then he is on this board. That's just keeping it a buck.

I can’t believe how many of you are saying you’d leave too or aren’t upset about the situation occurring in late April.

Really enforcing the fair-weathered nature of this fanbase. Y’all don’t bleed hard I guess. All for money…At this point, kick rocks. Footballville needs to be banned from campus. Mike Ryan too.

And Drew Rosenhaus has always been a piece of **** weasel

Agree 100% with your last paragraph. If TVD stays or goes, Mario has a lot of PR work to do.

Not untrue. But if it's to get his client the best deal he can from UM, then I can understand it.

Headline you've seen in every sport for decades: "star free agent player flirts with other teams to get max deal to stay."

And yeah, if you haven't transferred yet in CFB these days, you are a free agent.

We all have to get used to to this. No one minded when we pulled Bama's stud starting OG away from them in January.

I see both sides. But the angry fan says F him. Call his bluff. They think we have Brown and Williams and are screwed. Honestly if we get an older portal qb who has a few hundred snaps I dont think you'd see a difference. Like others have said even our passionate fans realize we are likely at best a 9 win team if everything broke right. TVD is living off a 6 game stretch where we basically just didnt run the ball and let him throw it around vs awful defenses. Was it TVD that had that success or was it Lashlee making things happen. Ill leave that up to you. But sometimes you things have to get worse before they get better as hard as that is to believe. I just think between questioning fans, wanting more money, people questioning his leadership/relations with receivers. There are a lot of red flags that we just keep brushing over.

Also I am with the crowd that truly believes NIL is going to begin self regulating soon. Sure some big time guys will get theirs but these guys who are basically just part of a machine thinking they need to get paid are about to get a rude awakening. **** so many kids are going into the portal now and ending up worse off. We are just hearing about the 5% that can help a team.

I mean I am leading the charge for Tywone Malone to Miami. But its pure potential in football and baseball at this point. In what world should he get anything. Throw him a used Tahoe or something. But I am sure there are numbers being throw out because of the "what if" factor he has.

Players really only want to play 3 years and bounce asap - but even if they stay 4 now bc of NIL:

School 1 - year 1
Free transfer
School 2 - year 2
Transfer bc of made up story - waiver granted
School 3 - year 3
Go pro

And you have remember, most kids above won't transfer after year 1, they wait until their sophomore year to see if they start or not. So more realistically:

School 1 - years 1 and 2
Free transfer
School 2 - year 3
Go Pro or request waiver to transfer
School 3 - year 4
Go Pro or grad transfer
School 4 - year 5

School 1 - year 1
Free transfer
School 2 - year 2
Transfer, sit a year.
School 3 - sit out
School 3 (year 2) - play
Grad Transfer
School 4
Go Pro

All can be true and not fair weather. ***** made and sleazy from him and Rosenhaus that it’s now but we really could upgrade if we tried and this forces that hand. TVD seems to have a weird dynamic with the team anyway.

It doesn't happen every year - it's just the threat that it could and bc some guys do every year and the turnover is so high, it just feels like it.

But there are a lot more guys now transferring twice that would have only been able to do so once in the past.....and even more guys transferring in the first 1-2 years at a school than ever before.

I don’t disagree, I’m just focused on timing and reason of TVD leaving, plus the local media outlets giddy to release the information before it becomes official.

This would not happen at any other program. Mario’s going to have to ban them all.

And yeah…remember when I said DVD was trying to act buddy buddy with everyone…dude just runs his mouth over and over. Wouldn’t be surprised if Footballville got it from him (speculation, but he’s done it before to these scum “reporters”).

There was instability at WR, RB, and OL last season because of the offense and injuries.

But Alabama WR's weren't anything special last season, and I don't think they will be anything extra special this season. Yeah when they had 4 first rounders on their offense it was very dangerous. Jacorey Brooks is their top WR, is he a 3rd round pick maybe?

You have Tommy Rees whose offensive system isn't air raid WR concepts.

I am not saying Alabama doesn't have more talented roster than Miami, of course they do. I think what I am saying is with new offense, Young and Restrepo at WR, and the rebuilt OL I don't think their is some wide chasm as you would think or maybe their was 3-4 years ago when Alabama had 1st rounders everywhere on their offense it seemed. This is not the same Alabama offense.

Our 2nd team OL will look much different in fall as opposed to spring. I am not sure why people keep harping on the 2nd team OL. Yes, I would still add talented OL in portal if they would come.

Well friends, here we are, college football 2023. ****, it is even worse than what the NFL became. You can literally switch schools every year with zero repurcussions. There is no contract that keeps you somewhere for a specified amount of time.

Changes need to be made or college football can kick rocks as far as I'm concerned. I used to watch a lot of college football and besides the playoffs, I didn't watch another game besides most of ours from start to finish. Conference money grabs, my interest started to wane.

I guess we'll see what happens, but the more time goes by, the less interest I have.
