TVD is practicing

Thank you. X’s targets are not solely a product of Dawson’s offense.

X had one more target than Young with Emory behind center.

X is getting almost double the targets of every other receiver with TVD.

That difference is not just Dawson.
X had the same as Young Vs Clemson- 7.

Emory wasn’t asked to pick apart the Clemson D with option routes by the WRs. Multiple go routes to Young. Tons of screens. TVD was asked to do a ton more which does lead to more targets for the slot.

TVD was targeting X all summer of 2022 and everyone knew he was a TVD favorite. This isn’t on Dawson.

Majority of our routes were screens lol we just took turns with who. Then it was man so we just threw jump balls to our heat 50/50 ball wr lol

In dawson drop back passing game X is almost always the primary target, there’s literal tape, stats, and dawson saying it to prove this but y’all just decide to ignore it lol

The evidence is right there for yall and yall still don’t understand it lol. Does tvd lock on to X too much at times? Yes. Does he miss open guys? Yes. So does every qb who has ever lived.

We have three wrs near the top of the acc in receiving but you would think X is the only guy who gets targeted if u read the fanbases takes..

i dont blame yall tho..yall just dont know any better lol

X was targeted on one pass in the fourth quarter against Clemson after the playbook was “opened up”. Of the five completions in the fourth, one was a jump ball, two were great deep shots, and two were great reads and throws.

Saying Emory just threw 50/50 jump balls in the fourth is wrong, dumb, and insulting.

Hopefully Virginia fans are infuriated that Malik Washington #4 is getting almost double the targets/catches than anyone else on the UVA team and demand that he doesn’t get the ball to #4 as much this weekend. 🫤

If the fourth quarter against Clemson didn’t show you that X shouldn’t be getting double the targets of CY, I’m not sure what to tell you.

We ran 2 real drop back concepts, one was a flood concept led to a checkdown, one was the slant or dig to colbie on 3rd n 13, majority of the other ones was 50/50 balls to colbie, the fade td, the bomb colby the db broke up, the 50/50 ball colbie caught on 3rd n 8, and we tried another 50/50 ball on another 3rd down that they defended well. Then a screen to X to start the last drive in regulation, tried to run another 50/50 sluggo to colbie with seconds left but he got pressured

The playbook was never opened up, he didn’t have to make real reads. Its not an insult it’s reality , its his first start why tf would anyone expect more.

In our real dropback passing game X is the primary read majority of the time so he gets most targets cause the job is to get the ball out quick. There is nothing to take from this game other than we got a win…The **** is not rocket science

If we our tryna mirror freakin 2 win UVA offensive output then we in real trouble but it sounds kinda good :jordan:

Enough is enough with you mopes.

Has TVD made a few terrible mistakes that greatly impacted our 2 losses? Yes.

Does he target X too much? Yes. But X is a great player it would just be nice if we could get everyone involved cuz our WR’s are a strength of the team. But not a huge deal X catching 12/13 targets didn’t lose the GT game.

TVD does not suck, Emory who showed poise to win that game is not the answer as of right now. He did enough to win but he did not play well and TVD wins that game by 2+ scores.

If you think Emory should play over a healthy TVD in 2023 you are an absolute idiot

You are misleadingly oversimplifying… but if you want to call a perfectly placed ball to a receiver in single coverage a “50/50 jump ball” you do you.

Edit: I wish TVD would throw some of those “50/50 jump balls” - people have been screaming for a fade to CY in the endzone all year. Maybe that’s on Dawson but weird that he would hold it back from TVD and call it for Emory.

Of course matchups are a factor, but nobody in their right mind would think x should get double the targets of CY with JB and BS also in this offense.

Just a reminder that piece of **** TVD only throws to Restrepo and nobody else and there isn’t another kid on the team who has caught a single pass. Absolutely shameful. I think even if he’s healthy, he should be QB3.

How legit is this washington guy miami has to face this weekend? This guy gna give us fits?

Nobody is saying Emory should play over a Healthy TVD....what people are saying he should start over a not 100% TVD.

You’re taking my words out of context bro lol, im saying since clemson basically had to sell out vs the run so we went to our best 50/50 ball wr..Thats why he got the most targets, we didn’t run much real drop back concepts that we usually do. And yes emory made good throws especially on the bomb and dig to colbie but im not oversimplifying that’s just the reality of what happened man its not a knock on emory

He called it for emory because thats a simple play we can use to create something in the passing game, we are not gonna just run that when we have our qb1 that would be stupid because we can run our full offense. A fade is one of the most least efficient plays u can run

And its not about who we think should get the most targets its the reality of how the offense is structured…X is the primary read in most of the drop backs so he gets more targets. Dawson should cut X snaps for brashard, and out Jacolby in the slot more but if they dont execute well there i cant blame him for not changing whats working

I seriously wonder what some of you watch. There have been plenty of times Colbie, JG and even Horton have been targeted by TVD. Plays and at points in a game that were no different than those last Saturday when Emory went to Colbie. He didn't specifically pick Colbie over Restrepo. No games have been lost because Restrepo had more targets/catches. IDK why anyone cares as long as the team wins.

Last Saturday, the passing game stats were as follows:

Young 6/7 for 76 yds
Restrepo 7/7 for 26 yds
SMith 5/5 for 36 yds
JG 2/5 for 5 yds
Williams 2/2 for 6 yds

The run game opened up the outside guys last week and Young stepped up and did his part.

UVA may be different and we'll see X more. Who cares as long as they win...
