True or untrue: Virginia Tech is in better shape than Miami as a program

Beamer was slipping at the end. He was 24-40-2 from 1987-1992 (pretty amazing he avoided the ax), 185-58 from 1993-2011 and 28-23 from 2012-2015. He got pressured into retirement, and pretty much Hokie fans felt it was time for him to go.

Little did they know how bad Fuente would be.
Virginia Tech was only truly relevant for a couple of years because of Mike Vick. Other than that solid but not elite under Beamer.

OP-Wait and see crowd is always wrong!!!!

What about jimmy and Butch?

OP-They don’t count!!!!

Then begins meandering, conspiracy theory filled babble about not caring about winning with all the right buzzwords-Shalala, real Canes fans blah, blah, blah.
They would all have known Jimmy and Butch were gonna come good. Even the people who paid to fly a banner to get Butch out knew he was gonna come good. Hindsight is 20/20.

A bad Duke team? Duke is 3-1 and 14-6 in their last 20 games.

Miami doesn't have an identity problem, broken culture, or an offense that's in shambles?
Duke played Bama pretty tough before succumbing. Certainly better than we would have.

It’s closer than people want to admit.

So, you’re a quitter.

I’d rather hope in vain than just give up and quit, but then, in life, that’s the difference between the haves and the have-nots.

Quitters never win and winners never quit.

No. Quitting would mean choosing another team or something along those lines imo. You can support the team from a distance while sending a message to the school that you're unhappy and demand more. If going 7-5 for eternity is satisfactory then disregard.

I would rather hold up a sign at a game that reads 'Fold the Program' than one that says 'You're not ok. I'm not ok. But it's ok! You're all winners!'

Having blind faith and pledging your full support to something you don't exert much control over is stupid. You're being duped.

I’m not being duped on anything. Don’t be an idiot, none of your loser examples apply to me. I’m a demanding guy, but the difference between you and me is I actually have some leverage with the program, you have none. The other difference is I’m not constantly bltching, I’m one of the guys that can actually have his voice heard when the time comes...you’re just squatting on a message board.

You may now proceed. (Edit)

So tell me, Bernie Kosar, why do we go 7-5 every year?

No, I don't at all. Bud Foster has been VT's entire identity for over two decades now and is retiring after this season and appears to have already checked out mentally (which I figured would be the case). The Hokie faithful have no clue what their identity will even be moving forward. Fuente has been an unmitigated failure up to this point and very possibly will not survive the season or offseason. They have a massively fractured lockerroom and a culture right now that has been described by current players as "not fun to be there". A significant amount of their players are actively seeking an escape hatch. Their offense is in shambles; they have no QB; their recruiting classes which were never even that good in the first place are falling apart; and even attendance at Lane is way down in a town where there is nothing else to do on a Saturday. And they just got whipped by a bad duke team by 30+ at home. One of my best buds who is as big of a Hokie fan as we are Canes fans txtd me on Saturday with:

"Had to turn it off. it's hard to imagine we are this bad...we look like high school players out there."

and this morning with:

"just taking the under... we are a huge dumpster fire. I cant see us winning a game for the rest of the season TBO"

No, it's not even discussion-worthy, Rok.

The only issue being I’ve heard Fuente has a $15M buyout then in the offseason is reduced to $12.5M. Still, a lot of money for them to shell out and for Fuente to walk away from ala Richt.

Why does everyone keep saying that was a bad duke team? Cutcliffe is a good coach and their offensive scheme looks pretty solid. Not saying they’re Clemson but they’re not a bad team. Clearly well coached
Agree cutcliff is a phaggot but a good coach

Diaz is an extension of Richt's tenure until tangible changes and results begin to materialize. So because of that I'd argue that Diaz and Fuentes are on about the same timeline. It may not be fair but that's the price for hiring a coordinator from a failed regime.
I just dont understand how fans thought this was a good idea. Its so fuqin crazy to me that people bought this ****. I never heard a elite kid ever say Manny recruited the **** out of me there was no way i could say no. Thats a huge red flag to me and his scheme would get gashed up without good dts. He is relying on hidden gems he better hope Silvera is that dude. Im just with my arms up like if we win we r fuqed if we lose ill be mad af too so its a lose lose

Rok's got 8 years of solid posting under his belt and he personally seeded Greentree. You've got less than two weeks and have been abrasive since day one.

Your boyfriend started a thread with the clear intention of starting a discussion. Comparing our program to VT’s at this point is more salacious, yet you’ll continue to nut hug cause you’re a keyboard lackey.

JD08 was a soldier in the 100 days until cfb thread. He was a good bowler. And a good man. I won't hear of this.

In a comic, you know how you can tell who the arch-villain's going to be? He's the exact opposite of the hero. In many ways, Diaz represented a total 180 from the burnt-out Richt.

We were desperate. 2018 was so miserable with the exception of another classic against FSU. It was fitting that Richt looked like a walking corpse. Manny was supposed to have our players breathing fire. The other stuff (strength & conditioning, wholesale culture change, discipline, accountability, leadership) takes some time. It also takes experience. We probably need to stop hiring 1st time HCs.

But seeing us sleepwalk against CMU was tragic. We blew a shot at getting better and it sure looked like the team was pretty indifferent. That can be fixed, too. Maybe.
