I am a bit concerned about the hit rate/ developmental rate. We might see more hit the portal too.
I keep telling you all, Mario has done nothing here to warrant this blind loyalty. This "elite" recruiter has basically done what Diaz, Richt and Golden did. His "hit" rate is trash.

Isn't this the case for most teams though? Outside of say your top 5 teams. Even then, they still have mass exodus.

Inflows and outflows.

So between the classes of 2022 & 2023, which are supposed to be our upperclassmen leaders for the 2025-26 season, Mario’s HS & Portal evals are hitting at a 26.2 hit rate, which is on par with the data I provided in the “Mario Recruiter” thread during his time at UO.

He’s a 1/4 success rate w/ a 3/4 attrition/non-impact rate. I expect more portal casualties which will skew these numbers further. It’s also why for the 1st time since I started following recruiting, I was very numb b/c so far, we’re not stacking classes, we’re bleeding them.
God darn @Rellyrell I’m already sick about this season. This is just painful to read. Yuck lol but thanks for keeping it a buck

People that are trying to discredit this class need to think about how the portal has affected nearly every team. There’s always going to be players that portal out & not pan out for every top team. With roughly 44 players total as a first or second string player that will leave a bunch of players on a 105 man roster to either not pan out or transfer due to playing time.

I know you’re trying hard to push a narrative…..

But including the class he signed after being here a month is just ridiculous.

Recruiting is a 2 years process! Sometimes longer.

And nobody will respond to the post of the Bama class……because if you look at every top 10 class from 2023 you will see almost the same thing. Even the so called elite developers….but I get it Mario has to be crucified while other coaches get a pass 👍

The question becomes, can all of those guys you highlighted as “bench warmers” develop into solid contributors.

We need one more year of data before we’ll know, since most of the “bench warmers” are underclassmen.

What’s the “hit rate” for other coaches? I’m curious. I’ve always felt that recruiting was as much about quantity as quality because it seems like even the best programs miss on a ton of blue chip kids. I mean Florida State built their roster this year on former 4 and 5 star kids that originally signed with Bama or UGA and for the most part, those guys are bums.

There’s no narrative that needs to be pushed, but u can cape while u cope.

About a year ago I did a pretty thorough breakdown of the 2022 recruiting class/portal/staff hires results

About half way through I regretted it

The coaching staff might have been the worst part

Butch gets his eval flowers but it wasn’t just players, he could find coaches

Only 7 player’s remain? This is why we will be going portal heavy again.

I am concerned about the amount of missed, as well. 24’ is our best class and I fear 25’ going to look similar to 23’.

This is exactly where I'm at with this. I just think the hit rate is more apparent with the portal. In the past, those marginal players would have gotten garbage time snaps and been passed by better players. Now they portal out and fans see a terrible loss.
