I've said it once and I'll say it again, I like Golden. But if it meant getting a new DC and Scheme, I would trade him for someone else. That was the only reason I though The whole PSU thing could have worked in our favor if we had just got Chudzinski, Schiano, or even Butch back...They all had a history here, and had just gotten fired (still are); was perfect timing to make a move, especially if it was for Chud...

Shannon's defense never performed quite as well after Petrino gave everyone the blueprint on how to take it apart after the first time we played them.

Don't you have to normalize the stats based on the caliber of school he was coaching at? What is UVAs and Temples total defensive potential based on the talent they can get?

The results at Miami, however, are a joke. Completley and totally unacceptable. Good news is that their year 4 track record is promising. Perhaps this thing could actually work at Miami with the kids we can recruit. Our defensive potential as a school is as high as anyone else.

Different offensive game today than when Randy was coaching.

Want a peak at how his defenses would perform now just take a look at what Petrino did to him. And that was with a stacked defense.

That's why these comparisons ars dumb. Different times and with different caliber players.
There is a reason why he still hasn't landed a DC gig.

You defend Golden at every turn. This isn't about the U with you, its all about Golden and this staff. The ******* stats are in your face and you still don't see it.

Different caliber of players??? What a bunch of crap.

You will make up any lie possible to defend your god.

No, the schools they played had access to the same type of players. Temple wasn't playing in the SEC.

That's fair for temple, not UVA. UVA plays a real schedule. UVA does not consistently get top tier kids in mass. They may have access to kids, but certainly don't get them.

Are you saying there isn't a difference of caliber player between what Butch and Coker gave Randy to work with than what Randy gave Golden to work with?

There is another point. Those defensive stats the last 3 seasons were tainted with Shannons blood.
Lets circle back at the end of the season and tell me that its not all about the U with me.

Why are we turning this into a Randy vs Golden argument.Let's just focus on Goldens defenses at 3 diferent schools now and the results have been the same.Awful his first 3-4 years.really as bad as it can get 60s,90s and even 120s,wow. Then once he has experience he has coached 2 top 20 defenses, this is what we hope happens here soon.

The problem with your rationalization is you think the talent was the worst in the nation, it wasn't. Yet that is exactly where we were ranked. The scheme and the staff showed their coaching ability or lack there of, we were one of the worst defenses in the nation. For 3 years they tried to pound the square peg into the round hole. They didn't have the players to run their scheme, so did they adapt, no they kept trying to run the exact same crap with the same exact crap results. They won't get a pass from me when they finally have their players and have a decent d for one year. Since you missed it, he hasn't been able to produce a top 20 D consistently even when he has his players.

At uva during that time golden had chris long, ahmad brooks, chris canty and a few other guys that went to the nfl.

long and brooks are pro bowl players and have been all pros in the nfl.

U dont need stats to realize No D sux. Just watch our games. Thats all I do. No amount of stats and ex factors can blind you to what you see on the field. And how sick it makes you feel every weekend. Lets hope it changes. Me am not holding my breath. Just hope we dont waste all these kids careers

How is improving Temple and UVA into top 25 defenses awful?

If you don't know how to interpret stats then steer clear of them.

Not even close in talent - cant see anyone from this year (or last year) starting in front of the 2001 class. In fact most would be 3rd string ---- I know that sounds crazy but on the bench in 2001 was Vince W, S Taylor, A Rolle .... I will stop there

It wasnt just that these teams had NFL talent, these guys went on to START in the NFL and many ended up being all Pro. If players on this current team doubled their output do you see any of them being all pro at the next level? Not even close
