TOS Reporting Position Changes for Freshmen

2 things I want to add.

1. Let's not act like position changes are set in stone

2. Failure to make changes are exactly where the last staff dropped the ****ing ball. In a huge class like that there's going to be switches. A smart coach does it early enough to benefit.

And its not like our coaches don't know about our DL problems.

OK 3 things.

I guess they have to be pretty confident with their DL recruiting to even think about doing this.

*backs off the ledge for now*

Sure hope you are right. We seem like we are going the right direction but so much can change between guys getting recruited and actually hitting the field. We definitely don't have any wiggle room.

Briscoe was very disappointing at DL in fall practice. He just didn't seem to show any signs of having "it", despite needing a redshirt year badly to get in the weight room.

Too bad.

If I can paraphrase the wise CanesAreAble, we don't need bodies, we need ballers.

You might wanna tell that to the corching staff. They recruited those bodies.

Yep its been that way for a while. Just saying its better to recognize a mistake so we can fix it in this years class rather than force a square peg in a round hole for a couple of years first.

This feminine shouldered crying about DT has to stop. We've got 48502589085048 DTs on the roster. Losing Briscoe wont mean a **** thing to the DT rotation. If you want to cry, go look at the upcoming depth charts at OL. Remember that J Johnson and Mr Drama Henderson will likely not be back next year. Go look and see how high Hunter freaking Wells will be next year, and the year after in the depth charts.

Dudes were doing backflips when Grimble signed lol

Yea he hasn't panned out, but you can't fault the staff for taking a chance on a highly rated guy like that.

I'd much rather they strike out on the Grimble's of the world then by taking more Darius Smith's or Junior Alexis'. Just saying.

Briscoe never fit a 3-4 defense. We need thick and squat D lineman and big linebackers. Briscoe is too tall for that system and has perfect size for the O line.As for Jake I guess our desperation at tight end trumps DE

I always considered Briscoe a lower-end take at a position that needed numbers, so whatever.

O'Donnell looks to have the measureables of a solid TE prospect.

This should not be that surprising.Moore and Ivery have both played and Briscoe is deadt last on the DT depth chart. With Odonnell now at TE and us bringing 2-3 in this class I can't imagine they bring back Walfoed,Asante,Terry and Dye.I At this time Die might be the least worse of the group.

1. We don't play a 3-4.
2. Even we did, he's the perfect size for a DE in a 3-4.

We need bodies on the OL and we need a miracle at TE.

From a numbers standpoint, the DL sets up pretty well for next year assuming guys get bigger/stronger/better.

DE:

Green, SR
Cain, SR
Chickillo, JR
Williams, SO
Hamilton, SO
McCord, SO
Hoilett, FR

DT:

Porter, SR
Robinson, SR
Pierre, JR
Grimble, JR
King, SO
Moore, SO
Ivery, SO

So, two true freshmen who weren't going to play are going to work on the other side of the ball for 6 weeks and the sky is falling?

D line By far our worst position and the biggest reason our defense is doing terrible. There's not many recruits coming in this year and another two switch to offense.

Not good news my man. You think Briscoe is really just moving to offense for 6 weeks? What's the point who won't play anyway. They may need some bodies at offensive line for practice reasons but that wouldn't be worth taking away some development for him at D line.

This.

You fans who blindly follow all things our staff does without questioning them like everything is sunshine and flowers need to wise up.

If this was one of your young WRs moving to the secondary I wouldn't complain. But DL has been our worst unit all season and for Golden to move two of HIS DL recruits to offense after less than a year is puzzling.

My not leaping off the cliff due to this "news" is not a case of "blindly" following the staff. It's called reason and perspective. Do you know if Briscoe was buried at the bottom of the depth chart? Do you know whether he showed some potential on Oline? Do you know whether he requested the switch? Or if this was the staff's way of seeing, in light of an imminent reduction in scholarships, whether Briscoe justifies a scholarship over the next 3 years? The guy hasn't played a down. He's a true freshman. It impacts the program ZERO to try him out on the offensive line. As for Jake, show me a current player on our roster who gives you confidence they can be a reliable TE. Still waiting...

Yes we do.

No, no we dont.

We played it a lot against ND. Coach D even said. Just sayin'.

Because these 2 were surely the guys to fix our DL problems. Unbelievable that the coaches would move two future All-American DL to offense. :ohlord:

Meaningless. We have been playing 3-4. It's a multiple D I know but we've seen quite a bit of 3-4.

I would rather they make an impact somewhere than nowhere, and I appreciate them doing this now rather than their senior years. That being said, what of the evals? I will also say Butch made a living out of recruiting a bunch of dudes that could be play TE/DE/LB and shuffled them around after they got to Miami.

We need 2 consecutive years worth of a mix of JUCO DL and HS stud DL. We need to stack quality players there, otherwise we have no future.
