I literally cannot fathom how someone can advocate Highsmith Rodgers and Green having significant PT on a team trying to move past mediocrity.
lol you all were saying the same thing about Brandon McGee too
nobodies talking about either of these players having significant playing time but they should and will play.... There is no depth at safety for highsmith and rodgers not to play so there's that????
Shayon Green has earned the playing time he is going to get this season and its simple as that.
Thank U. We don't have have enough D depth yet. That's two years away. That's why I think 9-3. Injuries will happen, but we will improve.
Just enjoy the ride.

I know this is unpopular but I want Arab Money to start over Shayon. I'm sorry we need a constant pass rush to help our secondary.
Because a team is going to throw the ball every down right? On top of that, for this hypothetical lets start a true freshman over a 5th year senior (Gilbert) who has the same qualities (better than Quan) when healthy. Green needs his role lessened, but he can still provide depth.
I wouldn't dismiss AQM so lightly. I also wouldn't say that Gilbert is a better pass rusher than AQM at this point.
Gilbert is a known quantity. He started 13 games last year and had 4 sacks. In 4 years playing college Gilbert has 14.5 tfl's and 8.5 sacks. Chick in 2 years has 13 tfl's and 9 sacks and most people, not myself, think Chick is a below average to average pass rusher.
So what does that say for Gilbert?
Quan looks like a guy who could go off like Rusty Madearis and get 4.5 sacks in his 1st ever game.
Not saying it will happen, just saying that to compare AQM to Gilbert is, honestly, a huge compliment to Gilbert.
The comparison to Chick and Gilbert looks valid on the surface, but if you dig deeper its not even remotely similar. Did you take into account Gilbert's injuries? He didn't play for 4 full years man...cmon. Here is his Wisco bio...

That's one **** of a productive season last year. He was injured 3/4 of the season in '11. In '12 he was a true soph. This guy is no slouch...and if healthy, will be an impact player for us without a doubt. Possibly our top DE the day he stepped foot on campus.
You might want to edit your post, particularly your time line. If he was a true soph in 2012 how did he earn his 2nd letter in 2010?

So 5 year rebuilding process to create some depth?
Golden was able to do it @ Temple by year 3/4 and that's without So Fla talent & with limited scholarships.
is this the last scrimmage of camp?
is this the last scrimmage of camp?
No, we have a scrimmage Friday August 30th at 8pm on ESPN U
I was at the scrimmage as well. My observations mirror udaman's observations. The offense has way too many weapons for any defense to stop. The OL might be the best OL I've ever seen at UM, and probably one of the top units in the country. The receiving corps is better and deeper than I thought it would be, and I had high hopes for the unit. Herb Waters and Dorsett were outstanding, Malcolm Lewis made a nice catch and Stacy Coley is a special talent. The TEs looked good. Stephen Morris is playing with supreme confidence to go along with a tremendous skill set. Dule is Duke and Maurice Hagens was more than impressive on his run after his reception.
The offense owned the defense at the beginning (the first three possessions), but the defense began to bow up after that. The defense has a ton of talent. Curtis Porter, Olsen Pierre, Gilbert and AQM were standouts along the defensive front. AQM dropped into coverage on one play and demonstrated incredible athleticism and speed: it was truly impressive. The LBs are excellent against the run, but were having a tough time against the pass. The CBs were okay, but I expect them to improve. Not having 2 out there was a problem, but Artie Burns looks like the real deal.
The kicker was very good and has a very strong leg (he hit the platform on the scissor lift on one successful attempt.
Sunny and Alex Gall were wearing red shirt and an assistant S & C coach was working them out throughout the scrimmage (especially Alex Gall (who was pushing the assistant coach around the track as the assistant coach sat in a John Deere golf cart for a significant portion of the first half)).
I think Ryan Williams & Crow are gonna get significant burn against a few teams this year because its gonna be like 50-3 at halftime in a few of the games.
