Todays scrimmage

i said this last year with kacy and highsmith both getting burn all year. Why not move a corner back to safety ie crawford. Put your best players on the field

I hope coach Golden making coach D's life very uncomfortable until this defense proves itself, even thought they are close friends. I hope Golden can separate work & friendship, because Miami will not tolerate many more 7-5 years because of the defense. He will be on the hot seat if that happens because we are not a 7-5 program. We are used to winning big in Miami.

For the 1000th time. This is Golden's defense not Coach Duhs. When is the last time you've seen a head coach fire a coordinator on "their" side of the ball? Defense is Goldens specialty and Coach D is his hand picked coach and has been for YEARS. If the D doesn't improve.....that's on Golden. I trust it will be rectified this year.

At least wait for some video footage before we totally bash the whole secondary. Pressure from the D-Line will make our secondary look a lot better!

Safety is going to be a problem if anything happens to Bush. We are seriously lacking talent/depth back there. You can't expect a true freshman in Carter to be ready right away and the upperclassmen are simply on the roster cause we don't have anyone better at the moment.

Make no mistake about it...when this program is at full strength a Highsmith or Rodgers is on the scout team....not firmly entrenched in the 2 deep

I'd argue the healthyof Bush is just as important as that of Curtis Porter at this point in relation to the success of this years D.

I honestly would rather have the seniors starting over Rayshawn Jenkins at this point.... at least they are veteran enough to be in the right positoin, i havent seen Rayshawn Jenkins make a play or even put himself in position to try and make a play at all Fall Camp.

I think Jamal Carter is going to take over as the starter during the season if Ray Jenkins doesnt step up.

Florida does that w/ their DBs.... thats what killa1storm let me know in the Intel thread.

Muschamp is quick to rotate Purifoy and Roberson at safety to mask their weakness back there at safety..... i dont see it being a bad idea to rotate Gunter over to safety from time to time.

I've said this before, I think Tracy Howard would be a good safety.

I've been saying it for a while on these boards....Gunter has the physical traits to play safety. At least I think he does...either way I'd love to see this experimented if no other reason that to try to get our best players on the field at once.

Both of those kids were veterans last year too and they sucked ****. Talent needs to play...even if it is unrefined. Highsmith and Rodgers were the worst S combo I have seen in my entire life. If they get extended PT this year for any reason, it will be tough to get to 10 wins. You MIT as well put Daniel Adderley out there at S.

Shayon is a good kid. He will be a fine captain cheering his teammates on from the bench. Talent plays. It's not personal.

The Profit needs to play.

LOL what is it about rotations dont you all seem to understand?? You think AQM and everybody else isnt going to play b/c Green is also going to play???

I'm well aware of the need for rotation....but you don't put in a kid out of his league in there just to create a rotation. We can have a decent rotation without Green going in there and getting owned. In the 4-3 you can rotate Chick Gilbert AQM and McCord depending on down distance etc. the youngsters are a little light in the *** yes but they are ballers. At the end of the day I don't want someone out there that is going to get pounded no matter if he is wearing the C or not.

How can you talk about Green getting "owned" but then in the next sentence bring up Chickilo like he wasnt getting owned all last year???

You want AQM to be fresh enough to rush the passer when its actually a passing down..... Shayon Green's minimal role will be to help stop the run. Thats why he is the starter, teams usually arent throwing the ball around on 1st down.

Gilbert, AQM, and McCord arent every down D-ends... nobody on this team will play every down so why is this an issue? Shayon Green will do his job which is making tackles along the lOS and holding the point of attack to free up the playmakers on the defense to make the plays that you are referring too.

I doubt they will make or break a 10 win season..... Miami won 7 games w/ a worse overall defensive unit and a much harder schedule last year. But i agree talent needs to be on the field thats why i want Jamal Carter to get a lot of reps beside Deon Bush.

Weaker schedule this year, Better offense and better defense overall..... should equal at least 3 more wins this year regardless if KC and Highsmith get playing time. Now i dont ever want to see them on the field together.

But the other guys will need a break at some point as well, and those guys need to be in the game b/c we dont have depth for them not too.

Chick had his issues with not holding his weight well but at least he got 4 sacks. Shayon didn't do ****.

Stop the run? From where.......10 yards down the field? Green had 2 TFL all year so GTFO. Thats less than 1/3 of what Chick had in an admittedly down year and you want this kid in the regular rotation for a team trying to win the ACC?

WTF

What on Earth are people seeing in Chickillo's game that makes them think he's a 10+ sack guy?

He's a fine player and all, but getting sacks isn't part of his game. Usually all he gets are hustle sacks anyways, and those aren't exactly easy to accumulate a large number of.

I literally cannot fathom how someone can advocate Highsmith Rodgers and Green having significant PT on a team trying to move past mediocrity.

WTF

Chickillo is a better player so lets not act like we didnt have higher expectations then what he was able to do last year??? 4 sacks against who??? He didnt register a sack against any team that mattered... he didnt record a sack or get pressure on any team that was kicking our *** when we needed someone to step up. So why are u slurping up a 4 sack season against maybe Bethune Duke and USF like its any significant??

Shayon was still limping last year, he's not this year, what is wrong with yall?? The guy risked his future health playing on bumb knees last year and still made more plays then all of the healthy players w/ more talent on the dline did that year. I like to give ppl credit when its do.

Shayon isnt gimpy anymore and i expect him to look better then he did last year, i see some of yall dont, but thats fine... we'll see. Other players that are better are going to get the same amount of reps he is going to get so again why is this an issue?

lol you all were saying the same thing about Brandon McGee too

nobodies talking about either of these players having significant playing time but they should and will play.... There is no depth at safety for highsmith and rodgers not to play so there's that????

Shayon Green has earned the playing time he is going to get this season and its simple as that.

Thank U. We don't have have enough D depth yet. That's two years away. That's why I think 9-3. Injuries will happen, but we will improve.

Just enjoy the ride.

rayshawn jenkins can be as good as deon bush

Rayshawn Jenkins can be a good player but Deon Bush is going to be a great player. There's a difference.

One thing is for sure, Golden will not be getting a lot of sleep tonight if the safety play was as bad as reported. We will see just how bad it was when the new depth chart comes out. If Gunter is moved to safety, then the play was horrible.
