Emory has been an FCS level QB since HS. I was bombarded 3 years ago when I said it, but here we are.good point, but where's Emory transferring after that bowl game?

Tells me everything I need to know. You’re more comfortable with Emory as backupThis was my take as well. Of course he can grow into an excellent talent, but he's just your average freshman quarterback right now and I would feel more comfortable with Emory as a backup. Which is okay!
South Dakota Stategood point, but where's Emory transferring after that bowl game?
Luke is bieng an Early Enrollment True Freshman in his 8th Spring Practice Session . What was the expectation that he lights up Practices of the bat.I get it. This is a hater take. But are we finally ready to admit that we all anointed Luke Nickel as the savior way too soon?
Sure, it is still super early in his first Spring Camp and sure, he is super young and there is plenty of time for him to improve. But most of this fanbase was ready to call him the definite backup and QB of the future before he even stepped foot on campus. Now that he has been on campus, reading between the lines, there has been a lot of "well let's see him with better receivers" and "I think he still needs to adjust to the speed" and "its still early".
Through The Smoke went as far as to say that they don't think Miami's future starter is on the roster currently.
Of course I want to see him succeed and become an All-American and call me a hater if you want, but while we are all sitting here pumping Dereon Coleman's tires, I think it is worth trying to have a little perspective about our expectations. We all moaned about how Nickel deserved a fourth star and it sure sounds like after seeing him in practice that he was probably ranked correctly.
Coleman is a completely different player so perhaps I am comparing apples to oranges, but for me, this only cements that we should be on the Portal QB train every season so long as the good options are available.

This is disturbing,
Emory has been an FCS level QB since HS. I was bombarded 3 years ago when I said it, but here we are.
I ******* absolutely hate some of you
You’re absolutely correct, and to be fair, we missed on elite QB’s with Judd’s class and passed on others better than Judd. Still, can’t have a roster with Judd and Emory on it. This is not what we brought Mario for.Emory wasn’t supposed to be the only qb recruit in that. Losing Rashada forced that situation. Not saying things would’ve been different. QB recruiting is such a hit and miss thing. 3/4 of the QBs who played in the semis of the CFP were transfers. Look at the top 10 QB recruits in 2023, Emory’s class, only 4 are at the school they signed with.
It’s just the reality of today’s game. Odds are against your HS recruit hitting. You have to be able to work the portal. Again, I’m not saying taking just Emory was the smart or correct move. But odds are we would’ve been in the same situation we are now if Mario landed more heralded prospects in HS recruiting.
Bryce Underwood, Julian Lewis, Keelon Russell, Deuce Knight, Jaron Sagapolutele just to name a few.
Every situation is different and those guys were all more highly rated and maybe the reporters are just pumping sunshine. But there are a lot of reports about how some of those guys are ahead of schedule while our prized freshman throws to walk-ons.
They got this other QB that was decently rated that didn’t play a snap last year, wonder how overrated he must of been to not even see a snap?Between how much Michigan paid Underwood, and how disgustingly awful their roster QB’s were last year in any attempt to throw a forward pass, Michigan does not have an option. I don’t know if you watched any Michigan games but they treated the froward pass like Bo Schembechler, ‘when you pass the ball, three things can happen and two are bad’.
I will leave that riddle of the sphinx for CIS to figure out.
This place is like a mancave! Ive always just ignored the idiots on here i dont why thats so hard just dont even pay em any attention thats all they want thats what they lack in life! Female traits needa be ignored always!3/4ths? I always get caught up in the same. But I have realized what @RVACane tried to tell me last year that it's a small percentage of them & that group is just endless with the bull****
Don’t really care about the rankings lol, but i agree there shouldn’t be any panicking about luke or any freshman..It’s only spring3 of the top 5 recruits in the country were qbs lol. Luke Nickel has looked good in spring practice so far, so idk why everyone is freaking out
Yawn. If not for Beck... 5c probably winning ACC ROY, ACC POY and finishes in the top 3 HEISMAN voting; dont sleep.I get it. This is a hater take. But are we finally ready to admit that we all anointed Luke Nickel as the savior way too soon?

He's not good enough for South Dakota StateSouth Dakota State
Holy Cross
Bucknell
Grand Valley State
Colgate
SW Oklahoma State
Mount Union
Or any of the Ivy schools
Probably pretty overrated if Michigan felt the need to spend however many millions on Underwood and he wasn't able to beat out Alex Orjii last season. They got this other QB that was decently rated that didn’t play a snap last year, wonder how overrated he must of been to not even see a snap?

Basically the same thing I wrote on ITU. These guys don't even get to see all of practice and after a week they come up with this hot take. Stupid click bait is all it is.There is not one single data point, neither positively or negatively, that allows you to draw a hint of a conclusion about Nickel's future here. He should still be in High School.
When the lights come on and the bullets are live, how does he perform? I don't care one bit about practice reports until I get the answer to that question. Would it be better if the reports were "Holy **** this kid is a 6 foot Peyton Manning!" ?? Sure. But people were beating off mercilessly to Kyle Wright in practices. And the games started, and he crumbled. What is between your ears is just about as important as what is attached to your shoulder as a college QB.
Nickel will be fine. Or he won't. But saying he won't be a starter here after 1 practice in pads is dumb as ****, even for this fanbase/media.
And full disclosure if people think this is a slurper post, I'd say the exact same thing if the reports were that he might win the Heisman this year. Pump ALL the brakes. Let's see him make some presnap reads on 3rd and 7 in front of 65,000 people before we crown or dump him.
