Is it me or do all the potential candidates seem like duds outside of Butch? I just don't see Chuck going to college. I feel like he's planted himself in the NFL and will likely be the
#1 candidate for any team looking to hire this year. My guess is Chuck goes to the Eagles(if Chip overstays his welcome and the Eagles fizzle out the rest of the year), Bucs(hey, a coaching job with a potential top 5 pick and a QB who could end up being a decent NFL starter, why not?), Lions(figure this is a good time to point out that they stink but this is a heavily talented team).
Schiano is iffy. Great recruiter, shady guy, hasn't been in college in a few years. I'm sure he'd love the job. Don't think Miami would love to have him.
Mario Cristobal... varied levels of success at a not-so-big conference school. Miami experience, can recruit the area. Can he sell Miami? Probably. Will he be the
#1 go-to? Nope. Think he'll end up elsewhere.
Chud would be a good coach, for sure. Will he bring the bravado everyone seems to think the college needs? Probably not the big name everyone wants to hear. Chud's got the offensive skills and man, does he have a load of experience coaching under NFL coaching studs.
Fuente is a name I want to hear Miami taking interest in. Guy's got a team that has the high quality recruits stolen from him by **** near everyone, yet he's still out here beating Ole Miss, who has studs all over their team.
Herman not so much. Think he's just a product of the Texas talent needing a place to play, and him having little competition. Houston should be a successful team. They can recruit the entire state of Texas and provide them an in-state place to play, in a big city. Don't get me wrong, he's doing a good job. Just not a Miami guy. Both Fuente and Herman bring up Golden again and although Golden is a great guy, he couldn't coach this team to what is expected.
I just think the coaching situation for Miami is **** poor right now. Thoughts?
