Cam or Pete where do we stand with Gulliver Prep's Dionte Mullins? Has Miami offered? TIA

A little old, but see below:

• Grew up a fan of Miami, but things have changed since the recruiting process has started
• Says as a kid UM was his favorite school, but he sees other colleges are different so he can’t just go by how it was when he was a little kid
• Mullins attended the Al Golden Football Camp but came away disappointed with the event
• Says he went to their camp, but he didn’t like it very well
• Says he didn't like it and he didn’t like the organization they had
• Because of his camp experience, he does not plan on visiting in the fall

Both SBB and Ridley really want to play with CB teammate Ronnie Hoggins at the next level and this person told me that if Miami offered Hoggins, that would go a long way to securing their commitment and they might have committed at their original date if Hoggins had an offer. Do we drop the offer and become guilty of the things that we criticize other coaches for doing? Or do we honor the offer and possibly get stuck with a kid who maybe doesn't fit? What you're proposing is a dangerous precedent to set, ESPECIALLY with SoFla kids. Don't believe for a second that these kids and their 'mentors' don't have their own ways of 'playing' coaches. I'm not saying that you're wrong, but I am saying that "playing the game" goes both ways and can bite you in the *** down the road.

Not all kids want to stay close to home and lose December bowl games.

Some kids see through the bull**** and look at programs that are relevant and competitive.

We might get Johnson, Cronkrite, Irvin, and Cole...but expect a larger group of these S FL kids to spurn Miami for other schools...Burgess-Becker, Ridley, Scarlett, Phillips, Durante, T. McFadden, K. McFadden, etc.

Unfortunately, there are no guarantees. If Miami offers Hoggins then SBB and Ridley bounce, then they have a PR nightmare if they try to drop a kid they didnt want in the first place.

Our fans criticize what other coaches do all the time, and in the meantime ignore when our staff does the same thing. Last time I checked we didnt honor Turner's offer, or Bethel's. What about Alin? College football recruiting is a dirty game not for the weak. Coaching staffs get ****ed over all the time by the kids and vice versa.

Offering Hoggins and honoring that commitment (regardless as to where Ridley and SBB end up) cannot be any worse than bringing in Joe Brown on a scholarship.

If it can potentially help in landing those two, you make the offer, period.

I know you seem to believe that recruiting doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but when you don't run a "system" like Oregon and have a munch of dopey idiots on the sidelines who cannot grasp X's and O's or in-game adjustments, you need to have a talent advantage.

And nice little "just want to leave town" reference. Here's not a novel concept: How about trying to convince kids that staying home is a better alternative to leaving town?

Nevermind the fact SBB's first offer was from Alabama, they've been feverishly recruiting him, and (let's face it) have been significantly more relevant than Miami in putting kids in the league and winning meaningful games in the past few years.

Has to be Genron. Seems legit.

Golden needs to add "winning football games" to his big book of core values if we're ever going to land elite talent like SBB.

We struggle next year and he, along with many others, will go elsewhere.

And I'm sure you will have some sort of elaborate excuse to absolve the staff of any guilt.

We dropped Dennis Turner last year like a bad habit. Same thing with Alin Eduoard. It happens. But the absolute downside of keeping him is that you take a kid with an offer from Wisconsin (and more to come). That's not the end of the world. We just stole a kid from Lindenwood College.

You're probably being facetious, but if not, you've seriously lost your mind. If you believe Golden hired Ice for anything other than recruiting then I'll pray for you.

FSU offered one Alexander to get the other but ended up losing the better brother to Clemson. They beat the death out of the Tigers anyways. They offered Patrick's brother and didn't honor it but still lead for Jacques.

They offered Franklin to get Collins. Collins ends up at sh¡thole while Franklin is on the sidelines celebrating a NC win- I can fvk with that.. Take chances like the big dogs or continue to get the sheet kicked out of you by them.

There's nothing unethical about this. The results can be well worth it and doesn't always hurt.
