Now that I/we know Surtain and Chatfield are very close, I'd be curious to know how important it is for them to play together.

If they really want to play together then that leaves Miami and LSU. (Chatfield doesn't have a Bama offer)

And if what my buddy says is true, then Surtain ain't thrilled about LSU.
And if they do want to play together, and Surtain is supposedly going to LSU, why wouldn't Chatfield be going there as well? (instead of being solid to Miami)

Everyone know LSU is canning coach O after this season. Surtain Sr. been around the block and will tell Jr. to pick school over coach. I still believe he ends up at LSU with Miami finishing second. I like your positivity tho

But from what I'm being told Pat Sr doesn't really want his boy living in Louisiana. And Pat's a mama's boy as well. Mama wants him home.

If that's the case then why go on the OV to LSU

After watching the jobe saga unfold how could anyone possibly put blame on the coaches. The kid was playing games and we still were trying to sway him until the very last minute

To the point where ppl were giving the staff crap for even trying to keep him.. now the view point has changed to meet the Doom and gloom agenda where we "f***ed around"

I'm not blaming the coaches for Jobe leaving. I think the issue was the coaches stayed committed to Jobe for too long.
Kid made it obvious to everyone. They should have been looking for his replacement way before Jobe made it official.
Kid had been telegraphing his move for a while.

It's not like they weren't looking for replacements and just stopped talking to ppl to fill his spot, as soon as jobe showed true signs of leaving they went for Samuel

Keep in mind jobe was probably lying and misleading to our coaches, never even told them he was flipping

Although true, a good contingent of us saw what Jobe was about since February of last year. If you have a solid portion of the fanbase that can read the kid, but you as a staff member who talks directly to the kid can't read the situation, then that's bad.

Outside of a Corey Raymond or T Rob (who is a DC now) who is this upgrade we're getting at DB coach in terms of recruiting?

We ended up w Rumph for a reason.

I don’t understand this if your referring to it being a money thing.When Richt got here it sure looked like he got what he wanted and if it took another 50 grand a year to get a coach that could coach AND recruit I don’t see where he wouldn’t have gotten it.

Dumpf( and yea he’s back to dumpf) has done a DECENT job,not good,not great,decent.The fact he couldn’t recruit his own kid by the looks of it makes him more than expendable.

No way that this AH class didn’t play into his hiring and he totally failed...bye bye...you gotta go.

Absolutely the AH connection and Richt's previous interactions/relationship with Rumph played a large part (as well as him being an alum). Richt no doubt thought homeboy was plugged in heavy down here, but my larger point is I don't see any recruiting dogs outside of the two I mentioned who are going to do any better. Let's list all of Rumph's DB misses --

Henderson
Byrd
Wilson
Campbell*
Surtain*

Every last one of them ended up or will end up in the SEC. That's not going to change for another cycle at least. Not at that position, where every team can take 4-6 every cycle. It's just too much competition for us right now. It's crazy, you look at a guy like Coley whose main job is to recruit South Florida, but yet, when he was in South Florida, his recruiting game was garbage. His DB haul is better than his WR haul which is the position he actually coaches!

We gotta have one more good season (NO MORE LOSING STREAKS), and watch how all of a sudden Rumph and Kool and Banda magically become recruiting beasts.

I just don't like that when players, no matter the player, the thread may get 10 pages. Some kid decides to go elsewhere look we are already at 40 pages. Celebrate every kid that doesnt come here like they are future NFL All Pro locks and barely blink when kids that do want to be part of bringing us back commit. Look at the DB signees we already have, they are disregarded because a couple that apparently weren't ever coming here, didn't.

And we still got 3 weeks of this ****. They have locked other threads about it and this one is still going to reach
Gator tears level before Feb if they let it. But if he committed here, **** everybody would disappear again and it would be the same few welcoming him to the U. Misery loves company but we shouldn't be ****** miserable.

I think it would have been neat to see a 2nd 5* in the class and see us get some extra hype in all the recruiting and talent talk. It's a shame that won't work out. But either way, we have a great class any resurgent blue-blood program would be happy with and a class 95% of programs would kill for.

Rumph may have dropped the ball a bit, but the kid has a say in it too. It's idiotic to judge a kid who can go anywhere in the country for wanting to go somewhere a bit different from where they've spent their whole lives. Seeing different people and places is important at that age. All this "rep for the home town" nonsense is over done. If everyone stuck with that, how many of us fans would there be? How many great players wouls have gone to different schools? All of us here are diehard Canes fans so we're biased, but how many of us wouldn't look at other places and think about it of we were in the same position?

I agree with you on that because of the way they handled the Jobe situation. The early signing period does take 70% of the players off the board, which really changes the game on a staff who misses their top target who waits till NSD.

I'm rolling with the reverse ju ju. They've felt confident a bunch of times only to be left with their dorks in their hands. So, I'm playing opposite on this one. We get all 4 AH guys.
