You don't drop kids like jobeAfter watching the jobe saga unfold how could anyone possibly put blame on the coaches. The kid was playing games and we still were trying to sway him until the very last minuteWhy attack Campbell, he didn't play games with his recruitment, but Rumph missing out on TC, Surtain, Jobe and Samuel is a big fail. This staff ****ed around with Jobe way too long and lost Samuel. This is an excellent class, it will put us in the playoffs again in a year or two, but we missed our mark to have an insane db class.
This is fair. Agree on all points.
To the point where ppl were giving the staff crap for even trying to keep him.. now the view point has changed to meet the Doom and gloom agenda where we "f***ed around"
I'm not blaming the coaches for Jobe leaving. I think the issue was the coaches stayed committed to Jobe for too long.
Kid made it obvious to everyone. They should have been looking for his replacement way before Jobe made it official.
Kid had been telegraphing his move for a while.
It's not like they weren't looking for replacements and just stopped talking to ppl to fill his spot, as soon as jobe showed true signs of leaving they went for Samuel
Keep in mind jobe was probably lying and misleading to our coaches, never even told them he was flipping
Yep on Pace to get sanguinetti and Stevenson.Maybe we hired the wrong coach from American Heritage
**** that, Rumph is a Cane through and through. Guy is a national champion on the best CFB team of all time. Turned Folden JAGS into all conference dudes. Very well could pull two 5 star DBs next class. Brought in 3 very solid studs at DB this class. Rumph is a very good young coach. Can't sell a kid on something he doesn't want...for goodness sake, kids go against their parents all the time, choose universities that run counter to what mom and dad want...
Wouldn't that be some ****. Ppl on here will give rumph exactly zero percent credit if he does get them both and exactly 100% blame if he doesn't
Wait a second that's the same thing that was said last year about Campbell.
"He missed this year but wait until he gets Campbell next year"
Just to be clear I think we have an excellent DB class and I think Rumph does a good job coaching the CB's.
Just pointing out that this the same thing that was said last year when we missed on two CB's
I will add that it’s pretty embarrassing that Rumph couldn’t land this kid. It’s his old high school, along with his current position group. This should have been a slam dunk. I’m starting to get the vibe that maybe kids didn’t really like Rumph that much at AH, which is why it’s hard for him to convince them to play for him again.

If we are getting a 2nd Work, it has to be good/big news. Pete could easily post in this thread if it was just a small update.
it's possibly just the story of Anaele committing

You win some and lose some...he pulled in three 4 star CBs. He likely will hit on at least one 5 star next class...if this becomes a trend in that he misses on top guys that should be coming here for say...three years in a row, that sets a precedence and trend....but the guy just hit on three 4 stars!!! That's doing work!

But but Rumph is like a second father to him! There is no way to spin this. This is an absolutely epic epic epic fail for this staff and Rumph. That star studded DB class lost Jobe and now Campbell. It's obvious to me that we are still in the little leagues. Whiffing on Campbell is an embarrassment to this program. Before everyone gets all bent out of shape about my post I realize that we have an excellent class that is loaded with talent. Campbell is the type of elite recruit that we needed to sign but obviously that is just too much to ask of Rumph and staff.
To put it all in the proper perspective consider the fact that Rumph has known Tyson all his life and is considered a second father to Tyson. Rumph coached him in HS. We have a huge need at CB. We are a program that is clearly on the rise coming off a 10 win season. Miami is the home team. All this and we can't close the young man. Rumph needs to be shown the door as soon as signing day is over. This can't be overlooked. Just a total embarrassment and a complete joke. It would be funny if it wasn't so downright pathetic.
Outside of a Corey Raymond or T Rob (who is a DC now) who is this upgrade we're getting at DB coach in terms of recruiting?
We ended up w Rumph for a reason.

Why don't we let signing day get here and see what happens. Then when it's all over, let the reporters ask Campbell why he chose who he chose...then maybe we will have insights into the young man and his thinking. You guys are all making judgement calls in a vacuum...like Rumph and our coaches are the only ones with a say-so. The kid is not a robot, he is in the drivers seat. It is his life and future. In the military we would say that "the enemy has a vote" we don't operate in a vacuum.
I don't know who Pete's source is but a Heritage coach told me something completely different about Campbell. He also said don't be surprised if we get Surtain.

With all due respect, you don’t know what the f@ck you’re talking about. Coaching staff has done a great job. By far surpassed my expectations with this class and they have been working their asses off. You’re an ungrateful somamambich, we are going into year 3 just now with this truly being his 2nd recruiting class. Show some f@cking maturity and be patient gottdammit!Recruiting is sales. You hire a rookie salesman you get rookie results. Is Rumph to blame? No it’s the man who hired him, and he needs to go. It’s not based entirely on Campbell but part of his body of work since he’s been here. Part ways with him now, maybe he’ll learn and find his way back to an elite program if he has undeveloped salesman talent.
