The Work 1-15

It's not a good sign Rumph if at the end of this cycle Rumph is at least 0-4 in trying to his former CB's to play for him.

That's awful.

It's worse than that. This was our best year in a decade. We had a national ****ing craze created with the turnover chaing. THE **** TURNOVER CHAIN!! And he can't ride this momentum to close on anyone? Not even his former players? **** is worse than I even thought. We are going to go 0-4 on the top guys from South Florida and it looks like the 2 he was closest to won't even consider us for an OV.

He did close on 2 very good CB prospects. Just not his former players. Gotta stay accurate here.

For the sake of accuracy, Herbert is one win from AH.

"I will not take no for an answer" - Tyson Campbell's former head coach and alleged mentor.

Un-f'ing-believable

Asante, Surtain, Jobe, Campbell, leave South Florida while we turn to Nigel Bethel.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Wilson (another kid he knew forever), CJ Henderson, Brian Edwards...off the top of my head.

Swags hes been a failure recruiting almost at epic levels. Coaching at a position where YOU HAVE to be a great recruiter. Good guy, but man if he doesnt land Campbell. He is new orleans safety level from yesterday...like he shouldnt even show up for signing day at the office.

No one in the history of college football has ever hired a coach directly from HS who has been this cataclysmic of a failure in recruiting the school he left. It's almost comical at this point. Yet, there are still clowns excusing this nonsense.

Rick thought this guy had juice, and that's why he hired him. You don't hire a HS football coach to coach CBs only with the idea you are bringing in Bill Belichick or Vince Lombardi. He hired him to lock up recruits.

He's done a decent job with the CBs, but so what. So would almost anyone with coaching experience above Optimist football if all they had to do was coach 8 guys within the scheme laid out to him by the DC.

Miami with Ice Harris

Dude couldn't even get his own son to commit to us, lol.

Couldnt get his son to commit to us as a cb..we didnt want him at qb. Rumph is losing ALL of his kids hes coached since Optomist and high school basically. One he read so bad..he actually promoted the signing to a rival school. Ice harris has delivered way more kids to um than Rumph did.

How close is this source to Campbell though that Pete got the info from the work today from though? That’s a pretty important detail because rattler as of two weeks ago or roughly said that Campbell told him he wanted to stay home but he is doing his due dilligience with visits and stuff and that’s coming directly from him after talking to him. Regardless the staff has work to do here period either way.

I have a funny feeling I know who Pete’s source is and if I’m correct he would know pretty well. Current staff members that may coach’s DBs not names Rumph

Yet we took bandy last year and he ended up being our best corner smh the whole height thing is retarded with coaches

Bandy is bigger than samuel.

Not by a lot, if a kid can play the whole height thing shouldn’t matter, samuels was the best cover corner in SoFl and he wanted to be a cane but we slow played him, he should have been a cane

Lol If Samuel wanted to be a cane he would be. He wanted to rep FSU it's that simple. You think a real UM fan with an offer to play for them, would really say nah im going to FSU??

SMH yea hes going to come a school that a staff doesn’t want him at come on now

Lol If the staff didn't want him they wouldn't have offered. If I was a 5 star cornerback and Miami was my favorite school but they didn't offer me until late...

I'm still not committing to FSU under any circumstances or any school where I would play UM regularly. More than likely I'm still going to commit to Miami though. Recruiting is just business deal with it.

Our current 2 DB coach setup has produced...

- Lost last-minute battle with Butch Jones for our top DB target when they first arrived.
- Went 0-for-4 in head-to-head battles with Jim McElwain for top DB targets the following year.
- Lost the Jobe battle, botched the Samuel recruitment, and appear on the verge of losing the Campbell/Surtain battles.

There would be no justifying Richt sticking with the Rumph/Banda duo heading into next year unless he wants history to repeat itself next year with Dent, Sanguinetti, Stevenson, Richards, Davis, Elam, etc. I could understand some wanting Banda kept on staff and possibly reassigned to LBs or special teams, but it would be irrational and incompetent to maintain the status quo at DB.

You get what you pay for. Time to shell out the money for a DB coach that can both recruit and develop. Our current setup is keeping the floodgates to South Florida wide open.

No doubt UGA has been telling Tyson Campbell that if they had him on the team they would have won a national championship. Thats tough to argue with, because its not exactly wrong. Their one cb was getting his *** worked all game, and gave up that final TD because he didn't reroute the WR at all. 2 of the 3 schools we are competing with for him were just in the National Championship that either team could have won. And the school that is the biggest threat to us is UGA who was an inch away. I mean all uga has to do is show Campbell tape of their dbs getting worked, and how he could be THE difference maker. Thats tough to battle with.

Having said all that **** all of you, and Pete too, he's going to be a Cane.
one of the most revered video posters on this site proclaimed months ago that Miami had nothing to fear from UGA, because Miami doesn’t lose recruits to UGA.

Uga was doing this last year and this uear it has nothing to do with them playing for a title. They let go of MR so they can play the bag game they want to win badly and there higher ups said fuq this we should be better. Thats the truth

Come on u really believe its about wins and losses.....they said win 10 and they will come and thats bs as we did win ten. If its about wins then tc will go to bama

This.

Here's what it comes down to. We're NEVER going to get every stud kid in South Florida. There will be a Josh Jobe, a Tyson Campbell, a Patrick Surtain in every single class no matter how good we get.

Alabama lost a lot of in-state kids to Auburn. Georgia lost a lot of in state kids to Alabama. NOBODY keeps everybody home... it just doesn't happen.

The difference between Miami and Georgia/Alabama is that they can go out of state and more than make up for the kids they miss at home.

Miami signs its ENTIRE class from Florida... and then when kids leave, we replace them with LOCAL LEFTOVERS.

Can't be doing that. Can't bank on South Florida kids. We need to do a better job of recruiting nationally.

So.....everyone complains...we'll get to 50 pages by dinner on this.

What's the solution...how do you recruit guys? We will sit here bashing Rumph but how do you recruit what do you sell them on? In all seriousness

You fire Rumph and bring in someone who can win recruiting battles. Miami should never be signing 3-star scrubs at CB.

I must've missed something...which DB that we signed is a 3-star scrub?

not a win. He got dropped by Michigan and his 2nd choice didnt have a coach (uf)

Herbert still is a good get for us and will be a 2 yr starter at minimum

Maybe its a HC thing it all starts up top

Probably a dumb question - but are we completely out of it for Surtain?

We needed Campbell....

So then Surtain will follow Campbell to UGA if that's where Campbell winds up?

No, that only applies to us. Everyone else is good enough to stand on their own merits while we continue to get cucked by local kids, even ones with ties to the position coach.

The WEZ proves right yet again....everything they say happens it seems. Good recruiting site just read there recruiting board them boys ahead of the curve. And i hope MR isnt like AG holding onto weaknesses in his staff. If they cant cutt it get rid of them....question is Rumph would go coach at bama and clean up sfla. Its either a coach problem or infastructure problem. We never can pinpoint wtf is going on its why most of us know bags r involved.

Is the WEZ just one person? How does that work that this mythical mystical WEZ is always right?

Some of us knew then that this was a red flag and were told to just wait. Then last year happens and it was "judge him by 2018." Welp....

Smh sad Campbell doesn't want to be here but **** it we're going to make him wish he came and the kids here will put on for us. I'm not stressing his *** if he isn't stressing us

On the real rumph may not be a strong recruiter but you dudes are delusional if you think the reason guys aren't coming is because they didn't like the way rumph said they can get early pt.

Its gotta be that because we had our DBs making plays all year, we have the depth, he fits what we want perfectly at corner, had a 10 win season that would have been 11 if we didn’t have the canceled game, thats very easy to sell even if he wasnt the kids mentor growing up

Edwards, Henderson, Wilson, Surtain, Jobe, Samuels, Campbell....

South Florida CBs have been absolutely pillaged under Richt/Rumph.

That HAS to change for us to get where we need to be.

We couldn't cover our own shoes for much of this season, and we still can't get elite local CBs to come here to snatch that playing time. Rick and Rumph should be on suicide watch.

Is Rick still holding onto his in-home visit with Asante Samuel? Think he can redeem that for an extra in-home with Campbell?

Blame Rumph all you want but make sure you blame a lot of yourselves and most of your neighbors for making this the softest part of the country for a kid to leave to go play for some hilljack supported SEC team.

There's ZERO fear in ANY of these kids or their families about leaving here (and often outright disrespecting Miami as they do so). And I'm not talking stupid **** like fear of violence (even though Michael Irving said that'd have been the case for him) but just plain ol' fear of mass disappointment and social blowback.

Soooo go ahead and call for Rumph's head but make sure y'all hold every clown wishing every local kid well while sayin' "God bless! Go get yours!" and "You can rep da 305/954 anywhere!" to the same standard as they're just as much of the problem.

Losing Campbell, Surtain, and Jobe to SEC powers while we possibly settle for a recruit we're literally only "battling" UCF for sounds extremely familiar.

The DB coaching setup needs to be held accountable if we don't want this happening again with the 2019 class.

"DT Jamarcus Chatman: I mentioned a few weeks back on the podcast that the coaches were working quietly on a few names at DT, but did not want to necessarily tip off other schools that they were strongly in the picture — Chatman was one of those prospects. He is another Georgia product that I would consider the Canes a heavy favorite for. What looked like an area of concern from the outside just a few weeks ago could turn into a trio of Nesta Silvera, Briggs, and Chatman — no doubt that would be an extremely solid group. "

Read in Georgia paper that Chapman is now weighing 272 at 6-3 ( he was 261 last March at Nike) so does not need much more muscle to play DT.
TOS in recent write up had Briggs at 270 ( he was 255 at the Nike early last February--2017)
And of course Silvera is already a beast at over 300.

Guys that are athletic and fit the attack style of defense like McIntosh, etc.
