The U Administration's commitment to Miami football...

With the distance of our campus to the Atlantic Ocean and the propensity for hurricanes…I wonder if the steel structure that so many teams have gone with wound't cut it down here. In addition, insuring that ***** would be pretty substantial I'd imagine.

let's be honest here.

this is a chicken or egg problem.

Administration isn't spending money because our football program in the recent years haven't proved to be profitable.

recently, they shared some of their massive donations to the football program that essentially built the entire school.

now, we are lagging in facilities, but we DO have the players and SHOULD have a pretty productive season this year and put asses on seats.

If the team fails THIS YEAR, it's not because of facilities. It's because of coaches and/or players.

If someone is only looking at the pure hard dollars a football program provides to determine profitably, I'd say they are being short-sighted. Miami would essentially be Pepperdine if there was no football program. Studies bare out time and time again that the visibility of a football program (in some cases basketball) greatly influences the number of applications. I'll let you deduce the supply/demand effect that has on a small private school with a very limited number of spots to fill.

"Shalala is committed to winning."

Awesome. That's really great. Miami has lost five or more games six out of the last eight years. So she's committed to winning, and for that reason we'll forgive the fact that she clearly has no idea how to actually do it? Sorry, not this guy. At some point she needs to stop getting a free pass because she's trying and start owning up to the fact that she has been failing.

It's like if you had a child who had a really serious disease. There was a chance he could be cured if you went to the right doctors, let them do the right tests, let them perform the correct surgeries etc. But instead the people who said "As parents, we're committed to making sure little Jimmy beats this disease!" decided that they weren't going to do any of that and were only going to pray for Jeebus to magically cure him. Or were only going to use herbal and homeopathic remedies to beat cancer or whatever he has. What good is being committed if after you declare your commitment you keep making the wrong decisions? Why should that impress anyone?

Would an indoor practice facility be nice? Sure. Is it the sole reason Miami is consistently losing? No. Is it even in the top 20? No. Why are you guys getting distracted by something so inconsequential when the reason Miami's football program is a joke is staring you right in the stomach?

What's the reason?

dont understand people complaining about getting improvements for our football team. should have alot of these said upgrades happened years ago, sure. But they didnt and we are now finally getting them. whats the old saying.... "better late than never..." smh

Yo, they are madder than a **** because someone said they appreciate the upgrades. Rustled to the max.

Never knew reading was such a hard thing to do until I started posting on message boards.

The OP did not say only he appreciates the upgrades. Oh no, the OP can't make things that simple and human. Instead the OP told you that these upgrades were great, that he likes them, and that because he likes them you better agree or you are stupid and not a canes fan.

Perhaps these nuances is not as noticeable to some people. It is the only reason I opined in this thread. It is one of the douchiest and most condescending things I have ever read.

LOL at UM being committed to football.

Ask yourself this:
What elite program allows a DC with the 3 worst historical defensive rankings to return
What elite program hires a stooge like coker and extends both he and Dee's contracts while the program is on a steady decline
What elite program promotes a DC to HC from a failed regime with no HC experience
What elite program runs through the amount of AD's we have over the past 5 years and settles on a puppet without experience
What elite program extends a new HC contract for 8 years when he hasn;t played in a major bowl game
What elite program allows a HC to return after disappearing for a weekend to secretly interview for another gig and ignore his employers phone calls (even BC fired Jag for this kind of non sense)
What elite program has a HC whom has a handful of wins vs opponents above .500 finishing records for his entire career
How many Div 1 schools lack their own stadium

Is that what elite programs committed to winning do?

UM has the money to make a homerun HC hire and staff since they won't invest in a stadium

Person A says administration is not committed to the football program.

Administration makes commitment by upgrades, OP is excited about them.

OP says "Anyone who criticizes them with regards to their commitment to UM Football needs to deactivate their CaneCard"

Where is the part that says you are stupid if you dont agree?

It's a little soft shouldered to get so hurt over something as simple as "deactivating" a cane card.

You are reading too much into it.

Not at all. I'm reading exactly what he wrote. They say this guy has been a condescending prick for over a decade. I've only had glimpses of it...now I just saw it full blast. So I called him the fa66ot that he is.

Tokens, niner must've just activated his CaneCard and is trying like **** to keep it that way. Cut him some slack.

Personally, my CaneCard was deactiviated years ago over fake NSD personal messages, but that's a whole different story.

I think some of that money may have been spent on people.
Look who we hired in this last year alone, Tim Harris, and the other local coach (his name escapes me.) This has been without attrition of other staff members. Also, have 4 GAs which is more then the 2 of before. The recent addition to the S&C to help Swasey. So they're is improvement on that field.
These hires have been pretty evident in our recent success in the South Florida recruiting.

I'm sure we'd all like to see budget's the size of Alabama or Texas, but realistically you don't NEED it to win, mind you it sure helps. So I think there is marked improvement in that area. As Al would say, we're trending up!

How many ships has Texas won?

Then it should be easy for you to prove it wrong. Perhaps you'll point to Miami's on the field success. Perhaps all the recent early draft picks they've sent to the NFL. Maybe you'll really have me looking foolish when you reference all the great teams they've beaten and UM's success against quality opposition. I eagerly await you clowning the **** out of me.
