You have problems in front of you, are you willing to solve them. You do the immediate the best you can, move on to the next and so on.

1. DC. That is the most immediate problem.
2. QB.
3. DBs and LBs
4. Keeping the OC

If you solve all those, to the best of your ability, does that mean we win more games next year? Absolutely not. Cam Ward 2.0 is not walking through those doors. But to D$ point, you don't need to have Cam 2.0 to improve on what we did here, because the D caused us to NEED Cam Ward.

I'm not putting rosey sunshine here, I don't think we get 10 wins next year, but I think we can improve on our position in we get better at where we are horrible at and make improvements we can build on.

2024 had the real opportunity to be special that doesn't come around often, but we blew it. We need to move past that and let it go. Getting rid of Mario would be stupid, as it would be 4 steps back instead of 2. But Mario has to take steps forward.

im not expecting any changes on the D side.

you did push for a portal QB but you did say a week or so ago that the team believes in emory blah blah blah and others have said hes looked good and we would be fine with him. dude is trash. he was trash last year and hes trash this year. hes got no arm, no mental clock, no awareness, and hes inaccurate. literally the same player as last year. fans fell in love w him bc he broke his arm. he needs to be told to move on asap and transfer out of here. hes not a p4 QB let alone a D1 qb. hes god awful. team is in trouble next year.

- Cam Ward is a legend in my book. He spotted us 31 points in a half and we still couldn't win. It was symbolic of the whole season, really.

- On Mario, my realistic expectations were a repeat of Oregon- the good and the bad. We're currently running behind that pace. We still haven't made a conference title, and we just missed a golden opportunity with an elite quarterback. Year 4 is critical and there is a ton of work that needs to be done.

- We have some smart players, but we aren't a smart team. One simple example- we're 121st in penalty yards. Iowa State is 1st.

- Not much more to say about the defense. In person, it's jarring how frantic we look pre-snap. This is Game 13. The unit is full of veterans - fourth, fifth and sixth-year players. Something isn't connecting. I'd be shocked if there aren't significant changes on that side of the ball.

- We threw for 1.9 yards per attempt in the second half. This is why I've pushed so hard for a Portal QB. My concern with Emory Williams dating back to high school is athleticism. Nothing looks fluid and easy. I continue to expect us to add a Portal QB and fast-track Luke Nickel.

- Damien Martinez is a horse. Over 1,000 yards, 10 TDs, 6+ yards per carry. It feels like forever ago when people were saying he was the 3rd best back on the team. Sometimes it's important to trust track record.

- It's hard to lose when you run for over 300 yards as a team. The running game is the one area where I feel the floor has been raised significantly.

- We should be further along at linebacker after three years. That group has been average. Forget the elite guys like Vilma and DJ - a Quarterman/Pickney duo would improve our defense significantly. It's worth investing Portal money to land an impactful player here.

- JoJo Trader and Elija Lofton gave us a glimpse of what they've been doing on Greentree. I hope both are featured players in 2025. We're losing a lot of production, but a good chunk of that production can be replaced from within.

- We've been decimated by injury at corner and we were already bad there. OJ Frederique looked OK on the sideline, but when he went left the game we were forced to play Markeith Williams on an island. It's hard to oversign there- we need a lot of help.

- The silver lining for me is that there were no injuries. Thank you to all the players who have put their bodies on the line for the Canes.

Is there any chance Martinez could be convinced to return if the pay is right? Qb situations seems super bleak right now so having a sort of 3 headed monster ar RB with a solid OL would be a welcomed site. Not sure all 3 RBs would want to coexist together though. Would love to have Mesidor back for another yr...no clue what happened with Bain this year. Hopefully he snaps back next yr.

ungrateful ******* are the only ones blaming cam. when I told everyone we were a team carried by cam and this year was all cam ward led, people balked and gave me excuses. how's that looking now. Mario still cant manage situational football (either let them score from the 2 or call a time out).

Im a believer in you will only be as smart as the head coach he raises the entire building...Not just players but your entire staff’s overall iq will only go as high as the head coaches iq is imo.

Mario is not a smart coach and its reflected in his teams (Oregon had the same penalty issues).

He has to absolutely nail the next DC hire and deliver a legit top 20 defense in 2025 AND find a top 20 QB or the W/L record is gonna look BAD BAD and then see what the recruiting looks like

Most Miami fans do. I feel like this was a great season. As good as it’s going to get. 2017 and this year were cool to watch. If people think we are a national championship team, they are nuts. We haven’t been in the same universe as the top 3-4 teams in over 15 years

Nah. Look at the running back discussions. Look at the DB discussions. LBers.

All these oversold to us.

All offseason and recently: RB portal thread - we have Martinez and we”ll sees, new DB add / we have be nice guys, we don’t want him to be beat by message board feelings …

Less coordinated disinformation, more coaching, hiring and talent acquisition to win conference titles, make the playoffs and not embarrass yourselves and all of us.

For the king of all college football media, the handling of the Cam and X situations leading to backlash is weak and shows Mario is nothing but a fake tough guy - some Miami standard he is setting.

Mario was brought in to build something sustainable and lay a championship caliber foundation

So far he’s needed to fill big holes every offseason due to recruiting misses (which isn’t supposed to happen with Mario) or bad staff hires, this one being no different

He needs to hit on a top portal QB and Top DC to have anywhere near the season we had this year

I think Mario is already a failure. As a fan I sure hope for success but Mario is just not the guy.

One of my greatest fears about remaining in the third-rate ACC is that lesser financial resources would limit our ability to pay a proven staff. Couple that with Mario’s struggles in consistently identifying and hiring top-flight coordinators and position coaches and we’d never get off this merry-go-round of mediocrity.

The QB recruiting should be a fireable offense. If Emory and Judd hit the portal right now theyd go G5. Going into year 4 that is unacceptable. All the good young skill kids we have are going to leave

Cristobal fate as a coach will always depend on his coordinators hire. He personally doesn’t give any advantage on Gameday (one could argue is a liability in that department) and if he goes 0/2 with his coordinators the season would be a disaster, at 1/2 the season is good but underachieving, 2/2 is probably a grand slam.

That’s the huge downgrade of hiring a career position coach/recruiter as HC: you can’t count on any guarantees in at least one side of the field.

We couldnt have hired Cristobal at a worse time. The game drastically changes with the portal and nullifies his strength as a high school recruiter 2 years into his tenure because high school recruiting is now pretty much irrelevant. Now were shackled with a bafoon who cant coach and his recruiting prowess neutralized. We need a head coach with a brain. This dude preaches LOS domination has the ball on the 2 could have iced the game and kicks a field goal with no defense and no way to get the ball past the 50 in a 2 minute offense
 
I’m just surprised with the dline, those guys really underperformed . Our db group was already bad but they have no chance if we didn’t get the pressure we expected up front

I think it goes beyond penalties, just overall attention to detail and just football awareness. I don’t want to compare it to other coaches cause of this board lol but its just different levels of football minds, fans underrate how important that is
 
they looked so confused pre snap every single play I knew we were in for a shootout. And soon as I saw #13 in motion and then dying hill (imma let autocorrect keep that) covering him I said this finna be a first down and boom.
The crowd chanting we want cam was funny even though I knew Emory was staying out there. We could’ve won that game easily but……sigh i won’t beat the dead horse
