The Past Decade: Revealed

This is what happens when we don't have high school football press box duties to keep him busy. Page after page after page of defending a guy who has won two games in Omaha in 10 years.

Because Coastal.

Only side to be on in this whole argument is jagr. Fact after fact and people still want to defend Morris. 2 wins in Omaha in 10 years should really just end the thread.

2nd best record in the country this year, best record in the best baseball conference in college baseball, 2 straight trips to the CWS, add in that the rules do not favor private universities and people are so clueless that they criticize the HC who is obviously doing something right.

I don't think anyone disagrees with any of those achievements. They're worth celebrating, and I think we're all happy about those things.

You know what Morris isn't doing right out of all of those things, though? He's not winning in Omaha. Not a good look...and that's what people are discussing.

If you don't get that, move on.

So sad that Miami fans are so championship-averse these days. It used to be that Omaha was the only thing that mattered. Now, people are so worried about criticism of Jim Morris that Omaha is the only thing that DOESN'T matter.

A sample size of 66 is indicative and, most probably, statistically significant. A sample size of 2, against different opponents, reflects random events (error). Piccolo's analysis is sound and correct. Using the indicative data, 66 games, implies that Morris produced the second best team in the country during the past 2-seasons.

If the Hurricanes reach Omaha consecutively during the next 6-years, I guarantee a Championship (does anyone even understand why?).

If Omaha consisted of 4 teams playing 3 game series, then you could maybe fault Morris. The NBA, NHL and MLB all utilize 7-game series because it implies statistical significance behind the crowning of a champion (and it generates more revenue).

Once a team arrives in Omaha, the result is primarily due to random error. That is infallible, irefutable math.

In other words......

In other words... KeyWest's most recent comment is akin to entering your child in a coin flip contest and yelling at him when he only wins 1/2 the time.

Do you realize how dumb you sound?

Once you get to Omaha, luck plays to much of a role. You cannot understand basic statistics, so you are essentially lambasting someone for losing a coin flip.

Morris has the most control over the regular season and he has fielded the 2nd best team two years in a row, and arguably one of the best 10 in 2014.

It's embarrassing watching some stats guy try to compare a baseball game to a coin flip. We get it, no one is touching your precious Jim Morris. But stop defending his failures with this "random" bull****. You can continue to watch him fail in the postseason and blame it on randomness. The rest of us will expect postseason success.

We lost in the CWS due to randomness/bad luck. And the bad format. And because the games in Omaha are basically a coin flip.

So...nothing to do with baseball in between the lines. We just aren't lucky, and neither is Morris when it come to Omaha.

Guys...sounds like to me we'd better hope Gino has a horseshoe implanted up his ******.

Just do us a favor. Don't ever.....EVER....tell us again that Jim Morris has won two championships. You people have now firmly put yourselves in the camp that Jim Morris had nothing to do with those titles.

You can also flip a coin for 10-years and, you know what, heads is going to come up 50% of the time.

If they sent 4 teams to Omaha and you had two, 3-game series, then you can blame Morris.

Morris is not doing anything different in Omaha than what he does during the regular season.

You can criticize Morris for not fixing the Recruiting coordinator position until the 2012 season- that is perfectly valid - but the 2014 was a definitively top-10 team, and his last two squads were the 2nd best teams in the country. You do not fire a coach producing at such a superlative level.

But Morris IS doing something different than in the regular season. He is playing better teams. That's where the coin flip nonsense goes out the window. Soft program that folds when things get tough.
