I shouldn't be. I barely even follow the NFL until playoff time and to watch the coaching carrousel and to figure out who Miami should hire..You are the Liberty City El/memnon of NFL assistant coaching names...

I tried to argue this with a coke dealer one time and I thought he was going to kill me.Is that a 3 1/2 gram 8-ball....or are you ripping us off a 1/2 gram??
Another element as to why I think it does go that direction. Also IF that's the direction Miami goes (NFL), it also tells me that Zo is addressing your earlier point about the GM-head coach personnel relationship. Which would be great news, IMO.
Here's hoping. Zo wouldn't take the gig just to be eye candy, IMO.Another element as to why I think it does go that direction.
@GrozDozer ....The stories I could tell you my man about the 80s living in Miami & St Petersburg...Sheesh....Especially in the Culinary/Chef trade, where you were working 15hr days/nights. @Peruche ....Does Danny Diamond ring a Bell with you??....Lol...I tried to argue this with a coke dealer one time and I thought he was going to kill me.
I do not mind him as a WR/TE coach. He is an elite recruiter and we can use some help at WR.
Agreed. I’m curious if this drags on much further in terms of timing just with spring ball around the corner. You would have to think Mario wants the new OC’s playbook in the offense’s hands especially TVD and Jacurri as soon as possible. I lived through a few OC changes and while it’s still football, the terminology, scheme and style can be significantly different and make the the adjustment challenging initially. For example going from a concept based scheme where essentially the play stays the same regardless of personnel versus a system that employs more customization of plays based on game plan and a play may have several variations and route combinations depending on personnel.Another element as to why I think it does go that direction.
I was talking UConn, before he got to Smu. His coaching career got a huge bump at UM. A lot of people wasn’t giving him credit for Smu since Dykes was the HC. Coming to UM got him on instant credibility especially with how bad the o was the year prior.I don’t disagree but you just called the OC position at SMU one of the worst jobs in football. That I guess would make the HC position there almost one of the worst jobs. LOL
He's not eye candy - although he's primarily involved in recruiting strategy, scouting, identifying, and self-scout. Typically player personnel stuff and not as much coaching decisions. I'm sure Mario leverages it a bit. Here's hoping. Zo wouldn't take the gig just to be eye candy, IMO.
I would not be surprised if this was the hold up with Candle but I am just speculating. I think Candle wants to bring 1 or 2 staff members. We will know if Candle is the guy or not soon.
Calabrian like me. I always wished he play for Juve.
Some combos that would “make sense”This is 0 information and just a gut feeling but my sights are set on someone either from the NFL or some kind of NFL influence. Last year it was all Joe Brady, Dorsey, and Coen (1 year removed from the NFL) until Gattis came into the picture. The college guys were quickly weeded out because they ride coattails of guys like Heupel, Riley, Dykes, etc.
It's easier to vet NFL candidates because teams aren't holding guys back from "promotions" to OC even in college and you have connects in guys like Zo who knows everyone. Mario is also tight with Darren Rizzi and Dennis Allen from the Saints, McVay, and others at that level. It's a lot easier to vet and get feedback on those guys.
I'd be surprised if the OC isn't in that mold: Joe Brady, Dan Pitcher, Shea Tierney, Rob Calabrese, Drew Petzing, Parks Frazier, David Girardi, Bo Hardegree, Kevin Patullo, Brian Johnson, Andrew Janocko, Chris O'Hara, TJ Yates, Ronald Curry, Cam Turner, Spencer Whipple, Jake Peetz - only a few of those guys have legit reasons to hold up any longer because they're still playing.. some still in the conversation for NFL OC jobs. Could be another reason.
Also wouldn't be surprised to maybe pivot to seasoned NFL vets that aren't coordinating an offense right now similar to Georgia hiring Monken - Greg Roman, Freddie Kitchens, Darrell Bevell, Mike McCoy, Jay Gruden, Greg Olson, etc. - doubt many/if any of them would go for it aside from maybe Freddie Kitchens who is on staff at USCjr
think it was southern miss that we needed a flea flicker to get the offense going to start the 2nd half.... all pretty telling red flags looking back at itI already had been exposed to it being around a few spring practices and some feedback I was getting from a few players that I know.. but I was skeptical. Part of the reason I avoided the boards from February-August was getting bad feedback on Gattis and Mario and what it was gonna look like.
The funny thing about the whole thing is that Josh Pate told me this about Gattis on September 23.. the day before MTSU and then less than 24 hours later literally watched it unfold how it did right after kickoff.. 2 interceptions, a fumble, a turnover on downs in the first 5 or 6 drives.
Texas A&M in hindsight was telling. Southern Miss to an extent.

Some of these combos don't have any QB coach in them but I get what you are saying. Some combos that would “make sense”
Litrell + Wes Welker
Matt Nagy + Chris Jackson
Roman + Tee Martin
Dan Mullen + Billy Gonzalez
Pep Hamilton + Ben McDaniels
Mike Groh + Gunter Brewer
Do you believe the smoke screen was to throw folks off on the coaching search and to potentially get Candle more pay and/or plus get Candle's name out there to generate interest in him as a HC or OC at a major program?IMHO.. smoke screen. No idea which side is putting it out there and why but I don't think it's legit just from my experience seeing this stuff. Last year it was legit and he had valid reason to want to stay at Toledo. The terms couldn't have changed much and wouldn't take this long to decipher and make a decision. The situation is just convenient for both to get something in return.
the only one that doesn’t is Litrell who coached RB/TE. So in that scenario bye Kevin Smith or Fields to off field (or RB coach) and then James Coley can be brought in to coach QBs… simple lolSome of these combos don't have any QB coach in them but I get what you are saying.
I've found that if you pull out your own scale during the deal that they tend to respect your appreciation for the details. Make sure you say "Measure twice, cut once....hopefully not with fentanyl, amirite?!" as you're checking those baggies that seem a little light.I tried to argue this with a coke dealer one time and I thought he was going to kill me.
