Mario really isn’t getting played by Candle right now is he? I refuse to think he is that gullible. Whatever is going on it can’t be Candle holding a OC search of Miami. No way.

Aside from 2020, when Kent State played 4 games and lit up the scoreboard, they haven't done anything. Haven't even scored 31 PPG in any other season.

A further look at those 4 games in 2020 includes: A mediocre 27 points against Eastern Michigan, 62 points against 0-5 Bowling Green, 69 points against 1-5 Akron (only win was against winless Bowling Green), and 41 against Buffalo, who laid 70 on Kent State that day. Meh. Next best year was 30 points per game.

He's far from any sort of guru. There's probably 10-15 OCs, out there running a similar system that I would rather have. The Babers tree is probably the least flashy of anyone that came through under Briles at Baylor - including Kendal Briles, Lebby, Philip Montgomery, etc.

Candle takes a **** on Sean Lewis IMHO.

I mean 2nd, 1st and 1st in the MAC in yards per play the last three years is pretty good. Not many OC's with a three year run like that. You can dig into the numbers of most OC's and find padded stats.

The "If you're going to hire a MAC HC" is really why that comment was made, as he wouldn't be my first choice.
 
The fact that Lake had to go outside of Miami to get info on Mario/UM/Candle and got 'Candle is more interested in ND than UM', while 247 has been pushing the Candle narrative for a while now, shows that he doesn't know what's really going on with OC candidates.

Mario will hire someone who isn't being reported by any of the reporters right now. Just like he did last cycle, just like he did with Guidry.

I made a major hire at my company last year. The 5th guy we interviewed was the one we knew we wanted going in, and he nailed it. We told him he was our guy, and we then proceeded to interview about 20 other guys to build relationships, but more importantly to drain their brains and learn more about our competition.

Not every interview is an interview.

Anyone at this point who is still trying to read the Mario tea leaves or believe anything anyone writes needs a lobotomy. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, fool me 17 times please crack my head open and fill the empty parts of my skull with jello because I deserve it.

You would think but we really don't even know half of what is happening or what has happened behind the scenes. So we are just really reacting to our own conjectures and not necessarily to reality.

This right here! Anyone who thinks that Mario is being held up by Candle needs to stop reading all the click bait site's feeding this crap.
He's shown that he keeps his card's close to the vest because even the "insiders" don't know what's going on.
 
If we're poaching lower level Head Coaches and don't want to commit to some drastic philosophical change - I'm taking Will Hall from Southern Miss. Comes from a family of old-school down south high school football coaches. Actually a similar resume to Guidry being at lower levels his entire career but just a good coach.

He scored 35 a game at Tulane with true freshman Michael Pratt. He's the one that identified him and signed him too. He'll use pace and space but not out of control. Innovative run game. Still only 42.

Guarantee you Georgia moves in that direction if/when Monken goes to the NFL.

Well it was our guy that said negotiations were getting serious. Candle should have been announced last weekend but something happened. At this point, it’s reasonable to think that Mario has moved on down his list.
