From Lake this morning:

Says he spoke to people on the Toledo side of this and their feeling is there is more interest in Notre Dame's position from Candle than Miami's at this point. Lake said it was described to him as "a situation where if Candle decides to leave Toledo it would be for ND, not Miami"

Hopefully Mario has moved on behind the scenes... Guy CLEARLY doesn't want to work at Miami...
Kinda crazy Lake has to go outside Miami for info right now.

I think there's extra frustration around these parts because there are no leaks whatsoever from Miami's side. At least in the past, there were leaks and we all could make our assessments of candidates as rumors swirled (as if it matters). But the apparent lockdown makes it seem as if nothing is happening, when in reality, I'm sure plenty has gone down the last several months. We just don't know a **** thing.

Anyone that pays one iota of attention to that site needs to be institutionalized

Well F him then....Get to steppin.

Because the local media has burned their bridges already. In the AD’s eyes, leaking visits and names when they’re not supposed to is a major red flag.

Add to that the podcast InsidetheU just published where they put out way too much information on Kirkland and a few other kids.

If Mario goes through all this with Candle for the second year in a row and the guy does actually leave Toledo but goes to another school that will be hilarious.

Something seems so weird about this Candle situation.
Nothing weird ... guy has literally lived in Ohio his entire life, grade school, HS, college, and coaching career. ND is basically the same neighborhood, just down the road 155 miles. Miami is another universe culturally.

No disagreement, but I think the speed of the DC hire is also making people ask why it's taking so **** long on OC. Sure, this was probably in the works with both Guidry and Steele for a while, but per our insiders Gattis was basically done in November, so why not the same timeframe with a new OC? It does feel like people don't want to really work with Mario because he wants his hand in things.

Cristobal isn’t that dumb.

He may be a stubborn douche, but Nussmeier would be career suicide.

Nussmeier leaving dynasty Alabama for 7-6 Michigan 🚩 Gattis leaving playoff UM for 7-5 UM 🚩

You don't leave situations like those for dumpster fires for no reason IMO. Give me the hungry guy not the guy running with his tail between his legs.

I also don't believe the narrative that Jason Candle is holding Miami at gunpoint two years in a row.

The one positive about Nussmeier is that his arrival usually expedites one of two outcomes: Either the HC fires him and adopts a completely different offensive philosophy or you get a new HC
I said this about Gattis last off season.

The move for a MAC head coach should have been Sean Lewis, whose offense is actually dominating the MAC lately.
I don't understand the infatuation with Sean Lewis and David Yost on here.

Aside from 2020, when Kent State played 4 games and lit up the scoreboard, they haven't done anything. Haven't even scored 31 PPG in any other season.

A further look at those 4 games in 2020 includes: A mediocre 27 points against Eastern Michigan, 62 points against 0-5 Bowling Green, 69 points against 1-5 Akron (only win was against winless Bowling Green), and 41 against Buffalo, who laid 70 on Kent State that day. Meh. Next best year was 30 points per game.

He's far from any sort of guru. There's probably 10-15 OCs, out there running a similar system that I would rather have. The Babers tree is probably the least flashy of anyone that came through under Briles at Baylor - including Kendal Briles, Lebby, Philip Montgomery, etc.

Candle takes a **** on Sean Lewis IMHO.
