Nope. Candle was never a smoke screen. It was his job last year and then again t this year if he wanted it.

Every name I’ve heard I know has been around campus. There could always be a mystery name / names I don’t know about. I will say the names Lake has been putting out of late are accurate .

Regardless the interviewing stage is close to being finished .
Who do you think is the betting favorite as OC?

Brian Johnson
Jason Candle
James Coley
Shannon Dawson
Brandon Streeter

Interesting. So Streeter is the wet fart? I'm not sure that I agree. DJU was an unmitigated disaster and their offense was still in the top quadrant nationally according to most analytics. Outside of Shipley, they didn't have a ton at the skill positions compared to what they usually have at those spots. His QB recruiting also speaks for itself.

He'll get dinged by most casuals because he was let go, but Dabo swung big and landed Riley, but it's not like what he put out last year was by any means 'firable.'

Also shocked to hear that Arroyo has never been in play.
Streeter is a tough read. My gut tells me that as an OC he's probably not as bad as some believe here but he's also just not a great OC.

2021 with Elliott (.....these stats got him the UVA job)
79th: F+ Offense ranking
88th: Scoring offense

2022 with Streeter
44th: F+ Offense ranking
24th: Scoring offense

Not saying Streeter should be the guy but I just don't think he's horrible. Probably deserves an OC spot at a G5 program to prove himself first.

But as a QB coach though, I think he'd be a **** good hire. So if we go a Seth Litrell type of route where OC isn't QB coach than Streeter is someone that I would be happy with as QB coach.

Trevor Lawrence, Cade Klubnik, DJ Uaig(whatever), Hunter Johnson (former 5 star), and Christopher Vizzina this year. I mean. That's an insane haul.

I was given a pair of names a few weeks ago and one of them was Arroyo as QB/OC in combination with a veteran WR coach.

Thankfully that didn't come true and more than likely I was fed a spoon full of ****.
To be fair Arroyo was an easy name to throw out with the connection. I was told he wasn’t in a big hurry to get back in OC / on field position. That’s why I mentioned maybe him being an analyst.

I don't like us being in the same OC market as Notre Dame when it comes to Candle. We know what that looks like. TEs and RBs and "grown man football" with middling QB play and WRs who never seem to do anything while you play to your defense.

I believe ND down to Sean Lewis & Andy Ludwig

I'm not. Mario might be stubborn but he isn't stupid. Herbert got much better without Arroyo and Mario knows it.

Crazy the amount of talent we had on some of those all golden offenses. Just look at 2013

QB Stephen Morris
RB Duke Johnson
WR Allen Hurns
WR Phillip Dorsett
WR Stacey Coley
TE Clive Warford
LT Ereck Flowers
LG Jon Feliciano
C Brandon Linder
RG Danny Isodora
RT Sentrel Henderson

That entire offense outside of maybe Morris went on to play in the NFL and actually play
