Yep. This is exactly what happened last year. As soon as the Dorsey situation was clear with the Bills, it moved quickly. Someone he likes, whether it is Brian Johnson, Tierney, Patullo, etc. Waiting for dominoes to fall (insert Cuban joke about dominoes)
Just want to point this out. If Mario's hire is caught up in NFL decisions out of his control there really is no telling how long this will go. The Colts told Kafka no. But he's still in it with the Cardinals. The Cardinals want to interview the Cincy DC again. If Kafka got the Cardinals job whenever they decide on that, Kafka would have to interview multiple candidates just by way of the NFL Rooney rule even if he was dead set on bringing Tierney along with him. Same goes for the Giants replacing Kafka. They just couldn't name Tierney the guy and Mario could move on.

This scenario could play out with the Eagles if one of their guys gets thrown into the mix after the Super Bowl as it pertains to Johnson. Whether it be Johnson following Steichen or Gannon or just getting the Eagles OC job. So as quickly as Mario would move after the NFL stuff shakes out, it doesn't mean it would be a quick process getting there.

Some people might want to get their "it is two weeks until Spring practice" posts ready.

Brian Johnson would be great but it doesn’t make sense. NFL guys with upward trajectory like Brian Johnson’s will most likely want to stay in the NFL. Sure if it’s a guy that needs a reboot, then it makes. Now if Johnson gets passed over for an OC job in the NFL that he wanted, sure then maybe he makes the jump back down to CFB but waiting on that seems risky as it is unlikely.

Preface this by saying I hope it's Johnson, but I imagine Johnson will continue his his upward trajectory in the NFL.

Posted last night. Joe's stone crabs GM (dude in pic) is named Brian Johnson. Post mentions "points"...

Guidry announced as DC 2/7

My only concern. If you google search Deals-a-plenty the store location is in Kenosha, Wisconsin so I hope that has nothing to do with Paul Chryst or some other Wisconsin guy.

Does anybody have our PPG and YPG with the Bethune game factored out? I'm very interested in those stats lol.
I'll save you time

Man it sure would be great to have a recent example of someone that fits that description:

Liam Coen

Brian Johnson isn’t winning the Super Bowl with the eagles and then going to Miami be our OC. No way
You might have me beat here.. because surely the Chiefs will be winning the Super Bowl.

"Newly disgraced, loser, Eagles QB coach looks for redemption in the murks of the Hecht Athletic Center??"

There's a good story there somewhere.

Exactly, I don't get why people still push this narrative. It is nonsensical.

He would probably stay in the NFL as a QB coach rather than come back to college.
seems like guys who get that track in the NFL strive to be NFL OC's and then HC's. have there been any black OC's of note? could be historical.

With this "waiting for the NFL" I think we are trying to give an unlikely explanation for Mario's thorough hiring process.

Occam's razor: Mario is just slow with interviews/hirings. There is no NFL guy we are waiting for IMHO.
You're sick! He hired a DC in 3 days after the Steele news.. there is a reason at play here.
