The myth of Mario the recruiter

This. Especially player development.
Not sure Dawson or Guidry are teachers at all. Dawson seems to be a x and o guy, but he doesnt have feel. Not sure what Guidry does tbh.

We should be honest: he has built the best o-line I've seen at Miami in three years since the glory days. We are loaded at QB, RB, WR, TE, etc. Our kicking and punting games are excellent. Our DL has plenty of talent. But IDK WTF he is doing in the back seven. We have no talent back there minus some of the young guys.

He lands splash players that bump up recruiting rankings, but his classes are very rarely balanced. Always heavy at a position or two then underwhelming at others.

If he was truly an “elite” recruiter, then players like 1, 2, 7, 19, 25, 70 (offense) aren’t starting or playing meaningful minutes in year three.
Don't question his recruiting acumen or zealot morons will crucify you.

A recruiter in the NIL era. Our recruiting this year is very indicative of such. Any "flip" we get can most likely be attributed to NIL rather than recruiting prowess. Even then, at this point, I find it hard this coach could out athlete teams. We lost to GT with no qb, and Cuse who has a ****** D and little run game. No one here is going to accuse any of those teams of having better athletes than Miami.

Leaves only one box to be checked off....

No you sound dumb for making that statement. Doesn’t make you a bad recruiter because a unit struggles. Get out your feelings
I think we are getting into some semantics between "recruiting" and roster management -- everyone and their mother knew the defense was going to be a problem and Mario did not do enough to fix it. In response, resident SFL Coaches and MariBros said: Defensive Backs don't win or lose you games, and people loved it because they believed their complete nonsensical bull****.

The program is second tier. If he was at those programs he would be doing what there coaches are doing. Bama has the #2 class. Deboer isn’t a elite recruiter
By all accounts, the money is NOT second tier. So, yes, the coaching, is, at best, second tier. At best. At HC we are at a disadvantage nearly every game the team takes the field.

It’s fair to question his evals

I completely agree. This is the result of poor high school recruiting and glaring portal misses, and it’s finally blowing up in our faces. Enough is enough.

The lack of talent and defensive development is beyond concerning. Mario needs to adapt quickly. He has to overpay for blue-chip players and true difference-makers in the portal if that’s what it takes. On top of that, Dennis Smith has to go, he ******* sucks and his performance isn’t cutting it.

He will go down as Mario’s D’Onofrio. Yes, I said it.

This team is barely a .500 program without Cam. If significant changes aren’t made, 2025 could get ugly—very ugly. Especially if we don’t invest heavily in the portal. The time to act is now.

Where are all of these “elite” players?
Exactly…if we have all. these elite players he’s supposedly brought in then why are we getting pushed around on defense by teams that constantly wind up with 20-25 type classes every year….in three years I can count on one hand all the elite players he’s brought in on defense and have enough fingers left over to play a piano.

I think we made just an many mistakes on the D Line
