Mario is always good for 1-2 losses per year to teams he should never lose to. He has done it every year since being HC at Oregon. It's one of many reasons why we will never win anything of signifigance with him as HC.

To be fair, usually that’s because he plays “Mario ball” and burns too many possessions. Thereby making the game closer than it should be.

That’s not what is happening here. Just poor players playing poorly. And good players doing dumb stuff.
