The Battle for Broward

Speaking of Hollywood Hills in the early 2000s, I KNOW you know this name. Tavares Spillman. Played football and basketball at Hills. Was from Dania. Called him "Man-Man." One of the best athletes I've ever seen down here. Including the guys who made it to the pros. Got sidetracked by grades and a rough life. Literally just saw him riding by on a bicycle in Dania an hour ago. Your post immediately made me think of that. lol
Tavares Spillman was a freak of nature! Sorry things didn't work out well for him.

Man-Man was pretty much Unstoppable. That dude used to beat a hole defensive press by himself LOL.

Let's also not forget about "Darnell Brown" who was pretty much the best all around player on that Hollywood Hills basketball roster in 1997. There was also a guy by the name of JT Jeterik Bratkins who had jumping ability like no other...
Hollywood Hills had a championship basketball roster in 97-98, they had all the pieces if they could just put it together!
PG: Tavares Spillman
SG: Darnell Brown
SF: Jeterk Bratkins
PF: Ivan Billie
C: Michael Cunningham

Let's also not forget some Point guards with crazy handles on the roster
Carlos Kerrel.
Charles Bivins.

i seen Man Man catch a zion williamson like Alley and brought the gym down at Hollywood Hills
You sure that wasn't (JT) Jeterk bratkins?? He's the one that used to jump out the gym and dunk on any and everybody! His height was I believe 5'10"

Naw it was Spillman.

Tavares coaches at Danie Bears i think currently i have him on social media. He's a Hollywood Legend. Its crazy in my years of high school there were maybe 4 or 5 NFL DBs in the city of Hollywood alone and he was 1 of em.

Gotta give credit to Dmoney. The man is persistent.

We don’t land top kids like Bosa, Burns, or Bush from Broward and we never will. I will agree is there is some great talent in Broward, but Bosa never even visited. Burns was ignored and light in the pants. Bush dad got a job at MICH...

There are probably 3-4 elite kids in Dade, Broward, and PBC yearly. But outside of that the talent is overrated as ****.

I’ll reiterate Dmoney since you can’t see the picture.

Our best QB AND RB is from GA
WR: MICH, ILL
TE: Nevada, FLA (Jax)
OL: SC
DL: VA, FLA (PBC)
LB: FLA (jax)
DB: FLA (Dade), NV

If there was all this talent you constantly bring up. Our roster wouldn’t look the way it does.

Agreed the focus in So Fla kids is old. Maybe that mentality and focus has buried us over the past decade and a half.

Most of your list is subjective.

It's not a forgone conclusion that our best QB is from GA, there's a possibility the best QB is from Fla.

Deejay is the best RB for now, but Cam had the best game of the RB's on the season with 136yds vs GTech.

WR & TE no argument.

Our best OL is NOT from South Carolina, that would imply Zion Nelson, the same Zion who has given up more sacks than any other OT in college football. GTFOH with that please lol. The entire OL is garbage, but if you have to pick who's the best amongst that garbage it's between Scaife or Gaynor which is Dade/Broward.

Our best DLinemen are Gregory Rousseau, Jon Ford, Trevon Hill, Jon Garvin & Nesta Silvera.

Our best LB is currently Pinckney, but will be Sam Brooks next year (that doesn't count for right now obviously).

The best DB's are Al Blades, Gurvan Hall & Trajan Bandy. Bubba Bolden hasn't even been playing enough to be given that title as of now.

I get it, its always popular to hate South Fla & scream to the high heavens about how the talent is overrated & it's because of South Fla players as the sole reason why we suck, but unfortunately that simply doesn't line up with reality.

This is real simple... If the players in South Fla sucked so bad, then why do Bama, UGA, LSU, Oh St, Clemson, Oklahoma, TAMU, Michigan, Oregon & just about every major program in D1 Football recruit them??? Why do NFL franchises draft so many of those same overrated players from that region??? They're overrated divas who suck & can't play, but every great team on every level of Football for whatever reason keeps going after them 🤔... Make it make sense for me?

I blame the coaches first but we’re losing with that non-South Florida roster anyhow.

In the Battle for Broward, the Canes folded faster than a ***** laundromat
“*****”??? That’s like the N word... which I don’t doubt you probably use on the regular with a strong “er” pronunciation.

“Chinese” and “Asian” are also available word choices. Don’t be the “er” guy.

Exactly. Add in Jeudy and Surtain from Bama, Arnette from OSU, Huntley and Moss from Utah and see where they land on the depth chart.
It’s kind of like the old days again, in a weird way. We need to get the kids who want to be here from our area and coach them up. That’s why I am not even focused on the recruiting aspect as much as the solid coaching aspect. We need to be respectable on the field as a first step.

****, Jordan Battle was getting minutes last week for Bama and he JUST got there. Same with Neal. Xavier Williams even got minutes. "Overrated SoFla" kids seem to go elsewhere and be properly (or sometimes under) rated. Interesting.

Mercenaries? Yes.
Clout chasers? Sure.
Divas? Maybe... sometimes.
But overrated? At football?? GTFO with that nonsense.

South Florida is a hotbed of talent, at every level. And just about everyone professionally involved in the sport at any level acknowledges this fact.
