We signed two 5-star tackles which is scaring away other elite tackles, specifically Baker. Very few interior OL are highly rated. There are zero 5-star IOL this year.

As someone said above, similar to QB, once you get past the very elite guys OL is the most difficult position to evaluate. You can be assured the websites aren't getting it right. Trust the coaches here.

they are NOT on the same property. the are adjacent ("next to" for the dummies) to each other.

yes, they are good at football, as evidenced by making the playoffs (jim mora voice) this year. they also have an infinite number of one starts, a few rising two stars and one three star.

We brought in Cooper and McCoy in Cristobal patched up class. They were both rated 3 star. Cooper became a starter as true FR, McCoy was on track to do similar. Then we brought in 5 more this past class and one of those guys is already in the lineup and more to enroll. You would be mad if we were recruiting Cooper right now. He was a 84 rated 3 star, who by midseason was not only starting as a true FR, he was one of the best OL we had. At some point 247 gratification cannot be the only way u man judge recruits. Have you watched one of the guys film D$ mentioned?

UGA:
2020- signs the #2, #3, #13 OTs, signs #1 C in the nation
2021- signs the #3, #9 OTs, & the #6 IOL in the nation
2022- signs the #2 IOL in the nation
2023- signs the #5, #11 OT, & the #10 IOL in the nation

Yet, somehow we sign two guys & we’re scaring away all other high end OLmen???

First of all we have some highly rated OL interested and already set up to visit, including the #2 IOL in the country and the #174 overall player in the country, an OT. So let's not all go overboard here. In a down year for OT's, this is basically a Brandon Baker conversation, a kid from California.

Looking at your post above, after their mega 2020 class, UGA only signed one top 5 OT in the next two cycles combined. And then one the year after. Of course they are going to get good players, but when you look at how they recruit overall year in and year out, I don't necessarily think this supports the theory that top teams don't lose kids due to a lack of available playing time.

As for IOL, they only signed four top 10 kids at their position over those four years COMBINED.

??? Not sure what your point is ... my comment was a reaction to the 2024 class OL potentially not wanting to come because of the 2 five star OL in THIS class. My point was ... having a quality starter isn't enough ... quality 2 deep is needed ... like Georgia has. So the fact that we have a couple of elite OL in the 2023 class is no reason for elite OL not to commit in 2024.

What’s our pitch?? Last time I checked, the OL consisted of 5 OLman, not just two. So there’s still plenty of playing time to be had across the OL.

-How about u sell Mario being a premiere developer at their position, & you milk the chit out Penei Sewell

-How about you sell the NIL opportunities

-How about u sell the vision of the program, & continue to highlight all of the future endeavors that will make being a student athlete here memorable, since they will be known as the foundation of bringing back an elite program.

We are getting elite OL, you simply think they are not elite because of their rating. D$ didnt say elite OL are spooked, he said "big names" are spooked. Big names like Kirkland, who apparently could barely walk on his visit. I watched his film, watched Kinsler and instantly knew who was better. But one looks great for the rankings one doesnt.

That’s b/c the 2022 cycle, they went heavy on defense. They still signed two 4* OT, but the priority was Defense that cycle.

That’s what happens when u stack talent; u can shift focus & gears when ur ****nal is loaded, & u replenish. We are not stacked w/ talent along the OL, so there’s no excuses for two Freshmen to scare off other top end OL talent when there’s plenty of availability still left. That’s the point.

I'll guess until we get Bama/Jawga-esque machines rolling, we might struggle to get y-t-y 5* at same position and perhaps go with an every other year type cycle.

And how does that compare to UGA's pitch, to use your example? They are putting multiple first round tackles in the pros (Broderick Jones this year) and winning big. A huge part of our pitch is playing time to make up for the lack of winning.

Does anybody think Mario and Mirabal forgot how to sell OL? They just landed two five stars. But we aren't UGA and Alabama and should not be compared to them right now for a million obvious reasons.

As for NIL, we set records with how much we paid for Francis and Samson. That's what happens when you need to overpay based on your status in CFB. I'm talking about that level of tackle. It's going to be hard for a repeat.

With respect to interior OL, we are leading for the top guard and center on our board (Ahfua and Ionata) and will also look at high-upside evals like Mario and Mirabal always do. That's what they did in Oregon to supplement the big fish like Sewell.

It's wild to me that people here are so absolute and data driven with our program but make excuses for others. UGA's priority was defense? Did the OC and OL coaches stop recruiting OL and start recruiting DL or something?

In fact, in 2022 UGA signed a full 5-man OL class. What they did on defense has absolutely nothing to due with who they got on the OL. It was NOT a light OL class. They just couldn't attract the top guys. Maybe because, oh, I dunno, the roster was stacked and there wasn't a way to see the field soon?

The national rankings for their 5 OL in 2022 were: 45 (IOL), 353, 426, 664, and 784.

And, oh, isn't Miami "prioritizing" DL this cycle? :)
