The Bank (12/19)

I think that is fair also. Next year is important for building momentum and sustainability and for that reason, leaving it in the hands of someone unproven is risky.

But I also don't get the sense that the staff is just trying to cover their *** by saying they believe in Emory.

I am fine letting Mendoza go elsewhere if we think someone like Ewers will be interested in a week or two.
we would pursue ewers but his asking price is crazy. if he comes down, I think it's legit a chance.

This is false and I ain’t even the biggest Mendoza guy. He was good vs auburn and pitt. But you ok with 8/24 Emory? lol ok good luck with that
Mendoza only threw 16 TD passes, with 6 INT’s. To put this in perspective, Cam Ward threw for more than twice the TD’s, the same number of INT’s, and over 1,100 more yards. Cam’s QB rating was also more than 31 points higher.

Instead of paying a mediocre QB big money to give you mediocre play, use the money to get top CB’s, DT’s and WR’s in the portal, and let Emory battle Luke. Nickel is a future star in the making (in my opinion), and will beat Emory out for the job. With this next year’s schedule, we’re not gonna win more than 8 games, even with Mendoza. Let Luke start and gain the experience that he’ll need to lead us into the future.

Assuming the price is in the $4 million range (because that is what I have seen reported) and even if it was a bit more, I don't see any problem with paying that.

I would be willing to bet Mateer got at least that much from Oklahoma.

I think we were willing to pay more for Mateer, remember he has multiple years left too.

watch our defense become top 10 and our offense look like Enos and Gattis had a suck off (Calm down @JG14). Wouldnt that be a real hoot.
It's a Canes rule...never allowed to be good at multiple things at once. 2017 and 2018 we had awesome defenses....could not score points. 2020 and 2021 we could score points, couldn't stop anyone. Just the fate we are doomed to repeat.

Yeah couple things at play here

1. We wanted Mateer and missed so we weren’t satisfied with just Emory

2. If Mendozas price tag is 7 figures (the rumor) then is he a 7 figure upgrade over Emory?

3. We haven’t seen Emory really since he broke his arm against FSU. I can’t really comment on his progress
1. Agree
2. Only coaches can answer that
3. Agree

If you don’t see Ken Dorsey reincarnate I don’t know what to tell you
2 throws behind the LOS. One 2 yard crosser. One 3 yard out. And a decent 12 yard out. Not a lot of zip on any. No bigtime throws. Yeah... think i'm going to need more.

Dorsey played over 20 years ago on the most stacked roster we might ever see. The game has changed, as have the roster depth with portal/NIL.

If you’re asking that a few days after the bowl game you’ll have your answer.
Gattis didn’t get fired until Jan 27th, publicly anyway. Mario moves slower than 74 year old driving on I-95 with his coaching changes.

The real response should be “if you’re asking this February 1st, you’ll have your answer”
