The Bank (12/19)

I think one thing the current NIL era has shown is that the traditional “great recruiter” aspect is less relevant than ever. Money equalizes that. I also think Mario’s evals have been fine at RB, TE and OL but not special elsewhere. CB evals have been dreadful. They look for tall physical dudes and ignore cover skills and speed.

That’s why I’m saying that the way forward after this will be an evaluator/developer/solid game coach. The kind of hire that can turn a yearly top 15 class into a playoff spot and ACCCG appearances.
And as we've known, D wins titles. We need to vastly improve coaching and roster there.

@DMoney are we on anyone as a nickle CB? Looks like are top portal corner prospects are all more outside type guys. Poyser played the majority of his snaps over the slot…Do they view him as a big nickel type or pure safety? Any other nickels we are looking at?

The more I watch Ewers, the more I appreciate his game; a very talented passer who could do well in Dawson's offense.

Dude is nice. I was hoping we would make a run at him when I saw Arch was taking over.

I am sure the only reason we haven’t signed Mendoza already is that we want to make a play to get him.

Absolutely no doubt we will make a play for Ewers. People on this board know I like Emory. However, Ewers is hands down more talented than anyone in the room and more talented than Mateer. There is a bit of "F*** you" to Ewers. He hasn't felt anything good for Texas in a while.

He is in my opinion already checked out. You can see it on the sidelines. He's a competitor though and pushes through the Arch Manning BS from the fans. Has he been hurt? Yes. If healthy, is he better than anyone else NOT named Cam Ward? Yes.

This is the guy the Canes will make a run at. It's all set up. Ewers knows he can have a similar impact that Cam did and improve his stock. This guy was made for Miami.

Manny left behind the preseason number 14 team in the country. That roster that went 5-7 with a loss to mdtsu had current nfl guys ( Williams LT Ivey Stevenson), some of our best players (restrepo arroyo rivers George borregales) some of the best guys on acc champ smu (breshard smith Clark Campbell (Tennessee) JHH Roberts Harvey Keyshawn smith). That team didn’t need to go 5-7. If you want to say Mario needed to strip it down or whatever culture wise and that’s why we went 5-7 then sure but it wasn’t because that roster was incapable of making a bowl game
Yeah I agree, that team didn’t have to go 5-7. Maybe 7-5 at worst. The roster was definitely capable of making a bowl game

I don’t like Ewers too much, his pocket presence is terrible, and he’s not the leader we need at QB

7 wins was the top potential for that squad. People already forgetting how bad the OL was at that point and Restrepo + Arroyo had season ending injuries in MC year 1. The bad Gattis & Steele hires no doubt fall on MC but lots of the players visibly quit on the field, guys like Keyshawn Smith & Romello Brinson were whining on the field and their mama's crying on social media.
