The Bank (11/13)

I appreciate the optimism, but there’s a lot of things here that aren’t givens.

1. We have no idea if Guidry will be retained. LSU will assuredly come calling, so will programs like USC. We’re going to have to pony up cash, and we better.

2. Louisville is winning with an absolute trash QB, but Brohm has a very good defense (usually doesn’t). They’re absolutely a team to watch in ‘24 and will bring in a very good QB with an enticing offensive system / HC with a proven track record on that side of the ball. That’s something we can’t offer as of right now, it’s arguably our toughest game in ‘24 (also on the road).

3. It’s now or never regarding Dabo and the portal usage (or lack thereof). Curious to see what they do in the off-season.

4. FSU will spend a boatload in the portal, they will also be a fascinating case study. They need one dynamite portal class to bridge the gap so that their elite HS class gets acclimated to college ball in ‘24. They’re not in as bad of a position as people make them out to be. It’s a better class than our ‘23 one on paper…

5. If Ghandi is correct, we won’t have continuity at the OC position in ‘24. We cannot string this out like last season and miss out on portal guys because of it. That would be an unmitigated disaster of an approach.

Mario needs to be back-channeling portal guys asap. He also needs to have a plan at OC and DC should Dawson and/or Guidry leave. We cannot string out replacement hires into March. 2024 is too critical to do so.
Yeah, it’s going to be hilarious (no not really. Figure of speech as it going to ******* suck) if Mario fires Dawson, him taking 2 months to figure out his next OC while have no QBs in the room and trying to recruit portal QBs with no OC.

Brohm has an unproven track record?

He went 30-10 at WKU with three winning seasons and three bowl wins. He was just the second coach in Purdue’s history to reach the postseason four times during his first six years. Brohm’s predecesor went 9-39 in four seasons. Yes, you read that right - He didn’t win 10 games in four seasons. Before that, Danny Hope had one winning season (7-6) in four seasons.

No hypotheticals there, that’s all fact. What he did there was remarkable, lol. That program STUNK.

As for Clemson, I don’t think what you said was English.

You know what’s not a hypothetical? Mario Cristobal is 11-11 at Miami and 5-9 in conference play.

Does Mario have an unproven track record?
35–13 at Oregon
2-2 in Bowls including two New Years bowls

You are simply saying Brohm is proven because Purdue sucked?

Clemson- they haven't used the Portal. Their QB has not been good in 2023. Their WR room lacks playmakers. You expect this slow-moving ship to turn around things quickly.

Smith isn’t the only flip the Seminoles are working on. If FSU is pushing, a source said to keep an eye out for Joshisa Trader and Florida State

FSU writers really talk out both sides of their mouth. Before it was Trader isn’t that good, Smith makes him, we got committed guys better, etc etc. Now less 6 weeks later we are gonna push for Trader? Naw man you lost on Trader and never stopped pursuing. Come signing day when he signs with Miami it will be Mario begged and begged him to sign with Miami. Rinse and repeat.

In a couple of weeks it’s going to be the same thing with Jones and Patterson.

Coldcane - absolutely! I would be backchanneling Lagway and Air Norland. Sell coming in and starting right away (although I suppose Florduh could make the same argument).

Lagway I’m sure got a massive NIL deal because he hasn’t even looked elsewhere. I assume the Nico Iamaleava level deal. Either way, we ****ed up AGAIN not recruiting an actual QB.

He’s terrible. Can’t believe the difference in how he was discussed in the off-season vs how he has looked. His brother is a stud, though.

Are they thinking that Pickett can't gain weight similar to Moss, so might as well start him at LB first. That eliminates the pressure of gaining the size to get on the field.
