All low football IQ guys or knuckleheads. AG would have dumped most of those guys. We bash RS, but his record improved EVERY year except his last and he was fired for it. He started with possibly less talent than AG had on the roster if you saw the last game at the OB. And btw his record improved while he was playing a bunch of freshmen. I don't think he was Miami coach, especially for his first gig, but if AG stalls in the next 2 years I'll look at him the same. I like coaches, but I love Miami football.

Awesome. 5 wins to 7 to 9 to 7. Middle of the road is great! The problem I have with Shannon is that he was effing here with Coker when we were declining. He gets no pass. He was part of the crumbling infrastructure. He left Golden a mess. Golden had no time to recruit and our snake playing head honcho had no recruiting visits lined up. Shannon defenders can jump off of a bridge for all I care.
OK.Based on your premise I would have left the team when Butch had them in late 90's.Regardless of sanctions, we were "middle of the road". Read last 2 lines, not an RS guy.Guys like yourself dwell on coaches, fans like myself root for the team regardless of coach. USC is #1 and their coach ran the program in the ground.Nobody cares about Pete C because he's gone. You're blaming him for basically having a top 10 defense while he was an assistant. The bottom line is both Coker and Shannon blew it at the QB position. At any level of football you have to have a QB. Butch wouldn't have won with Kenny Kelly, he went to UNC and had defensive talent galore and couldn't win because he had no QB. RS stuck with a turnover-prone QB and didn't even recruit anyone who could beat him out, that's insane.I'll take a rain check on the bridge leap, at least until I know we're bowl eligible.

Pete Carroll ran USC into the ground? what?

Shannon was only unsuccessful because he couldn't get a QB?

I think he's saying Pete Carroll was a major reason why USC got hit hard with sanctions. I don't think that's really "ran into the ground" though. RS and his staff recruited JH, that their fault. Recruit an Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin, or maybe even a Geno Smith, etc.... You don't have to stick with Jacory. Better yet, if you Recruit multiple QBs who can compete for the spot, if one starts throwing picks, you have another suitable replacement right behind him.

At some point people need to stop blaming RS for Miami football problems. He's gone, and will probably never come back. Move on from the past, and get over it. This is Al Goldens second year, whatever happens good or bad falls on his shoulders, no one elses.

The 2007 team that Randy took over had like 15 players, playing in the NFL!!!

That team was straight garbage... Name the 15... Most of them made after being developed by Shannon... There werent 15 upperclassmen who made it to the league... Don't try to play that game... Kirby 1-14 Freeman... Jacory is Peyton Manning compared to him and Wright... Our entire O was young and bad... Last years offense was freaking amazing...

RS was easily the worst coach Miami had since the 70s. Dude just did not know how to run a program. ****ed things up at every turn.

My post is garbage when someone is implying that the 07 squad was talented... If thats the case how many guys from last years squad made it to NFL camps and rosters??? Don't let personal agendas cloud logic... That 07 squad sucked...

Jacory was fine with good coaching. I think he would have been a good college QB if he had solid coaching his 4 years here. What would have any of those QBs looked like under Patrick Nix (lol hire) and Mark Whipple?

People will stop talking about Shannon when his mark is finally off the program. Unfortunately this team is still paying for a lot of his mistake.

Shannon could have recruited last years Alabama team, and it would not have been in the top 20. I'm absolutely confident of that.

It's remarkable how UM could have hired two of the worst coaches in the history of CFB back-to-back. Both those guys left this place in shambles in every way. I've always felt that the AD never got enough blame for both those hires.

Your post is clouded by your love for Shannon. You constantly defend him at every turn while you bash Golden. Post after post, you step in to defend any kid associated with Shammin while you attack all the kids Golden recruited.

Grow up... You never seen a post where I bashed Golden... Your hate for one individual even causes you to make up lies about posters as myself... Yea, I'll take up for a player if he was productive and contributed something... I mean why not take up for Cmac, DVD, Berry and Miller... They were productive players... Grow up man... You can't even criticize as an adult... Who is "Shammin"? How can I attack Golden players when most of them havent seen the field?

Can we get a "Where are they now?" on the OP

Some of them are more than likely bagging groceries some where and not even playing ball

Ok. Who decides when Shannons mark is finally off the program? If Miami goes 4-8 this season, is that Shammins fault or Goldens fault? When you say this team is still paying for Shammins mistakes what do you exactly mean? Most of the players on the team where recruited by Golden. Guys he didn't want on the team are gone. Shannon has been gone going on almost two years, maybe more. This is Goldens team now, not Shannons. It seems as is is people want to use Shannon as a crutch. That was fine last year, however once again at what point does Golden assume all of the responsibility?

lol. Shannon slurpers were still blaming Coker FOUR YEARS after Coker got fired. Why arent you boys giving Golden the same amount of time??

Good for them. However, Al Golden is suppose to be an upgrade right.

And I won't even bother talking about the 2011 class where he had ONE commit by December.

This is why this program is going to take another year or two to be competitive again.
you left out gavin hardin from 08

as awful as some of those numbers are its really only part of the problem. the rest of the problem is that we had a bunch of other kids we got little to no production out of and a bunch of others who never improved beyond what they did early on in their careers

some examples of who im talking about are
aldarius
ben jones
davon johnson
thompkins
chase ford

we also have guys like cory white and david perry who were moved to TE because we needed the depth, and its guys like that who likely wont be on the team next year. recruiting, roster management and developing talent were all glaring issues for randy and his staff

That 07 squad was not a 5 win team.
That 07 squad was not a lose to UVA 48-0 team.

Going by how Shannon was eventually exposed as being one the worse CFB coaches ever I'll side with Shannon being the reason why they went 5-7. Put a competent coach on the team and at worse it's a 7 win squad.

That was fine last year, however once again at what point does Golden assume all of the responsibility?

when he doesn't have to burn redshirts for depth purposes and field a relatively young team because the clown of a coach he succeeded couldn't recruit and retain players. Got it?
