And I won't even bother talking about the 2011 class where he had ONE commit by December.

This is why this program is going to take another year or two to be competitive again.

Shannon did to Miami what the NCAA did to USCw.... we put ourselves on severe scholarship reductions. No program can be competitive when you have this much turnover in every class that you bring in.

That fact, plus the constant staff turnover are the two reasons that Miami has sucked in the ACC.

33% attrition rate? ****. Seems about the same rate as his coaching staff. Guy must be impossible to work / play for when he's in charge.

All low football IQ guys or knuckleheads. AG would have dumped most of those guys. We bash RS, but his record improved EVERY year except his last and he was fired for it. He started with possibly less talent than AG had on the roster if you saw the last game at the OB. And btw his record improved while he was playing a bunch of freshmen. I don't think he was Miami coach, especially for his first gig, but if AG stalls in the next 2 years I'll look at him the same. I like coaches, but I love Miami football.

Awesome. 5 wins to 7 to 9 to 7. Middle of the road is great! The problem I have with Shannon is that he was effing here with Coker when we were declining. He gets no pass. He was part of the crumbling infrastructure. He left Golden a mess. Golden had no time to recruit and our snake playing head honcho had no recruiting visits lined up. Shannon defenders can jump off of a bridge for all I care.

Corch was the poster boy for mediocrity.

2010 was a great class for OL with Linder, Feliciano, Bunche, McDermott and Seantral that very well is the entire starting line. Add in starting QB, WR, and TE and it is a pretty darn good class offensively. Maybe one or two contrirbutors on defense with Rodgers, Cain and Gaines.

As D$ said, catastrophic defensive class. We wonder why we are struggling to find bodies a few years later.

Shannon was just not ready to be a head coach and maybe he's one of those guys who'll never be head coach material. Not only did we not produce on the field, but the recruiting and staff turnover really made it difficult to become a successful program again.

Most annoying thing to me was the moments when we'd win a pretty big game and everyone thought we were turning the corner only to come out the very next game flat as ****. It was the most depressing thing.

Can you imagine that class would be even worse if we didn't close with Cain, Gaines, and Cleveland all who we really need to contribute here. These three will have some say if this is a 4 or 8 win team. We need Gaines and Cain to be solid, and Asante to be better than that.

Funny how Cain and Gaines were considered afterthoughts before they even got here and now a few years later.....

Not saying either are playing like AA's, just saying.

It's actually pretty simple with Shannon. How anyone could listen to him speak for more than 5 minutes and think he was fit to lead any institution is beyond me. I was excited when we hired him because of his defenses. Then he had a press conference and I was like, uh oh.

No freaking wonder why our depth is so dire on defense. I haven't seen it laid out like that before - yikes!

However...I choose to think in a glass-half-full way, and I see the opportunity for more Golden players on the roster.

Let's go Canes!

You are correct ringz. I disagree with what you said however, I should not have bashed you in particular.

those classes were very Errickson-like in many ways

A few real players surrounded by a lot of washouts

We all moaned and groaned about these 3. We said randy was settling. Now these 3 are going to be major contributors while the stars are off the team

Randy should have "settled" more often. He made very good bad choices and very bad good choices.

OK.Based on your premise I would have left the team when Butch had them in late 90's.Regardless of sanctions, we were "middle of the road". Read last 2 lines, not an RS guy.Guys like yourself dwell on coaches, fans like myself root for the team regardless of coach. USC is #1 and their coach ran the program in the ground.Nobody cares about Pete C because he's gone. You're blaming him for basically having a top 10 defense while he was an assistant. The bottom line is both Coker and Shannon blew it at the QB position. At any level of football you have to have a QB. Butch wouldn't have won with Kenny Kelly, he went to UNC and had defensive talent galore and couldn't win because he had no QB. RS stuck with a turnover-prone QB and didn't even recruit anyone who could beat him out, that's insane.I'll take a rain check on the bridge leap, at least until I know we're bowl eligible.
