Taylor Edwards hired

I don't know if we do or don't.

But if we do, then we need to start hauling it out more frequently and pointing to it the next time Dennis Smith tries to overrule anyone above him on the org chart.

You would THINK that a guy who reported directly to Dan Radakovich (Highsmith) would be above Dennis Smith, but maybe there's some crazy org chart I haven't seen.
More or less a sign that we absolutely do not have that.

But hey, people tell me HR Management is unimportant...

This department at the University needs to grow even more than one dude with a nice (not elite) resume. Nice start, but further investment is needed.

What’s the back story on Dennis and where did he come from?

He came to town like a midwinter storm
He rode through the fields, so handsome and strong
His eyes was his tools and his smile was his gun
But all he had come for was having some fun

I don't care where he came from and I don't care where he goes. Just keep him away from recruits, parents, and coaches.

Bill Belichick does not hire someone from the outside for a higher position unless he receives a recommendation from someone he highly trusts.

Most of the guys that stem from the Belichick tree started off as being assistant to the assistants assistant name, to the point where they do work on Sabans house.

I can only assume we got him because we paid some bucks and gave him tons of control that he wouldn't get at UNC. Because Bill is known for A) having the final say on everything, including how players are evaluated in the first place and B) he's not too big spending the big money for personnel.

Or, (A) Mario previously worked with Taylor Edwards at Alabama, and (B) Taylor preferred working for Mario over Belichick.

Perhaps Taylor got more money too. Plus, Florida has no personal income tax.

Most definitely believe its B. If people believe Mario is a hardass to work for, Belichick is 10x worse.

Sorry, I meant A and B together. They do have a prior relationship, which is a nice position to start a new job from.

But your take on B is absolutely true.

Ah man, super disappointing to hear about this sorta thing. Glad we upgraded, and though things can never be perfect, of all departments, I thought recruiting would be the cornerstone of this admin..

I’m biased because I know Dennis, but he will have a big role going forward and some of the discourse on him has gone too far. He’ll be the first to admit faults, but he’s also done some major things. For example, without him, there is no Cam Ward in Miami.

Edwards is a major step in the right direction. We need more strong voices and more people to do the various, rapidly changing tasks the personnel department requires.
Thanks for a response that literally says nothing, Dmoney. Very little do with my original post.

I was being serious. What is his job going forward.

More than half of us didn't realize he was more than a social media manager before this week.

Dennis is an incredible human being with a fantastic comeback story.

People don’t understand how well respected he is and what he means internally.

No sob story because I’m biased as well. The room is trending 📈📈

He will stay in recruiting. I'll have more clarity for you soon.

No pressure, @DMoney , and in an abundance of respect to you and your relationship, could you let us know if there will be a rebalancing of the direct-contact role? In my personal opinion as a 3x UM alum, the two apologies that had to be issued to the Toneys and UM alum Austin Pfenninger are two apologies too many, and while I'd like to see this reduced to zero, I'd even more strongly prefer to have no possible opportunities for mistakes going forward.
