2025 Tarvos “TJ” Alford II LB from Ft. Pierce sticks w/OSU

ATD. I see it as a contributing factor (up-tempo offense certainly didn't help as well). We are slow & stiff on the back-end. Depth is embarrassing. How Mario didn't address the personnel issues there this off-season might be his most egregious crime yet.. and that includes GT!

Guidry was trash. Fire him. I just don't think it solves anything. Problem goes deeper than that.
As long as we portal in some solid secondary players im not as down and doom and gloom on the defensive personnel for next year like some of yall are (minus DB of course). The next DC will have enough talent to work with, the young LBs showed alot of promise and the portal can be our best friend. In my opinion if Manny Diaz was our DC this year with these same exact players on D we're most likely undefeated or have 1 loss RN that's the sad part. Guidry knew we had slow n stiff players but constantly put them islands with little to no help over top, the amount of time I saw Fransisco getting cooked guarding a slot or RB on wheel route was mind boggling n good ol guidry never adjusted, we'd be playing saturday if he was worth anything.

I think you’d have to agree though that if in 2022 you knew that going into year 4 UM was going to require a roster overhaul via the portal, we might have gone a different way with the HC hire. There was a coach whose name rhymes with Smiffen who was available and stacks his rosters via the portal.
Hey man I’m a fan of him but what would the optics be if he had the roster he has currently there which is better than ours (minus qb) with the same losses he put up this season.

It will be difficult for us to out-talent the top teams so we are gonna need to get coaches that can elevate the talent we have

We’ve routinely been on the other side of the fence when it comes to that so we know what it looks like

End of the day we are still sitting here *****ing about not being considered the 12th best team in the country
We can’t even beat the Georgia Tech and the Syracuse’s of the world that we out talent

We'd prolly be in same this same position if Smiffen was our coach just with weaker HS talent overall, he had a more stacked roster then we did & lost to a team we whooped up on lol smh

Looking around college football this year we know that **** happens. But we routinely had trouble with just about everyone this year. Dogfight in the first half with USF, down to Duke at the half, dogfight with Wake most of the game etc and obviously the VT and Cal games

These aren’t isolated incidents when we just run into a tough matchup which happens to everyone these days it seems

It’s a pattern

Stephen A Smith was right about it should be us not Bama but it is what it is man. They only common match up was USF who we blitz and they struggled. Even though a playoff exit will happen regardless with us, I always felt the top teams are too talented for us to play against.

Yeah man of course I’m disappointed that that was Cams last game. I think we have the better resume than Bama

But end of the day we are arguing about being the 12th or 13th best team so really like what are we even mad about?

Hey man I’m a fan of him but what would the optics be if he had the roster he has currently there which is better than ours (minus qb) with the same losses he put up this season.

well the optics are this- almost all coaches will lose a game or two they shouldn’t somewhere in their career. Most reasonable fans are aware of this.

The problem is Cristobal has lost a game to an inferior opponent literally every season of his career, so fans are always waiting for it to spoil a season , and it always happens.

Kiffin has lost games he shouldn’t but he also has had seasons where his teams took care of business and only lost to much more talented squads. Like just last year. Only 2 losses were to Bama and UGA. Can’t complain about that. Zero losses to mediocre or bad opponents in a very tough conference.

So an Ole Miss fans can have faith that a Kiffin coached team will go into games against Cuse or GT level opponents and have a reasonable expectation that Ole Miss will win. Now it may not happen and Ole Miss loses those games, but generally it’s viewed as a surprising upset as Kiffin typically has his teams prepared and has a good game plan. Fans don’t go through their schedule and automatically write in an L next to Kentucky or other average SEC opponent.

On the flip side, when the UM schedule comes out- what does every single UM fan do? We always pencil in 1-2 losses to a mediocre team. ALWAYS. We know it is inevitable.

That’s what the difference is. The problem with Cristobal isn’t that we lost two games we shouldn’t, the problem is we KNEW it was going to happen and is always going to happen.

Yea it is what it is man, I feel like everytime you have a cfb team as explosive as we are the defense is always ***......defense is always winded cause the offense is too **** good and the defense becomes *** cause everyone is tired asf. Happened at LSU but they won the natty, but it just seems that way everytime you have a crazy *** offense the defense is ***.

I think being a great offense changes the other teams gameplan. They know they gotta be super aggressive and just naturally more possessions is gonna be more yards

But yeah our defense wasn’t a “victim” of an elite offense and the stats were skewed. If anything they were much worse than the stats

he got a more stacked roster through the portal , which is what precisely UM fans are banking on now as the HS evals outside of OL and RB look shaky.

And had Ole Miss got into the playoffs and faced a team like Notre Dame, a lot of people would think “Kiffin could come up with surprising gameplan and upset them” while UM fans were pretty much unanimous we be getting bounced out of the playoffs immediately.

Most fan bases outside of 3 or 4 teams traffic in hopium. Miss the playoffs this year and they say, “We’ll get em next year.” Missing the playoffs this year would suck a whole lot less if we felt good that we will be in the hunt again next year.

I haven’t been on Ole Miss fansites but I’m guessing they aren’t saying “we’re a 6-7 win team next year” and expecting to take a major step back. They expect to reload in the portal again and for Kiffin to make the most out of the talent he gets, and they aren’t automatically planning for 1-2 losses to inferior opponents.

With those names on the DL I’m still shocked the defense was ***. I can’t even figure it out myself lol

I keep trying to tell people if dude is fired it won’t be because Mario wants him gone. I think he wants to give him another shot but we’ll see
Idk. I guess as an outsider looking in I just don’t get it.

Maybe he needs to step back , lol.

It’s a joke if he stays

Wasn’t penciling the losses not a thing to do before Mario.

Again I’m not trying to defend Mario I’m just trying to see how kiffin would be the clear choice over Mario. He has alot of resources at ole miss and it depends what you want to quantify as successful. Seems he has a higher floor but it also seems he’s capped out .

His 4th season being most successful imo but couldn’t get over the hump of that Georgia super team (not that anyone could).

I did really want him here and I wouldn’t even be upset if he came here. This season he just put out to me doesn’t seem like he’s the answer here either. In a sec without saban or a good Georgia team I thought he really dropped the ball with the roster he has.

I don’t know what the answer would be after but I just don’t think it’s plug and play kiffin.

I’m also just numb to everything being a Miami fan now. So I try not to put too much effort into stuff the Columbus mafia and bot is going to shove down our throats.
