2025 Tarvos “TJ” Alford II LB from Ft. Pierce sticks w/OSU

I keep trying to tell people if dude is fired it won’t be because Mario wants him gone. I think he wants to give him another shot but we’ll see
We’ll see. I personally think the entire defensive staff is wiped, although maybe that’s wishful thinking.

JT is most likely to leave imo. Regardless of what happens with Guidry

I'm just one of those who views the portal as a way to shore up a roster. I don't like the idea of banking on it.

Honestly I'm not even that upset about today. Nobody in the class is/was a must keep or have to get. Just surprised that it stagnated.
I think if you look at what he actually had to do via the portal you’ll be a lot more ok at the idea. The front 7 will experience a youth movement no way around it however the back end sans OJ will get a overhaul

He got the FIU job? Cause he wont be coaching at Miami next year
Can’t believe Mario would even think about bringing him back. His defense - let’s not discuss all the ways - ****ed away a potential championship season. Cost the school millions of dollars, not to mention future ticket sales and momentum, recruits and overall program perception.
The stench of bringing him back would be awful. Credibility is shot.

Probably average 10 wins & have one or two special seasons in total. Would need good fortune to win the big one.
Agreed and while I didn’t really care for the hire I’m not even saying it’s a bad thing

We gave the keys to the kingdom no strings attached to a guy that never really won much of anything

So much like the backup situation when people say “it can’t be worse”

The **** it can’t

lmfao, Mario wants to show early he's a failure, huh?
All jokes aside what would you do? Not from a fan perspective but as a ceo of a program? Got what you paid for year 1. Year 2 catastrophic given the circumstances. Who would you believe is the real Guidry based on body of work

I think it’s one of the rare cases of cutting your nose to spite your face. You could be right though. We’ll see

This Guidry thing is weird to me …. Last year he navigated the season much better when we took hits to the DL . This year was just straight dawg water

If JT leaves there's no reason to keep any of the defensive staff. Him and DNic are the two best recruiters on the defensive. Big Joe is the Samoan connection. I think he could be moved to an off field role like some others.

Mario has slow timelines for staffing decisions. Just because Guidry or anyone else is here today doesn't mean they will still be around in two weeks, or still be around in January.

No he isn't.

Taylor has called South Florida home for decades. He loves living down here and coaching here; coming over to Miami from St. Thomas Aquinas—not climbing any coaching ladder.

Got remarried in 2020, has a young four year old kid with his new wife and living life in Plantation, Florida.

More money than he knows what to do with and coaches for fun. Zero chance this guy is uprooting his wife Monica—a Miami native and former Dolphins cheerleader—so that at 50 years old he can start climbing the coaching ladder and moving from city to city for a job.

He'll either coach at UM or he'll hang it up to be home with his family (or at best a cushy broadcasting gig here he's flying private and gone weekends)—but he's obviously enjoying what he's doing, just like he dug coaching high school ball when his kids were at St. Thomas.

I think his hiring/tenure was necessary. Miami Football needed a revamp from top to bottom. I'd prefer him to be a stop-gap in the grand scheme but it will linger longer than that. That's ok.. Irrelevance is hard to overcome.

I would question why players dislike him. Why players don't play the technique that they are taught. Why we keep running defensive schemes that don't work. Why he doesn't fulfill the recruiting duties to the standards that he is being asked of.

Football is a results-driven field. He got a raise, his unit completely collapsed and certain players under his unit either underperformed or weren't worth the NIL money that's being spent.

Ultimately, I would say it's not a match and tell him to look for a different job for the aforementioned reasons.

I'm perfectly fine with that if he can pull it off. At this point we need **** near an entire secondary.

But.. we've gone to the portal for D'yoni Hill, Terry Roberts, Davante Brown, Jadias Richard, Mish Powell, Savion Riley, Jaden Davis and Daryl Porter. Might as well throw Demetrius Freeney in there too since he was a JUCO.

Hopefully the money will help them go big game hunting instead of targeting ___ (Idk what to call those guys above).
