Talk lately has me a little nervous about 2020 football season. Thoughts?

Do you think we will play football in 2020?

Lol at taking any information out of China for anything other than lies. They lied about this thing from the get go and tortured and murdered their own Dr’s to cover it up.

When they shut the country down, we were told the objective was to flatten the curve and prevent the medical system from being overwhelmed, not to stay locked in our homes until the virus is gone. Well, hospitals are empty, medical staff are being laid off and furloughed, and we are no where near max capacity. Meanwhile, promising results are coming out on therapeutics and medical equipment is being manufactured at such record levels that we’re starting to wonder what we are going to do with all the ventilators we are building.

So why, exactly, can’t Wyoming and Iowa and 800 cases in all of Duval County just START the process of going back to living life? If the only viable option is 100% safety, then we need to bulldoze the roads and crush all the cars and wrap every single home in plastic.
I agree with everything you say about China. I loathe China and all that government stands for, and I absolutely detest our dependence on China.

Where did you get the other information about hospitals being empty and medical staff being laid off and furloughed? And I've heard Trump talk about hundreds of thousands of ventilators being manufactured, but I haven't seen anything specific on if any have any actually been made and delivered, or if we're still relying on the ones that were already in existence. I'd love to see something concrete on that.

Ok, and 90% of the people who catch it will go on with their lives. It's not a death sentence.

Once this thing is said and done and the studies have been completed, that number is likelier to be above 99% than anywhere near 90%. It is a novel virus, which raises concern, means we don’t know much at the outset, and therefore caution is warranted. But as we learn, we should adjust as the data comes in. For those without specific and generally known risk factors, this thing isn’t anywhere near a death sentence.

Maybe ur right.....well how about Santa Clara County, a county right next door to me, have just been exposed as under reporting their cases? They now are saying they estimate 81k individuals have been affected by the Coronavirus which is about 200% more than was reported.

Listen, I know mofos wanna think this is some conspiracy b/c we need our lives to just go back to normal, but this chit is real. My best friend just lost his dad the Coronavirus, and he’s from Philly. His dad was the first known death in Ghana....Ghana wasn’t even on the radar. Mom wasn't able to bury him or anything. They thought he died from malaria, but post mortem observations showed he died from COVID. They buried in him off site 8 feet deep, my g.

So maybe it’s us that’s under reporting chit so we don’t panic and trick ourselves into thinking it’s all good, let’s get back to normalcy. The chit is real, pimp. I’ve had way too many ppl affected by this personally to know that the chit ain’t going away.

Btw, the reason y my best friend’s mom & dad were in Ghana is b/c they work for the pharmaceutical company that manufactures the malaria vaccine that’s been used in case studies to treat COVID. It was administered to my boy’s pops when he showed signs, and he died anyway.

Empty hospitals and furloughed dr’s. Not hard to find.

Not a lot of mainstream reporting on the ventilator issue after everyone insisted hundreds of thousands would be needed, Cuomo shrieked that he needed 40,000 and then was shown to have needed only half of what he already had (about 6k needed at the peak as I recall). Here is link to IHME (whose projections have been alarmistly high) showing the total FL need, no where near our capacity.

I’m sorry I couldn’t quickly find an article explaining how many had been built or were in the pipeline. But we all know by now that the Govt has invoked the Defense Production Act to get at least twelve (IIRC) major companies to build more ventilators.

Man, sorry for your losses, brother. No doubt this is real. I take it seriously on my own life, believe me. My 1 year old daughter hasn’t seen any of her grandparents in months because we don’t want to risk losing them. Many milestones missed. We are the blessed, though, I get it.

And Santa Clara isn’t under reporting, that’s not a conspiracy or anything, it’s just that lots of people have had it who never even knew it. I probably have had it, my man. I was traveling all over for work just before the shut down hit. At the end of the day, that’s good news, not bad news! The fact that lots of people have had this who never even knew it means that it’s not anywhere near as deadly as the current data suggests. Right now, we really only know about the worst cases.

Man, we have to take this serious, and we have to protect the most vulnerable. But a total lockdown is not the only way to do that and it’s not necessarily the best way. Let’s let different parts of the country do what they think is best, learn from each other, and be here to support each other without judgment when areas and people need our help.

You can never out run death. All medicines don't work for everyone. Some people get results from chemo some don't. The same with other ailments. We can play cat and mouse all day. Their isn't one side to the equation...

I can agree w this; man, listen...70% of my pay have been cut, baby cousins I’ve raised since birth have graduated from Pepperdine & Fordham respectively and we can’t celebrate. Lost two father figures from this chit. Man, I want this mug to end, quick brotha. All I keep seeing is the number rise though, and I’m like wtf?!

And u’re right, u & I both may have had it. Matter of fact, I’m going in for a test, b/c back in January, I was tested positive w pneumonia like symptoms and Flu B. My pulmonologist now thinks COVID have been around much longer, and that new “unidentified” strand of the Flu was actually COVID. They wanna test my antibodies.

But yeah, sharing is caring. We do need to see what’s working & what’s not working, so we can get through this together.

Thanks, friend. I've been hearing Trump flapping his gums about all the ventilators and how beautiful they are, but I haven't seen anything reported on them actually being made. He's lied so much that I don't trust anything that comes out of his mouth. That's why I'm looking for some actual verification of how many ventilators/PPE we have actually manufactured here since this started.

You're misrepresenting the situation in Santa Clara. In fact, the Santa Clara case makes the best argument for going back to living our lives. Santa Clara has reported 1,870 confirmed cases with 73 deaths. If 80,000+ people are actually infected and only 73 deaths have been attributed to CV then the real mortality rate is only .09%, which is only 2% of the projected rate of 3.4. We really have no ******* clue how many people are infected.

One of the best posts I've seen in this thread.

I’ll try to remember to share something if I come across it. Bottom line, though, the fear about shortage of ventilators seems to have been overblown from the beginning. Those projections had 2M Americans dying, and now they’re saying 60k. So the fear about the shortage was never realistic. At least not in this country, and not based on the latest data and predictive models.

CNBC has been pretty much all I’ve been watching, pretty sure they’ve had good reporting on manufacturing numbers and the like. Can’t say there’s not some bias that creeps through on there, but by and large they have by far the most balanced and reasoned reporting I’ve seen since the beginning on this thing. They’ve talked about us sending ventilators to Europe and Africa since it now appears we’ve ramped up our production capabilities beyond our need.

How am I misrepresenting Santa Clara? Ninja I live out here! Lol. It’s been all over our news.

But, to your point, that’s still a very low mortality rate. Here’s the article.

It seems like the fear was coming from data provided by scientists. Cuomo wasn't just fear mongering or listening to CNN. He was listening to the studies and projections at the time and trying to plan ahead.

As it turned out, our efforts to social distance is exactly what stopped this thing from getting out of control to the point where the hospitals and existing equipment were completely overwhelmed. It was touch and go for awhile though early with all the footage coming from those hospitals with the frontline workers completely overwhelmed and re-using PPE and using bandanas instead of proper masks.

It's starting to turn now, but it's disingenuous for some people (not you specifically) to act like because civilized people cooperated with the quarantine and stopped the virus from spreading to ghastly numbers that it was never a gigantic threat. At one point, it absolutely was.
