Syracuse v Pitt Game Thread

Syracuse winning here helps us in the unlikely scenario that SMU, Clemson, and us go undefeated

dan Mullen said McCord may be the best transfer player in the country - lmao. must have been a slip of the mind
Best transfer for Pitt tonight. He’s scored 3 TD’s, for the other team.

I saw a lot of man coverage. Their linebackers are a lot more active in coverage and change direction much quicker than I see 1 and 31 doing. Their DL gets off the snap so much faster than ours.

To me it seems like a mentality. Our defense seems too lazy or relaxed and hesitant. Maybe we are thinking too much or playing a complicated scheme.
I read a stat somewhere that we lead the country in QB pressures. I don't think our DLine is the problem at all

Ten former University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) players have been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including:
  • Darrelle Revis: Cornerback who played for the Panthers from 2004–2006 and was elected in 2023
  • Jimbo Covert: Offensive tackle who played for the Panthers from 1978–1982 and was elected in 2020
  • Mike Ditka: Tight end who was elected in 1988
  • Chris Doleman: Defensive end/linebacker who was elected in 2012
  • Tony Dorsett: Running back who was elected in 1994
  • Russ Grimm: Offensive lineman who was elected in 2010
  • Rickey Jackson: Linebacker who was elected in 2010
  • Dan Marino: Quarterback who was elected in 2005
  • Curtis Martin: Running back who was elected in 2012
  • Joe Schmidt: Linebacker who was elected in 1973
I won’t lie, Aaron Donald, Revis, Marino, and Ditka is a solid list.

I think Pitt can challenge Clemson and SMU. The Pitt defense can keep the games close.
I understand it is a totally different thing going on tonight, but coming into this game they were the 61st D by yards (353) and 65th by points (23.5).

For comparison, Miami is 21st (306) and 57th (22.57).

It's just silly for Mullen to bring up the offensive stats saying Syracuse is dominating statistically. Yes, and for good reason.

When Pitt gets pick-6's, their offense is getting on the field because Syracuse gets the ball back. Duh.
