Syracuse v Pitt Game Thread

Can't believe Syracuse came out of a bye week and didn't even try to establish the run on the road against Pitt and Narduzzi. Insane. McCord had been dropping back 50+ times a game in the first 6, what the **** did they think was gonna happen when they pllayed a real defense?

I'm as guilty as anyone, but maybe the Stanford game should have been a red flag against Syracuse. Stanford has been blown out four straight times but went into the Carrier Dome and won.

They are also in zone a lot so the WR are running in front of their face. Lot easier than in man and always in chase mode
I saw a lot of man coverage. Their linebackers are a lot more active in coverage and change direction much quicker than I see 1 and 31 doing. Their DL gets off the snap so much faster than ours.

To me it seems like a mentality. Our defense seems too lazy or relaxed and hesitant. Maybe we are thinking too much or playing a complicated scheme.

This is Narduzzi's blueprint. He doesn't change. His corners play man and the safties play zone. He plays man even if the corners aren't good. He's been doing it for years. They rely on pressure up front and playing tight coverage. If they get beat. they get beat.

His philosophy is they'll win on defense more than they'll lose getting his defense off the field.
