Off-Topic Stock Market & Crypto Discussion

I plan to buy a very small position. With bigger adds once it dips hard over the next few months. Been burnt by these highly touted IPOs. Coin, Rivian, Abnb.

The following is a general statement, not a discussion of ARM:

When Congress tightened the IPO rules after the dotcom bust they made them too tough, so a lot of companies are waiting longer and longer to go public.

A whole new industry was born, the pre-ipo private equity fund, though which wealthy individuals invest in private companies, so the result is that rich people are now making the big money from private companies, and there is much less vig to be made at the IPO.

So as a made up example, in pre 2001, MSFT might have gone public in year 5 at $100; in todays world, they would be going public in year 7 at $200, so that extra $100 is going to the wealthy investor and not the IPO investor.

Hopefully I explained that well enough.

From today's ML research, read this because its important

Tale of the Tape:

SPX earnings yield 4.6% minus T-bill yield 5.5% = -90bps, lowest since 2000; when EY towers over T-bill yield (Mar’03 = 550bps, Mar’09 = 1000bps,Mar’20 = 700 – Chart 9) max bullish time for stocks & credit; when gap negative (Aug’00= -250bps) or low (Jul’07 = 80bps) not so great for stocks and credit.

Yep. Due to dojo.
Ramifications of AI Dojo are huge, not just with Tesla and FSD robo taxis, but with AI services to other companies in and outside of the EV industry.

ARKs Cathy Wood put a price target of over $2,000 ($2,700?) per share in 5 years, and that really didn't account for services like Dojo.
