Richt played himself by giving Banda and Patke the job. They aren’t going to bring anyone in high level recruiting wise. Their resume is weak compared to other top schools. Another huge mistake that will eventually lead to Richts firing after next year.

Scheme did not make your defense #2 in the country, players do that, and players do that as a result of how they are coached, not someone's knowledge of a scheme. You now have 2 DC's that have never called a game and an head coach who sides with the offense. If people here
think that Banda and Patke are ready to replace Manny Diaz because they know the scheme you are going to be majorly disappointed.

Banda and Patke aren’t necessarily bad for DCs. They may very well turn out like Scott and Elliott at Clemson after Chad Morris left.

But it’s a horrible risk to take while your offense sucks ***.

I'm talking the shannon years as a head coach. But yes we did have better defenses in the championship years of course...Also, I would prob argue with you that outside of the 1-3 year span with the 1st round monsters everywhere Shannon's defenses started to go downhill in the mid-late Coker years...When there were only like 3-5 1st rounders out there instead of 8. Overall I think Shannon was very average, but yeah miscommunication on my part...In our original comparison, I meant him as a HC aka "The Shannon Years"
