Stephen Morris NFL Draft hype picking up steam...

I think losing coach Fisch hurt his development, if Fisch was still here Morris would be a little more surgical this season and sliced up that UF defense.

There was a lotta money on the table for him in this UF game because they have an elite defense with future NFL defenders that scouts can assess his ability against the same way they did Bridgewater. He could of grabbed the 2nd best draft eligible QB spot in this game with a better performance, but didnt improve his stock at all here, may even have hurt it.

I think he has lost some ground and that some of the guys behind him are closing him down, guys like Boyd who has performed well so far this season and improved his draft stock, Murray has also with that huge game against S Carolina. Morris will need sharp outings against FSU and VT to try and get into that first round and hold off the QBs behind him...especially if they keep turning in solid performances against good defenses in big games like they have.

Barring disasters against basically all the tougher defenses, I think he's a guy who'll ultimately rise quickly when he's in shorts. He looks the part. His arm will draw people in. His off-field demeanor and approach will be viewed as positives. He's supposedly good on the white board. All those things add up to being a guy who rises during the offseason and as the draft approaches.

I'll stick by what I wrote above.

I'd be suprised if Morris went before the 3rd round. I think thats the right spot for him to be honest, plenty of upside but plenty of downside too, not sure if he really has it upstairs for the way the NFL has moved at the QB position.

Can smeone explain to me why he seldom throws to the middle of the field?

It's an uncanny ability to no t use 1/3 of the playing field.

Is that by design? I honestly don't know.

coach golden said he was not taking any chances with those throws against UF...too many play makers and int percentages were to high..

Morris had time on sat to throw and hurt UF and set up the running game,,,not sure where the blame was...once UF sniffed this out they just put both safeties in the box and destroyed our running game..we never adjusted we won but with a sr Qb we need him to manage the game yet we ran into 9 guys in the box over and over and when he did decide to pass on 3rd and long it was drop back pass knowing full well UF was coming..poor calls and poor execution

It must be Coley's offense. I don't remember having this issue last year. But it has been very noticeable in the first 2 games.

So very similar to Manuel then.

Looks the part, will interview well.

Just doesn't quite have 'it' when on the field.

I know some have already ruled him out but there are at least 10 games left. In addition, there is a good amount of time till he goes against a quality defense.

He will get better.

Yep. I will say GT has some ALL-ACC type talent on defense though. They aren't world beater's but they got a few kids getting ready to go to the league.

It's early and they beat Elon 70-0, I wouldn't exactly say they were tested. For GT, they have a nice 3 game set prior to us (@Duke, UNC and VT) and a long week (we don't) before they play us on the road.

He has, and will do great in shorts an a t-shirt, should run and throw well at the combine, has enough height. Coming into this season he had generated some hype from his highlight reel throws from last year and the Manning passing camp performance, expectations were for him to show out on the field this season, but so far his first two games are underwhelming.

Is he gonna grab the opp to be the 2nd or third QB off the board?

Like you have alluded to, he needs strong outings against the tuff defenses that FSU, VT and the chmps and bowl games will present to him....if he doesnt have these strong outings i cant see him rising up boards after the season.....in fact I think he started the season pretty high on draft boards and is flirting with dropping down at this point.

Hope he gets it together and turns it around, would be good for us to have a solid starting QB in the league again. Given the situation in Jacksonville maybe Fisch can request they draft him if he blows up by the end of the season.

I agree except for the fact that we won.... style points don't mean too much at the end of the day.

I feel like I've seen enough of him and he's at this point in his career where you can draw some definitive conclusions on him. A main thing I'm realizing is he has a first round arm and an Arena League brain. He just can't make the quick, smart decisions when he's under pressure or his first couple of options aren't there. He doesn't have it upstairs.

He can still win us a lot of games this year, we just have to keep him out of situations where he has a meltdown and makes poor decisions.

If we get a lead this year, expect the offense to go with the 4 minute drill, it just didnt work against UF because that's their game and they have a great defense.

And judging by Golden's takes today, he knows very well we've got to get the offense on the same page and more playmakers on the field.

Coley can spread the field as good as anyone...yet he shot himself in the foot at FAU...once we learn to stretch the safeties and corners our running game gets rolling..

Let's not forget what the Gators did to EJ Manuel last year. You may have seen EJ last week carving up Belichick's defense.

We need to get better, but Morris is the best Miami quarterback since Dorsey. He will lead us to where we haven't been in years.

I've grown sceptical of Morris. I just don't think he is consistent enough to be fully effective in a game. He has a good 1 1/2 quarters in him, other than that he doesn't produce. Would love to be wrong on this though.

I'm thinking Golden will correct - although with the way our D played, distinctly possible we gave up the middle. Overly cautious IMO.
