Started watching VTech games...

BC put 34 f**king points on them and we are acting like a bunch of pussies.

Its really sad.

I think you need to look closer at the game and how much their offense blew it for them (see below).

7 points were on a pick 6.

3 points came when the ball was intercepted and returned to the VT 15.

7 points came after Logan Thomas was tackled and fumbled on the VT 17.

VT had 4 turnovers and 17 points came on those turnovers. BC had 289 yards and was 2 for 12 on 3rd down. BC didn't put up 34 points directly from driving the ball and scoring.

BC also ripped off a 62 yard TD run.

Chase Rettig only threw like 10 passes.

I'd feel better if Duke was healthy. Crawford, OT, and Gus are gonna have to produce.

My point is that VT's defense is legit

Morris vs VT in his career:

28-61 46%, 372 yards, 3 TD, 3 INT

Inconsistent (there's a big f-cking surprise)

A lot of the bad was from that g-d awful game when he was a true freshman in 2010 though. He was 15-33 for 202 yards with 1 TD and 3 INT that game. Last year he was 13-28 for 170 with 2 TD and 0 INT. Jacory was 13-21 for 277 with 3 TD and 0 INT in 2011 against them.

Last year the Morris and the Canes didn't have a 3rd conversion until the 4th quarter! If that is the case... Miami will lose this year!

But yet they still won 30-12. It was 14-3 quick and we led comfortably most of the game without a 3rd down conversion. Sometimes stats are just stats.

After a big play from Duke on special teams and Logan T threw a terrible pass straight to Gunter Miami was up 14-3... But wasn't it 20-12 and VT was about to score and Thomas dropped the **** snap???

Miami was winning 20-12 going into the 4th! They also had 3 yards in the 3rd and went 1-12 on 3rd downs for the game!

I know that hasn't been the only game where Thomas has self destructed, but it was hardly over!

I don't follow the bold part.

VT's offense ranks 107 in rushing, 65 in passing and 102 in points scored. As long as we protect the ball and don't make Special Teams mistakes, we win this game by 14 pts....

Man, this should be an interesting game for Morris.

They mix and match their zones really well. And, I don't mean on different plays alone. On one side of the field, they play one coverage and on another side they play man or some variation. They stack the box with defenders, but keep 5-6 DBs in the game. They do a lot of cool things with their defensive backfield, which I guess makes sense since they have at least 4-5 future NFL-caliber players there. Along their front, everyone is going upfield hard.

Coach Coley needs to play a huge role here in simplifying Morris' looks/reads. We didn't do anything too complex against FSU, and maybe I'm off here, but I'm more concerned about this defense than FSU's.

From watching film of our D, do we do any of this?

I ain't getting trolled into this one, sir!

I haven't seen a lot of it, but I think we ran it some in the 4th against Wake (though I'm not entirely sure), but we definitely ran it on a 3rd down against FSU on the first drive (only part of that game I've gotten into so far). We played man on the boundary with Tracy and I think Jenkins, zone to the field, and it froze Winston, AQM got pressure but then a lane opened to the man side and Winston took off for 19 yards. It's not something I've seen a lot from us though.

That's basically the way they use it - man to the boundary side and some variation of zone to the field (which I assume is what you meant to type). Would really help if R. Scott can play this game. Hard to jam him, goes up for the ball, etc.

If we run that slow developing counter play where Walford comes across our formation to lead, the loudest noise in the stadium will either be from the crack on our RBs helmet or my head banging against the rail in my section.

Just further illustrating that BC did not consistently move the ball against VTech. Obviously big plays are a positive, but allowing one monster run isn't necessarily a sign of bad rush defense.

I hear ya, their running back is pretty good though he was able to do good things against a good D.

I just want to see a play action off of that play so much. Coley's gotta break tendency against VT all day. PA on the counter and power (especially in the double tight set with Malcolm out wide), running out of the 4 wide shotgun stuff.

Besides their funning back Logan Thomas was BC's best player. BC played field position at all costs, punting inside VT territory with a 4th and short. Point being they made VT go long distance with that challenged offense. If Miami is able to run, play action will be available.

Yes, Logan Thomas sucks. But, I would feel a lot better if he didn't go 23 of 25 against us not so long ago.

He was terrible against BC and Duke, but maybe he becomes a stud this weekend. Personally, form what I saw, if we can get any pressure he throws it up, his throws have a tendency to be high and thus incomplete or intercepted.

I heard we were working on our tackling and zone coverage this week.

So I feel warm and fuzzy all over.

Morris is going to Morris.

This is the problem, I watched a bit of their game against BC... and BC would bring the heat if needed, and Thomas obliged by throwing into the middle of the field.. On third and long we'll be dropping 8, or even worse, sending a poorly disguised blitz which will be easily picked up.

Al needs to find a way to get aggressive on defense and put tons of pressure on their offense. But with so much on the line I think he crawls into a shell and hopes for the best.
