Staff may just go all in with Emory now…

Not sure who may enter the portal after the playoffs, but not sure there’s anyone we’ll throw millions at.

With emory it’s a different looking offense. More balanced. More running. But we have the oline and rbs to do it. We’ll win but win not relying on a superstar at qb to be the focus of the offense and be the star.
**** NO THEY BETTER TF NOT

Yall go through these threads and take note of our elite scouting department and realize we get bent out of shape about what some of these people think 😂

Listen brother, I'm not getting any younger. The next great hope is the spring window. Stop taking a crap in my bowl of stale Cheerios.

The worlds coming to an end soon. For years I was considered the biggest "mope" on this board and now I'm trying to talk reason into people.
You were a big mope and a terminator on X.

You really pulled out the jedi tricks on us.

Lol j/k still one of my favorite guys on the board

No tricks brother.....unfortunately almost everything I said ended up being right about those respective coaching situations. For the record, I was never a Mario guy either. That's well documented in the archives of this board.

As a former CCHS guy who's son currently goes there....I'm rooting for Mario. On top of all that, his contract tells you we're stuck with him for a LONG time.

Trying the make the best of the situation. It's either that or just give up on CFB entirely which goes against my programming.

Next great hope is getting one of starting QBs that played bowls from today onward or from the playoffs to portal here. Hoover/Becht/Robertson/Ewers/getting Beck to play another year. Then the last great hope is the spring portal.

👀... curious what your thoughts are now after watching that circus of an offense with Emory at the helm lol...coaches trusted him so much they barely let him even attempt a pass beyond the line of scrimmage. When he did it was either incomplete, batted down or intercepted lol

Of course....but if you're looking at the current crop of playoff QBs here's the reasonable inventory

- Beck : Declaring
- Ewers : Probably declaring and either way his team will probably be in it until the end so you're going to have to wait regardless
- Leavitt : I wish, but no indication he'd be willing to leave

That leaves Nico....who can't throw. Would I take Nico over Emory? Of course but again there isn't any indication outside the Vols message board that he'd seriously consider leaving.

So yeah, most likely this situation extends into the next window. If we're gonna pray for someone like Nico to come free I'd argue we should be back-channeling the **** out of Mateer and making him an offer he can't refuse to re-consider his decision. That's also likely a pipe dream.

I think they sign something binding starting this year so don't think Mateer is an option.

If the Nico rumors are true I'd take him in an instant. He has a ton of potential. His OL sucked at pass pro and when Dant'e Thornton is your #1 WR you don't have a great set of WRs. With our OL and Dawson I think he'd do great here.

Ewers is an option until he declares and stays in the draft. He's also an obvious take, and always has been despite what some folks said here. I don't think it matters how long he's potentially playing for, considering how desperate we are to get a QB.

Hoover/Becht/Robertson all are options for at least 5 more days. Pursue with reckless abandon.
