Don't want to get ahead of myself here but wanted to throw a question out. With the talent/depth we have at WR position does anyone else think that Stacy Coley could have a freshman season like Sammy Watkins did a couple years ago at Clemson?

It will be borderline impossible to double team any of our WR's which will free up Coley. Just thinking out loud here Canes fans:neonu:

totally depends on playing time

he def could be special - but so too could 3 guys ahead of him

Too many quality options for him to put up that much production. He may already have the most pure talent of the group, but there are a lot of good football players for us at wideout with experience.

Rashawn Scott
Allen Hurns
Herb Waters
Phil Dorsett

That's 4 guys in front of him, not including Malcolm Lewis.

I think he'd have to have a next level training camp to get the reps necessary to have a "Watkins" or "Cooper" level impact as a freshman.

Don't think he'll have that type of season but, I think he has more talent as crazy as it may sound. He will make a serious impact but we have arguably the deepest receiving core in the nation and his touches will be somewhat limited.

His and Dorsett's ability to stretch the field will open up a world of opportunities for offense though.... TE's, WRs and RBs... CANT WAIT FOR THIS SEASON TO START ALREADY!

Sammy Watkins had over 100 touches his Frosh season. I can't imagine Coley will get anywhere near that kind of opportunity.

a very good O-line and a above average QB can make any receiver look elite

If Morris has all day to throw any decent receiver is only matter of time they get open.

This year I see Dorsett, Lewis, Herm, Scott and few tight ends getting balls thrown their way before Coley.

He needs to deserve the spot first. I see Coley being put in when we are up 20-30 on a sub part team and he will shine.

Amari was just shy of 60 touches last year and I think getting even THAT many opportunities is a bit of a stretch.

I don't have any hesitancy in saying that we have the best receiving core in the country.

Gonna be tough for ANYBODY on our WR depth chart to have a really big year.

I'm one of, if not the biggest Coley fan on the board but I don't see it being possible. Just too many quality veteran receivers.

He is the best receiver on the team though, talent wise, and Golden has shown he will let the best players play so I suppose a big season is possible for someone.

Florida has some outstanding corners, possibly two future first rounders + a more than solid Watkins and Hargreaves. If Miami has trouble getting separation for a few quarters a can definitely see Miami throwing out Coley to see what he can do. Wouldn't that be interesting.

This, agree that his talent will get him on the field a lot though.

If he is the best receiver on the team then he can definitely have that typ of season. I would rather he had an Amari type season though. Not as many touches but more meaningful plays. If he only gets 40-50 touches but scores 10 tds that would be fantastic. Id rather have quality than quantity touches

Hey Miami, what are your thoughts on going up against highly touted cornerbacks who are expected to go early in the following year's draft?

I agree. However, my question to you and those who have seen this kid play is can he play in the slot? My thinking is that with his athleticism and explosiveness, he would be a nightmare match up working against nicback/LBers and safeties. Morris needs a route runner to operate in the middle of the field, and SColey just might be the solution.

Also throw in the fact that S. Morris doesn't single out one or two receivers. His game has always been to spread the ball around so even if Coley gets in some meaningful game time, he wouldn't be an isolated target so no way he even has the opportunity to put up any type of amazing numbers. I do think he is talented enough to but the opportunities will be few and far in between. Make the most of them Mr. Coley!

Stefon diggs had a great freshman year last year for Maryland and he had 850 + yards receiving and 6 tds. That was when they only through the ball to 4 different receivers really(only 4 receivers had more than 10 catches). We have way too much talenr spread around for coley to have 1200 yards and 12 tds like watkins had
