Something to keep in mind when you see Miami departures

The room is pretty stacked, but I personally will never say no to legitimate pass rushers.

Bain, Mesidor, Kelly, and Wayne as a top 4 is about as good as it gets.

Then you have your ‘24 signees. I would definitely bring the kid in but 🤷🏾‍♂️.
Looks good on paper. The ceiling is high. The risk is even higher. Only Bain and Mesidor are proven to me.

But Mesidor dealt with injuries from the second he got to Miami, had multiple cleanup surgeries, and played through some stuff all year in 2022 and then played only 1.5 games in 2023. Kelly is hardly proven. Accumulated some sacks in garbage time in 2022 and then took a massive step back in 2023 looking like a total jag before going down with a season ending injury. Hope it was something lingering and slowing him down.

Wayne played almost strictly garbage time and didn't really look that twitchy as a pass rusher. Smart/nifty player that will contribute with a high motor.

Chantz and Harvey are gone. Acheampong has been injured for more than 12 months now dating back to HS and is unproven. Lightfoot is the only freshman that will be physically ready to play coming in.. until they sign someone else...

Bain played so many snaps as a true freshman due to injury.. they desperately wished they had some depth to help him out this year. I'd hate to see it happen again. They need 1 guy from the portal to bridge that gap.

If they sign who they think they're going to at DE and he can play right away like they think he can... it will be fine

I've been confused why we didn't see more names yesterday enter.. you would think these kids would want any kind of first-mover advantage they could get.

And you would think if it's a force out scenario with some of these kids, the coaches would give them every bit of time available to find a new home.

I also think nobody is really paying attention to how many spots we actually have.
I’m actually surprised by the lack of portal entries we have this far. Given the size of our HS recruiting class and the fact we are still involved with at least a handful of blue chip recruits that are absolute takes, we need a lot of guys to dip. And our DE class out of HS is already going to be big - if we land Dylan Stewart even bigger. And if we land Blount even bigger (think long term he’s a DT, but not to start out). Like literally Steward, Lightfoot, Rudolph, McConathy, Pickett (pass rusher who will play lb, but still) and that’s on top of Mesidor, Kelly, Bain, and Wayne… we don’t need more than 9-10 DEs on this roster.

Now idk if there is a way to have more than 85… like just pay them nil to cover tuition? Idk. But like just look at our current roster. We have far bigger priorities at QBx2, DTx2, CB, S…and it looks like we are bringing in a portal WR, Lb, maybe a center?… **** I think we NEED a TE badly and to kick cam McCormick out.

Is Okunlola a take? He should be. Is he a Need? No.

Agree.Mesidor,Bain,Kelley,Wayne,Lightfoot,Rudolph,Mcconathy, rumors of Stewart and Amare Williams reclassifying. That's 8 or 9 DEs which is as deep as you can be at that position, any more and you're taking spots rom other position groups.

I know the board is 50-50 on him but I dont want to lose Brashard Smith. If he has a shot to go to an Oregon or Washington or USC type offense then I wouldnt blame him I guess but definitely want to keep him in the fold. He is the only person I can think of off the top of my head.
I was just responding to who would be catastrophic to lose. There’s no one player on the roster that would be a catastrophe if he left. There’s plenty of good players I don’t want leaving but even if our best young player, Reuben Bain left, the team wouldn’t just fall apart. We finally have some decent depth at a lot of positions where losing one guy isn’t the end of the world.

Definitely want to keep, but he’s replaceable.

Yikes..

There were some concerns about tampering because Narduzzi is known to cry publicly about it

Possible they think he's not good enough to risk those allegations considering it has happened and would be easy to find. Same thing as Andre Sam last year with Tulane.

They're crazy if they don't think he's good enough strictly based off the offers he's got since he entered and who recruited him to Pitt to begin with.
That ship has sailed. No one listens.

I haven’t seen anything out of Kelly that makes me think he’s anything more than replacement player. Now he’s coming off of injury. I’m not writing him off at all I just want to see him flash more when he returns.

IDGAF who leaves as long as whomever is replacing them is younger and better. We've been 12-12 the last two regular seasons. Aside from some of the youngsters, who is really going to make you sad if they leave (who haven't already announced)?
What's wrong with older and better??

Another list with Parrish. I don’t get it. He’s our best back.
He’s out best back… that by the end of the season was completely over taken by Chaney and Fletcher. And Chaney is already in portal. Parrish didn’t do much. He’s been a solid rb here. Same way Fletcher jumped him by end of season so will Riley. And Chris Johnson has more potential. Citizen is coming off injury so I’m not going to count him as better. Allen is probably not quite as good, but fillls the same role.

If you’re Parrish why stay. And for us, why not go with the youth?

Parrish was the best back in every game he played in.

FWIW I’m not disagreeing with you. We need more explosiveness in that room. Just stating the obvious.

He got hurt against UNC. When he finally came back healthy he rushed for 111 on 10 att and 2 TDs. He avg 1.5 more yards than any back, led the team in rushing and TDs despite getting the fewest att between DC and Fletch. Parrish is a dog and a great example to the young kids. He plays as physical as anyone on the team. Why give that up when him and Fletch are the perfect complement?

Bain
Mesidor
Porter
Arroyo
Williams
Lee
Rivers
Cooper
Samson
Both Mauigoas
Bissainthe
Fletcher
Colbie
George
Restrepo
The entire 2023 class
Borregales

I didn’t even think and that’s like 35 kids. We need a lot of help.

I agree with all except Colbie.

Dude stinks at route running. Way to slow out his breaks and cuts. Losing Horton is much more catastrophic in my opinion.

I'm expecting him to overthrow Colbie in the X spot. He's faster and a way better route runner.
