Someone Who Knows Things

Nobody "forgot" that Wazzu had a bad OL. That's the main reason Cam here. He wanted to play with a great OL. That's one thing I expect to stay consistent here, given Mario and Mirabal's track record going back to Oregon
Didn't post about it prior, so it was coincidentally left out. Of course.

As for the WRs, Josh Kelly had 1K this year with Texas Tech and Kyle Williams had almost 1,200 yards this year with John Mateer. So yes, they were legit 1K-yard receivers.
Were they 1K-receivers when Cam played? So Cam only profits from them, he doesn't develop, they do? Ever thought of the O-Line actually existing mattering to some extent again or not?

Everybody knows Cam is the man, and everybody expects the offense to take a step back without him. But your point that our offense was a one-man show falls apart when you look at Washington State.
As I said, keep believing yourself that. Washington State had next to no talent up front and basically had to wing their way around. No RB averaged 4 yards a carry in 2023 and their leading RB rusher averaged 5.4 in 2024, along with a QB that was a dual-threat. Cam Ward was the one-man-show at Washington State in 2023 and he was the one-man-show here.

But you'll see. I can't wait. This positive spinaroo **** needs to end and I'll call it out any time.

Cam went from playing with no real next level talent to 3rd and 4th round guys. If you wanna say the o-line here was a blessing then absolutely but cam woulda went off with just about anyone if he had this o-line. The cam helped us and we helped him argument is largely overblown. Cam helped us exponentially more. He also had the most to gain from it
Nice to hear it from someone else. Thanks.

I agree we had a lot more talent here. So what are we arguing about?

Nobody is saying that any QB can just step in here and do what Cam did. He's the best QB in the country and a first round pick. I'd say 95% of the people on here, myself included, expect our offense to get worse and the next QB to be worse.

But the narrative that we had nothing on offense without Ward is just wrong.

Good post but I don’t think UM can get talent like Ohio State. We can’t buy players like they do.

A more realistic model is Notre Dame. They have one 5 star on the roster, but lots of high 4 stars. we can do that. They dominated a UGA team with 14x more 5 stars on their roster. They did it by having smart disciplined players and exceptional coaching. It’s good enough to make it to the playoffs consistently , and if you catch lightning in a bottle and 2-3 of those 4 stars become elite (like Bain in freshman year) you can win a title. The fatal flaw in the model is we have Cristobal as HC, so the only way he can make a competitive team is by trying to be Bama or Ohio State with less NIL money and a bad staff.
Bad staff is the key
We need better coaches (development will trump lack of five stars)

Two points that should be obvious, but are subject to debate in here:

1) We aren't going to win anything with Emory handing the ball off. Our defense won't be good enough, and even if it was, we need more from the QB position.

2) Cam, while clearly the best QB in the America, wasn't a one-man show here. His offense at Wazzu was 53rd in scoring offense and 72nd in yards per play. And that's with an innovative OC and two legit 1,000-yard receivers. They actually won more games before he got there. We helped him and he helped us.

We have made big strides on defense this offseason. There are three big items on the agenda: QB, WR and Xavier Lucas. I'd personally add linebacker to that, as well. Lots of work to do before Notre Dame.
If you can hit on all three of those, you’re in good shape 8-9 wins, losing a head scratcher but getting an *** whoppin from nd and probably UF. DC is the next biggest issue. And the way Mario hamstrings himself is my biggest worry. Banks was a slam dunk…

On the cam piece, that’s straight crazy. Idk what else to say lol

I think the narrative, more accurately is we have nothing that matters without a competent QB. We don’t have Dalvin cook or Derrick Henry. We don’t have Jeremiah smith who you can just tell to go long.

Let me make sure I get your argument:

1. Cam was a one-man show at Miami.
2. Cam was a one-man show at Washington State, too, but the offense's stats were a lot worse because he had no help.

Do you understand what "one-man show" means?

Sports what are we spending all of this NIL money on and why did we allow Duke to get the QB that we could've had for multiple years? Why are ppl scared to check Mario like they have previous coaches?

Tell me with a straight face they win three games in 2023. Go on.

A few days ago you make this long *** post about how important the run game is, now the single biggest change from Washington State from 23 to 24 is O-Line play and the Run Game and now, that's being left out.

This nonsensical spinaroo is absurd, man. Just stop it.

lol it looks like alot of yall believe we are nothing without cam . Yall trippin. If we can get a QB that can give us 60 to 70 percent of what cam gave us and a better defense we will be okay.
I don’t think that’s the argument. The argument is we’re not relevant without cam. We didn’t make the playoffs WITH cam. Without him 8 wins is a great accomplishment

I don't like our chances in 20-17 games. Sorry

They don't get it. It's insane.

They went 12-13 with Cam. The two full seasons before he got there, they went 13-13.

I strongly recommend you look things up before you make snarky posts like this.
Yes, wins are a QB stat now.

Malik Rosier = Cam Ward, because both QBs won the same amount of games in one season. Thanks for that one.

And I'm not snarky. I'm trying to shake you from being an idiot, because you're not an idiot. You're ******* smart, so please stop.
