Some names to watch before it’s deleted

If you really think about it for a second, Jason Candle probably made the least amount of sense of most of the rumored names that have been mentioned...

Dude was born & raised in Ohio, played & coached in Ohio for his entire career & literally is the HC of a G5 team less than 2 hours away from his hometown, not to mention, the man is nearly 20 games above .500 with a 60% winning percentage as a Head Coach...

Why TF would he leave all that to come to Miami to be a coordinator? That’s literally a demotion lol.
i can think of $1.5 additional million reasons why and lifestyle but to each its own.

Not just the "OC vs HC" issue .. the big issue to me is that he and his wife (and their new baby) have lived in Ohio their entire lives .. period .. except his 1st 2 years in college in Beaver Falls Pa. Miami, huge, exotic, multi cultural, fast paced city, would be a nightmare for his wife and the baby. He would be fine .. working long hours and traveling to games. SHE would be starting from scratch to establish friends, routines, etc. He makes $1.2 million, living in Toledo, where he has been for 20 years. Not leaving the nest.

Why would a guy who’s spent his entire life in Ohio decide he wants to go be a Coordinator in Florida when he’s already a HC?

Those Ohio guys have strong Midwest values, they stay where they are for as long as they can.

Just like when people always throw Luke Fickell’s name out for big jobs, but he ain’t never leaving Ohio lol

I hope it's Brian Daboll. Brian was our OC for the '17" championship, and he was a great schemer of the ball and had Tua playing at a high level even as a true freshman. I think we win the title again in '18' if he stays. Looking at what the Dolphins have they need an offensive mind badly.
Honestly Tua gets a pass for the first two years from me. He performed well enough having a coach working completely against him. That said I hope it’s Daboll as well or my super nerdy dark house, McDaniel from SF.

So are the Toledo fans ****ed that Candle didn’t leave?

Do we really NEED an OC? Seems like an antiquated idea to me. Why not just let the RB coach propose a running play each down and let the WR coach propose a passing play? The TE coach then endorses one of them and Mario and/or TVD in coordination with the weekly winner of the 50/50 raffle make the final call.

There. Saved the school $2 mil per year and everyone around here a lot of angst. Gimme my NIL deal.

I think LSU, USC, and UF all have their coordinators.

Napier was hired a day before Mario.
Riley and Kelly took their new jobs one week before Mario.

Mario has been here for 44 days. No hire made now would be a "quick hire."

About to get canned by new AD?

Sir, I was told that the great Lou Saban drew up plays in the dirt...

Gotta love myths...

If he were already fired, that would be a different story, but until then it’s pretty rare for an active sitting G5 HC to willingly give up his job to be a coordinator...

FCS HC yes, but most G5 HC’s were already coordinators before they became a HC, so they tend not to go backwards.

When the rumor of a G5 HC first popped up, I went through nearly every scenario possible as to who it could be & there was literally only 1 or 2 options that even made somewhat sense due to money & prior relationships with Mario, but otherwise, most G5 HC’s aren’t going to take a demotion back to coordinator unless they get fired.

LSU has. Napier is the OC and his DC from ULL is going to be his DC. I think they might have 1 staff slot open.

We’ve got 6 open including both coordinators.
Any word if Briles was offered by Miami today? I think someone said 247 was reporting that.
