I still not sure we have to. Anyway you slice the second briles was on the board it was his agent’s job to get him a raise. The narrative right now should be that Briles is happy in Arky. Why say anything else when he didn’t officially get offered the Miami job?

I think it's very clear that Mario cares deeply about this thread reaching 1000 pages. Each Offer/Rejection/Next-Candidate-Up cylce is good for 40-50 pages. We will have our coordinators in about 3 more offers.
 
Lewis' offensive production at Kent State looks pretty impressive. Many of the low scoring games were against top P5 opponents like TAMU, ASU, Auburn, Wisconsin, Penn State, Ole Miss. In the year prior to him taking over as HC, the team only had one game (v FCS Howard) above 30 points.

I know most ignore the recruiting aspect because rankings are so spotty in the MAC. But it's worth noting Kent State was at the bottom for most years under Lewis, meaning he arguably did more with less. But of course that also most likely means he's not a strong recruiter. I'm okay with that tradeoff in an OC, personally.

Tidbit on Lewis: "In a shortened 2020 season, Lewis guided the Golden Flashes to a 3-1 record, securing the first back-to-back winning seasons at Kent State for the first time since the 1976-77 seasons. " They were 7-7 this year with a Bowl loss, so that means he had 3 regular season winning records in a row. Which doesn't sound like much until you realize it's better than any other HC at Kent State in 40 years.

Lewis' contract extension isn't public yet, but he only made 450K a year up until now. Meanwhile, Candle made 1.2M and was the highest paid coach in the MAC to produce the same number of wins.

For the new Miami fans, Don James, a Miami grad and then passing record holder in 52-53, was the Kent State coach from 1971-74 and won their only MAC title. While there, he coached Jack Lambert, Nick Saban, and Gary Pinkel. He then went o Washington, for 18 years with success and won the National Championship in 1991. He is in both the Miami and College Football Halls of Fame.

Whether we get him or somebody else does, he won’t be there for much longer.
