I still not sure we have to. Anyway you slice the second briles was on the board it was his agent’s job to get him a raise. The narrative right now should be that Briles is happy in Arky. Why say anything else when he didn’t officially get offered the Miami job?Arkansas has DEEP pockets. I'd be shocked if we can truly "outbid" them
Sun tzu, The Art of WarAll warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.

Some are saying $1.6-1.8M is what was offered. I assumed it would be $2M or more.It sounds like Miami would have no problem outbidding Arkansas by $500k. @JayCane20 said Candle was offered +$2M.
We’re going into elite prospect weekend without coordinators?
I read 1.6-1.8 on article by local reporter in ToledoSome are saying $1.6-1.8M is what was offered. I assumed it would be $2M or more.

For the new Miami fans, Don James, a Miami grad and then passing record holder in 52-53, was the Kent State coach from 1971-74 and won their only MAC title. While there, he coached Jack Lambert, Nick Saban, and Gary Pinkel. He then went o Washington, for 18 years with success and won the National Championship in 1991. He is in both the Miami and College Football Halls of Fame.Tidbit on Lewis: "In a shortened 2020 season, Lewis guided the Golden Flashes to a 3-1 record, securing the first back-to-back winning seasons at Kent State for the first time since the 1976-77 seasons. " They were 7-7 this year with a Bowl loss, so that means he had 3 regular season winning records in a row. Which does sound like much until you realize it's better than any other HC at Kent State in 40 years.
Lewis' contract extension isn't public yet, but he only made 450K a year up until now. Meanwhile, Candle made 1.2M and was the highest paid coach in the MAC to produce the same number of wins.
