Not only that - and I know this will come a shock to a lot of people on here - some people just don't want to live in South Florida. I am a city person, I went to Miami, I like visiting Miami, but I never want to live in South Florida (or really Florida for that matter).

Now the caveat to all of that is that if you were willing to pay me the type of money that these coaches are in line for, I would absolutely live in Miami (at least for a few years).
 
I wonder if Mario is waiting to hire our DC until we first get an OC. Mario has a set coordinator budget and maybe he's willing to spend more on a top-flight OC and is willing to get a cheaper DC than someone at the top of his DC list (the cheaper DC, btw, can still be **** good and an upgrade over Manny). Offenses at Oregon held Mario back, not defenses.

Yep, what Tua has had to deal with for only his second year was criminal. I've never seen a head coach just try to embarrass a player like that and apparently Flores was pretty good at avoiding and annoying management as well. These guys fresh off the Belichick tree often look like they got the Xs and Os figured out but seem to be striking out with their communication skills. Which does make me wonder if Miami would be willing to dip back into the New England pool with Brian Daboll.

I’d put the O/U at two weeks from now and I’d bet the over. Easily.

Especially if Mario has to do another round of interviews.

This is what Kirby Smart said about $$ and coaching decisions: "It's not just about the money. It's only about the money."

It's not like Mario was shooting in the dark here. He knew we could offer Candle a half million dollar raise. He knew Candle was on the hot seat. And Candle interviewed for the job and expressed interest.

Dude was born & raised in Ohio, played & coached in Ohio for his entire career & is the HC of a G5 team less than 2 hours away from his hometown, not to mention, the man is nearly 20 games above .500 with a 60% winning percentage as a Head Coach...

Why TF would he leave all that to come to Miami to be a coordinator? That’s literally a demotion lol.

Agreed but the funniest **** ever wouldn't necessarily be if he gets fired in the next year or two or even if he passed up a boatload of money to come here but if all that happens AND his wife WANTED desperately to come here and to finally get the **** out of Ohio.

Can you imagine her muttering about "Jason betting on Jason" and millions of dollars down the drain as they're moving their **** in a UHaul in the snow to Bowling Green where he takes their OC job in 2024?

He's been on the job 6 weeks now. If he's just circling back now to conduct more interviews then there's a colossal mismanagement of time/resources going on. I personally don't buy it.

FCS HC yes, but most G5 HC’s were already coordinators before they became a HC, so they tend not to go backwards.

When the rumor of a G5 HC first popped up, I went through nearly every scenario possible as to who it could be & there was literally only 1 or 2 options that even made somewhat sense due to money & prior relationships with Mario, but otherwise, most G5 HC’s aren’t going to take a demotion back to coordinator unless they get fired.
