Signing Day Buzz: 6 Days Away

You must not understand the dynamics of inner city coaching and how ALL these guys have coached together, regardless of rivalries these guys all know eachother. COACH ICE was like an ambassador for the U. Just wait til somebody put a mic in Luke face, laff. Ice is a miami guy, if he said it was a done deal, its done. Go check the history with BTW guys, they do the same play from the playbook every year, play the game wait til signing day, announce for the U. Harris jr slipped one time and said they do it to get as many coaches thru the door to get some other players shine, These coaches all about getting as many kids into college. You cant do something like this last second and not expect a huge backlash. Every critic gonna be out wanting a piece.

This is what you call BAD BUSINESS. smh

The **** you gonna call it bad business when you don't even know what the business is?

When Ice is telling the local Paper its messed up, Believe its bad business. If it was gatewood, whatever. Ice? Comeon, I never go overboard with one kid or anything like that but you dont think this looks bad?

I'm saying it just doesn't make sense to be so blunt about it when we have nothing concrete. You're basically talking about this massive ripple effect when we don't even know how big the rock was.

Golden has shown that he understands what the local schools mean. To think he would **** on that is insanity.

If he did or didnt isnt the problem, guys like Ice carry alot of weight in the city. If he feels wronged then you look at our commit list with every olineman a project from out of state its not a good look. AT ALL. This aint a coach to go off the cuff like that, for Ice to speak like that, smh.

lolwut?

Don't worry guys... We got Hunter Knighton and Ufomba and Odogwu!!!

"WHY NOT WIN IN YOUR HOMETOWN???" lulz

Either way this is a horrible play by Golden. It's a joke. It's fine to do this to Kerr or the other TE from Tampa but to pull this **** to a stud at a local powerhouse like BTW. Why the **** did we hire Coley then? To miss out on guys like Kirkland and 6. It just looks horrible to have the most respected HS coach in Miami, ICE saying he can't trust UM in our local paper. It's a flat out huge **** up by Golden. No way to sugarcoat it.

So why would the coaches feelings on Thomas have anything to do with Kirkland?

From Pete's post:

Without going into detail, Miami has been worried over the last week about Thomas wanting out of town, and the "dropping" of Kirkland is likely related to Thomas' situation.

Is Golden just telling BTW to kick rocks?

I have no answer there man. But if Thomas didn't exists I would bet we would still be on Kirkland or would have anyway. He's really good.

I would have though the same 20 minutes ago. Now I'm not so sure.

Fair enough. I got nothing. You could very well be right of course

Either that or these kids wanted cash. Weird line to drop in that post.

Why is it that every time we lose out on a kid, it's always the "he got paid" excuse? It really gets old.

Then again, reading these posts for the last few days on how we would basically get the top 6 kids on Pete's list I thought was amusing. Year after year, we see how these 18 yr old's change their minds at the drop of a hat. I've been waiting to see our fan base reaction if we were to lose out on any kid...based on this thread alone, now I've seen it.

You see, I'm ****ed right night too, but what annoys people on board is when poster type **** like this. You have zero ******* clue what Golden's move or play was here or the motivations behind it. None.

Yup. I'm out.

I don't know why, but I am not worried!

Not One Iota! ...

It's the not the end of the world. I think if we win in 2013 on the field, it will take care of the rest. I am curious thought to see how this bTw shakes out. Might not be good if we can't recruit their anymore.

I think I am going to take a few weeks break after NSD, its a necessary evil..

Folks on the ledge go ahead and jump.. lol recruiting is not for the faint of heart.

This isn't because we lost the kid it's because of the very specific line in Pete's post about the staff's feelings on and meeting with another player affected Kirkland. Lack of reading comprehension is what really gets old. Not to mention, from Harris' reaction, it doesn't look like a kid we "lost" now does it? Idiot.

Can somebody tell me whats going on? Is it grades or scholarships? Cause Ice said he has a 2.8 and passing score.

I don't know whats worse. Not signing and placing him or straight taking Sonny over him. Sonny better be the second coming or we will look real stupid. You don't take OOS kids over kids in your backyard. You just don't do it. Golden was going on and on about how he was going to show South Florida kids he is willing to wait on them. This aint the way to do that.

Ok, so......

We may miss on Thomas, who by many accounts was an average of 60 percent chance of coming. The reason it's even at 60 is because Pete's probability. So call him 50/50. Tough cookies I guess.

Kirkland didn't do his part academically. Ice or Kirkland's family shouldn't expect Al to do something because of it. Real talk, straight up. Even if he tried to help, Al shouldn't be in that situation.

Bostwick, depending on the UF visit could still go either way.

Collins seems like a great shot.

Coley seems like a great shot.

Grace appears to be a lock.

Bryant is a goner, good luck to him.

So out of a possible 7 relatively huge recruits, we may pull 4, maybe five. And who knows where Thomas's head really is. He knows his boy's grade weren't right and that Al was working on his behalf, so he knew this was a possibility. If he wants out of Miami, so be it.

I'll take Coley, Collins, Grace, and possibly Bostwick into this class. That's still plenty of great pub come Wednesday on ESPN. And one TRUE loss in Thomas.

Back away from the edge boys. Thanks Pete, you're awesome. Don't know how to give rep on mobile.

lol to all of the homers on here expecting us to get everyone and just "waiting to see the faces and posts of fsu fans when we get everyone in SoFla"...seems like the things may be coming to light.

Considering sanctions and no current ranking Miami will still have a good class, not a great class but a solid good class...Collins and a stud DT are a must though and will def. sting missing on one or both.

Just like the 2011 class. This class is mediocre!

Take your glasses off for a second.

We have to win next year point blank period.

I'm not an emotional guy but this is some of the worst news in a long time in recruiting.

Praying we get that Collins commitment on Monday or this could get ugly.

And FWIW, I know Ice is protecting his kid but he has to calm the **** down before bringing the media into this. Especially for a school that 2 of his kids went to and he was once employed by.

On what I said about Kirkland. After reading what was posted after my post, it may not be grades. We don't definitively know what happened. I'm sure we'll know soon enough.

Apologies for citing academics on Kirkland.

Ice told ESPN that we got a silent commitment from a D lineman today.. And that took DK's spot

From reading around it seems to be:

Michael Barrow asks him to commit and Kirkland tells him we are in his Top 3. Michael Barrow didn't like that answer and said sayonara.

If true, Randy Shannon would be proud.
