He’s a top recruit. From a local high school. That Miami’s been recruiting since he was 12. And who had an offer from Oregon. It’ll be 2 months on campus for Mario. He’s an elite recruiter and a trench master. We get the last visit.

Get it done.

Let’s ******* go!

All this is true. But I would also point out that since this kid was 12, the Portal and NIL were invented. So those are some game-changers too.

I still think we have a great shot for Shemar, everything depends on what his top priority is. Most money? aTm. Most wins? UGa. Most upside? UM.

The Kirby situation feels different though. He's a UGA alum, and has been securing top recruiting classes for the past 6 years. I'd be willing to bet he's still the head coach in 4 years. He's built the team through top recruiting (whether bags or not, he gets the horses needed to win the race). He managed to win despite not having Cam Newton or Burrow behind the center, because he's built a strong roster the rest of the way through.

Idk how many people thought Ed O was a great coach after winning, or if he just had the right players with the right staff at the right time. Auburn fans always want to fire their head coach, so that one isn't surprising. As for Meyer, I hate having to acknowledge this, but he also won in 06, so that "medical retirement" is 2 years after his 2nd title, but 4 years after his first.

Kirby has support from the UGA boosters and fans, who have demonstrated a lot of patience and just got rewarded for it. Unless they get complacent now that they've finally won, the money dries up, and he stops being able to recruit, he's still coaching UGA come 2025

My point is simple. Sometimes these SEC coaches look like they are on top of the world, and then are gone two years later. Yes, there are various reasons, but I'll bet you that when each guy was holding up the crystal football, he never thought he'd be gone in 2 years.

That's all. I don't know what is in Kirby's heart or head. He could aspire to the NFL. He could have health issues. He could blunder his way into a major scandal. He probably won't post a losing record in 2 years, but who thought the bottom would fall out at Auburn or LSU?

Life is short. Nobody knows what the future holds. Let's not put a crown on his head and expect his kingdom to dominate forever.

And the 2 year window (of failure) is relevant, because most recruits (to judge from their All Star game commit announcements) are expecting to be in college for 3 to 4 years.

I think alma mater guys like Kirby and Mario do stand better chances of hanging around, though. I acknowledge that.

Mario and the Columbus Crew, et al better learn the NIL and the portal ASAP or we’re going to be left behind - I have no doubt they will.

Both the NIL and the Portal are facts of life and tools in the recruiting tool belt to build your roster toward sustained success.

Shemar is the golden ticket of this class for Miami. Need to keep him home and away from the SEC.

You guys have less patience than my two toddlers.

Why you saying A&M has the most money. Ruiz just dropped 50 racks on Gilbert Frierson and that family seems to have money burning their pockets. The only thing UGA and A&M has over us is their staff been in place and recruiting him longer. Alot of recruits are saying the same thing, and they know its true. Its different now. The Crib about to be lit. Not facades and props. Plus many kids might start staying home since we have way more NIL opportunitied that can last long after they leave college in their own Cities and the state.

You do have a point but Kirby system seems to be more of a machine than those other teams. It took mercurial talent to get Auburn and LSU over the top. UGA is up there every year in recruiting and every year since the 2nd year. He could have faded away after losing the title to Bama with Richt players. Now this entire roster is his. He will be more like Bama imo. He was Saban longest assistant and seem to have replicated the machine the best.

Just as i see it. And it starts with getting top 5 classes every cycle. The threat to UGA and all the SEC teams even Bama is USC getting right, Texas getting right and more importantly, Miami getting right. Texas kinda different since they going to the SEC but if the regional schools get right the schools who depend alot on outa state players are gonna get hit the most. Clemson as well will be affected.

50k? Article just came out saying Texas A&M dropped 30 Mil. on their class.

Look around. Read up on it. If you don't think that Texas A&M isn't offering the most money THIS YEAR, then I don't know what to tell you.

I'm not going to argue with speculative NIL money and the recent discovery of the Ruiz family over the past 6 weeks. All I'll say is that Texas A&M has been offering huge bags for the last couple of years. These kids are only 18 and they've got about 18 days left to be recruited, so they may not have the same perspective that older adults might have. For right now, the Texas A&M money is bigger and more real.

Again, there is nothing stopping Shemar from taking slightly less NIL money today (and potentially more in the future) to stay home. It just depends on what it most important to HIM in his decision process.

I even explained my point in detail, and you blew right past it.

King today, out in two years. There is precedent. Not saying it will or will not happen to Kirby, just that nobody ever seems to see it coming, even though it happens.

U did explain and i pointed out why its slightly different. Kirby has been at UGA for 6 years now. He has rebuilt the entire roster. Didnt rely on a mercurial talent like Cam or transfers like LSU. It was his team and they recruit the same top 5 every cycle. Didn't blow past what you said, just see multiple difference that point to him sustaining it even if they don't play for a title every year.

Losing kids was def a result of coaches being bad, especially the times where we lost kids to schools that aren't even that good like you mention.

But this def does change the bigger picture. There is now a 4th active HC that has win a ship--one that recruits in our area no less. This validates UGA and their recruiting. Kirby telling kids they are building something so they can win it all is now the truth instead of just hope. Mario can still recruit and will do so at an elite level, but it will be that much harder than it would have been if Saban won again.
It wasn't do to coaches being bad on the field. It was do to coaches being bad at recruiting. Can winning make it easier? Yea but being relentless and a people person can get a five star to a 4 win squad.

Mack Brown totally Flamed out this year, top 10 class. Mullen had a pretty good record before this past season and UF was trending down in recruiting. People don't wanna wake themselves up to the fact that you are either good at recruiting or bad. Or u can blast money at it and let other people do it for you

Facts I said this too...Mullen did well his first three years and couldn't sell winning and had to get transfers and diamonds in the rough. Mack loses and recruits top classes. Kirby gets to UGA with no HC XP and top three class....Saban gets to a trash bama top 3 class and losing on top of it.

These fans are fuqin nuts. There is so much proof. U would think following it for years they would see the contradictions to there beliefs. Lane and Riley two of the best x and O guys in college can't recruit like UGA OSU Clemson and Bama. Lane had an amazing year at Ole Miss and can't get anyone lol.

I'm glad UM didn't listen to this fuqin fan base and hire Lane. That's not how u build a pernial power...u hire a HC that's an elite recruiter with a recruiting staff and a x and O guy as OC and DC.....then your cooking

The pirate would of won a fuqin title already if those geniuses theory were true. Dudes a **** of a mind on Offense but can't recruit. Then they think he comes here and kills it with "Miami type talent" when we haven't had Miami type talent in ages.

Edit: it gets me so mad to have to explain this every week for ten fuqin years.
